Nolan said in a flat tone without even looking at Sherett, "Because you are a selfish and useless girl. I can't even think of being in a relationship with you—let alone love you."
Hearing Nolan's words, Sherett burst into laughter. Everyone looked at her as if she had gone mad. Laughing, Sherett said, "Yes… I am selfish. And what do you mean by useless? Just because I didn't do everything you wanted before marriage, I've become useless to you, right?"
Memories from her childhood to the present started flooding Sherett's mind—those moments when Nolan would understand everything about her without a word, when he would care for her in every possible way. After the death of her parents, it was Nolan who supported her. That's why she had made Nolan her entire world. She couldn't even imagine living her life without him. About a month or two ago, he had told Sherett that he was going to France for some important office work. She had even gone to drop him off at the airport. Before leaving, he had kissed her forehead lovingly and said, "Take care of yourself. I'll be back soon—coming straight to you."
But the Nolan who stood before her today was someone completely different. There wasn't even a trace of regret in his eyes as he spoke such harsh words to her.
Turning toward her, Nolan said, "Sherett, we've known each other since childhood. In fact, you've been a good friend to me. Before things get out of hand, please leave this place."
Sherett looked at him in disbelief. "You want me to leave? Do you even realize that the place you're standing on is my property? My parents left this entire empire for me. I can throw all of you out of this house whenever I want."
Before she could finish, Nelly interrupted her. She suddenly grabbed some papers from the nearby table and waved them in front of Sherett with a venomous smile. "Open your eyes and see, Sherett—see what's written in these papers.""The property you are talking about is no longer yours. It belongs to us now. You don't have any right over even a single brick of this house," Sherett said, looking at the papers in Nelly's hands. Written in big, bold green letters was "Property Transfer." Sherett was completely shocked upon seeing it, but she quickly composed herself and said, "Hmm... Do you people really think that by taking my fake signatures, you will get the property? That will never happen."
Perla stepped forward and said, "Who said these signatures are fake? You signed these papers yourself in front of everyone last night. Did you forget so soon? Or are you trying to go back on your words now? But unfortunately, that's not possible anymore. You signed these papers willingly in front of everyone, and we have plenty of witnesses for it. Hmm..."
Sherett tried hard to recall the events of last night. Some blurry memories started to resurface. Perla had first forced her to drink, and later came to her with some documents. She had said that those papers were from the hotel management, and they needed her signatures to book a room under her name for the whole night.
It meant that Perla had made her drink, waited for her to lose consciousness, and then made her sign the property transfer papers. Sherett couldn't believe that her sister, whom she considered her best friend, had plotted such a big conspiracy against her. She was still processing this when Nelly struck her with another blow.
"And yes, you no longer have any share in Mehta Groups of Companies either," Nelly said, waving another paper in front of her.
Sherett was completely confused. She looked at Nelly with a puzzled expression and asked, "What do these papers mean?"
Nelly gave a sly smile and said, "Hmm... You still don't understand? No problem, I'll explain. According to these papers, you have now transferred the equity ownership to us. And that simply means that from now on, you don't even own a single penny's worth of share in this property or Mehta Groups of Companies. So, before I throw you out of this house, pick up your belongings and get out."
Sherett looked around at all the people standing in front of her. She could never understand that their love and affection were just a deception—a way to get their hands on her wealth. And today, they finally got their chance.
Filled with bitterness, Sherett said, "So, you all did this? You all planned to snatch everything from me?"
Nelly laughed mockingly and said, "Oh wow, you understood everything so quickly. I have to admit, our Sherett is very smart." At her remark, Perla lowered her head and laughed.
A storm was raging in Sherett's heart. This house, this company—all of it was built with her parents' hard work. It had taken them years to establish everything. She couldn't let it all fall into the hands of these deceivers so easily.
Without wasting a moment, she quickly moved forward to snatch the papers from Nelly's hands. But Nelly was already prepared for this. She swiftly pulled her hand back and, with her other hand, gave Sherett a hard push.
Sherett couldn't balance herself and, while falling, hit the corner of a nearby table. Because the table had a hard glass edge, it left a deep cut on her forehead. She touched her forehead with trembling hands, and blood began to flow rapidly, dripping from her hands onto the floor. For a moment, everyone present there was startled, but Nelly quickly regained her composure and said, "Hmm... No one dies from a little bit of blood loss. Stop this drama and get out of our house right now."
Holding onto the table, Sherett somehow managed to stand up again and once more tried to snatch those papers from Nelly's hands. At that moment, only one thing was running through her mind—somehow, she had to grab those papers from Nelly and tear them up. That was the only way to get everything back.
After Sherett's parents' accident, her uncle and aunt, Kartar and Nelly, entered her house under the pretense of taking care of the lone child. They began living with her. Sherett was very young back then, so she genuinely believed that her uncle and aunt cared for her.
Kartar Marley had claimed his brother's position and took full control of the management of Marley Groups of Companies. But in his name, there were only 10% of the shares. The remaining shares were automatically transferred to Sherett after her parents' death.
But today, with Nolan's help, they managed to take everything away from her. Sherett had no idea that the very people she loved and considered her family would one day stab her in the back.
Sherett tried once again to snatch the property papers from Nelly's hands, but this time, Perla grabbed her hand, turned her around, and slapped her hard.
Sherett, holding her cheek in disbelief, looked at Perla. Kartar stopped Perla, saying, "Stop it, Perla. Whatever she is, she's still your sister."
Perla looked at Sherett with rage and said, "I don't care! All I know is that this girl has no place in this house anymore. I can't tolerate her any longer."
Sherett's eyes turned red with anger. So this was the reality of her sister. Clenching her fists tightly, she said to everyone, "This entire property is mine, and I will take it back."
Perla folded her hands mockingly in front of her and said... "Oh really? Then go ahead, who's stopping you?"
Sherett clenched her teeth, her eyes blazing with determination. "I will. I definitely will. Everything you all did to me—I will make sure you pay for it. Just wait and watch."
Hearing Sherett's bold words, Perla lost her temper. Her face flushed with anger as she screamed, "Security! Security! Where the hell is everyone? Get this girl out of here! And make sure she never steps foot near this place again!"
Almost on cue, Nelly walked in, dragging Sherett's suitcase behind her. She flung it down in front of Sherett with a thud, a smug look on her face. They had already packed her belongings beforehand; this was just a formality being completed now.
Sherett cast one last burning glance at all of them. Her eyes spoke of fury, pain, and unyielding resolve. Without uttering another word, she grabbed her suitcase and walked out, leaving behind an air heavy with tension and unspoken promises of revenge.
