Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

When I see my planet explode, even though I'm too young to fully understand, I do. And I realise that if they come after me, my life is in danger.

Luckily, they don't.

For a while, as I resist the ship's homicidal attempts to reprogram my mind, I become fascinated by space.

The vastness. The planets I pass by, wishing one of them would break through the darkness and become my home. But none of them do.

Some are beautiful, others dangerous. Some are full of vivid colours, others are dead, about to explode or be swallowed by black holes or wormholes.

I see comets, meteors… some even crash into moons or planets.

I even pass through a nebula.

My ship leaves it all behind. And when I finally grow used to staying calm, despite its attempts to disrupt my mind, I think:

"I should stop wasting time and train."

But how, when the ship only allows me to sit with a mask over my face?

So I reflect, long and hard.

"After all, time is something I have plenty of."

Until one day, as I'm thinking, I get it:

"I'm an idiot."

Meditation and mental training. That's the key.

I begin alternating between the two during my moments of consciousness. The ship is programmed to alter my sleep and keep me in peak condition.

While meditating, over time, I manage to feel the ki within me. I know it'll be easier to use once I've learned how.

"I can't expect my race to teach me anything first, because I'm a low-class Saiyan; second, because I'm the last of them."

At least I learn the basics. Later, when I reach my future home, I'll train to reach higher levels.

During mental training, I picture myself fighting… myself. I'd like to visualise the one who destroyed my planet, but I've never seen him.

"Just his damned ship."

So I imagine myself punching through the glass, bleeding, crawling out of the incubator.

In front of me, a dark version of myself does the same.

"My enemy."

— I'm going to kill you. — He says.

— I'd like to see you try. — I reply.

We leap at each other and trade a flurry of punches until we both fall unconscious.

I wake up in the ship.

"Well, that didn't go very well… but it helped me understand my limits."

And then, after all that, a green planet starts growing larger in the ship's viewport. It doesn't look like the ship is going to veer off course.

"Is that… my new home?"
