Chapter 3 - World Of Archanum

There was one moment where we felt like we had experienced that moment before. Right when the doctor mentioned Adair's name, Anya's head felt like it had just been hit by a boulder and some of the shadows that had been haunting her came rushing in with images that were hard to see.

Anya was a girl who didn't like to complain, and when her head kept spinning with shadows that she didn't know what they were, she only showed a normal face on the surface. "May I visit her, Doc?"

Hearing what Anya said, Aunt Luci became very worried. After all, that young man was the reason Raiden died. She didn't want Anya to be impulsive and think of revenge. So, she tried to stop her. "Your body is still weak, Miss. You'd better rest first.... "

However, as if not knowing what Aunt Luci was worried about, the doctor smiled and interrupted her, "It's alright, as long as this Miss can keep the wound from dirt to prevent infection, then there's nothing to worry about."

Once, Anya saw Raiden being treated harshly by someone at the market. Not accepting that the person she loved was being hurt, Anya fought with him so hard that he almost lost his life.

In her sunflower garden, who wouldn't know that their lady was good at fighting and had a bit of magic?

So, when Aunt Luci forbade her from going to see the young man who was the reason for Raiden's death, Anya knew exactly why. "Auntie, don't worry, I won't do anything to him." Anya then smiled at the doctor, "which room is the young man in?"

The doctor, who more or less new the reason why Luci's aunt forbade Anya to see the young man, smiled. To him, it would be good if Anya met the young man immediately and straightened out what was in her heart. "Right next to you, Miss. However, it seems that the young man has a more muddled mind than you. He is also very quiet, so, please understand."

Anya nodded. As a realistic person, of course, she felt she had to know who the person was that Raiden had saved at the cost of his own life.

The doctor looked at Reynold and said, "There is a wheelchair in the front corridor, you can use it to take this lady to the next room."

"Yes, thank you, Doc."

The doctor smiled sincerely, "Then, I'll excuse myself. "I still have a patient to see." He then politely withdrew.

Just as Reynold was about to walk over to get the wheelchair the doctor was referring to, a small hand blocked his path by grabbing his large wrist. "No need to get a wheelchair." He then stood up without grimacing or complaining of pain. Though her feet were really blistered from running too far and falling so many times earlier.

Aunt Luci wrinkled her forehead in concern, "Miss, you should use the wheelchair now!"

Reynold also confirmed what Aunt Luci said.

However, for someone who is often injured like Anya, the wounds on her body right now could not be considered big. Many times she has even received more injuries than this. "You guys, don't treat me like I've never been hurt!"

"But, Miss. The doctor said" you can't get your wounds infected."

Anya smiled, "I know, Auntie."

Ignoring Aunt Luci and Reynold's worries, Anya walked casually towards the room right beside her. And when she entered, she saw a tall, sharp-nosed, and firm-necked young man closing his eyes on the bed.

Looking at the young man's face, Anya's head was getting dizzy and made her almost unsteady. For some reason, the abstract image in her brain kept spinning twice as much as before. Like she had seen that face before. It even felt very familiar!

Anya shook her face, sighed and entered the room with light footsteps.

From the young man's side, she saw someone enter the room without knocking at first. It had been a long time since the last time someone dared to enter her place without knocking first. He had even forgotten how shocking it was. And upon seeing the perpetrator's face, one name suddenly escaped his thin lips. "Elera?"

Anya wrinkled her forehead. She looked to her right and left. In that room, there was no one else but her, the young man, Aunt Luci and Reynold. Had the young man been misnamed?

She then introduced herself. "My name is Anya." Walking lightly towards the bed, "this is Aunt Luci, then this is Reynold."

The young man's brow furrowed deeply, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing, "Anya?"

Anya nodded, "yes, Anya Stamp. The sister of the man who helped you, Raiden Stamp. What's your name?" Anya already knew the young man's name from the doctor. However, it would be strange if he suddenly called her name without asking first.

The young man's face was cold. It seemed that he rarely spoke and was untouchable. He looked like a noble person and deserved respect. The young man's eyes did not leave Anya's face, "Adair."

Behind Anya, Aunt Luci and Reynold seemed to be thinking too much. And when they knew that Anya couldn't possibly do anything bad to Adair, they excused themselves.

Anya said, "They are my elder brother's trusted farm laborers. They are only here to follow me."

Adair did not answer. Didn't nod, or shake his head. He just kept quiet but listened well. Anya misbehaved, "None of your family has come yet. The doctor says you have serious injuries to your arms and legs. So, if you need anything, you can tell me or Reynold and Aunt Luci."

Memories of the past few hours surfaced in Adair's mind, then his uninjured hand-picked up something in his pants pocket. It was a ring. "This, accidentally pulled out when your brother saved me."

Seeing the ring that Raiden always wore. The emotion Anya was holding back almost broke out. However, she held it very well. "You can keep it if you want."

Adair continued to stare at Anya's downcast face but did not look sad. "He's a good person."

Anya nodded, "I know."

Silence. It was true what the doctor had said. Adair was not an easy person to talk to! Because Anya didn't like silence when she was with someone, she asked first, "Are you thirsty?" And she only got a head shake from Adair as an answer.

Then she asked again, "Hungry?" And Adair also shook his head, "Tell me what you need?" Adair sighed. He didn't need anything.

Anya had to sigh inwardly, she couldn't help but grumble a little at Adair's attitude. Not anything, but wasn't this where Anya came in as a victim? She lost her brother because of Adair! But the young man didn't seem to have anything stuck in his heart, and remained calm with his silence.

If Anya had been an indifferent person, she might have held a grudge against Adair. But fortunately, Anya thought that if she held a grudge against Adair, Raiden might suddenly wake up from his sleep in anger. And seeing Raiden angry was the last thing on her mind. Anya felt she had to continue Raiden's unfinished business!

Just as Anya was about to say goodbye, Adair suddenly opened his thin lips, "You, do you know someone named Elera Greystone?"

At the same time, in the world of arcanum, in the gentle valley kingdom right in the heart of the zephyrus city, King Orion Dominix looked restless on his dragon throne. He massaged his dizzy head. It had been ten years since the crown prince had been found. At his age, it should not have taken him that long to marry off the crown prince.

But where is he now? No one knows.

Even for the past ten years, the queen mother has kept herself confined to her residence, placing her focus on praying for the crown prince's safety. It was impossible for the king to give the position of crown prince to Prince Zander Dominix.

Although Prince Zander Dominix was his first child, his rank was certainly far below that of the crown prince. For he was born from the womb of a concubine, not a queen.

William, King Orion's personal attendant, came to pour tea for the king, then he poured medicine into the tea.

"Your Majesty, the medicine!" William said as he handed over the glass and bowed half of his body, a sign of respect.

The king looked so tired, not eager to accept the glass from his servant, but he finished it anyway. For a king like him, of course, Orion had to separate personal and state affairs. The crown prince was his son, and it was a personal matter that directly belonged to the state.

How could a country continue to exist without an heir?

And in full realization, King Orion would also understand that his body was not entirely his own, but the state also had a right to the body that wore the dragon robe almost all the time.

Seeing his king so disheartened and discouraged, William dared to approach him. However, he knew his king well, he had served him with all his heart since he was a teenager, and he didn't want anything bad to happen to his king.

William, "Your Majesty, please pay more attention to your health, the physician says your Majesty's condition is deteriorating!"

The king handed the empty glass back to William. "Has there been any news from the crown prince?"

William bowed his head deeply, as long as he served the king, he never deliberately looked at his king's face. What a good servant.

"Not yet," William answered quietly before finally putting the glass that the king offered into the tray carried by a lower servant.

William then sent the maid away with a hand gesture.

The king sighed sadly. All this time he kept mobilizing his soldiers to continue searching for the crown prince. Even though there was no result for ten years, his hunch said that the crown prince was still alive! And hopefully in good condition. But if the crown prince is indeed alive, why is it that, until now, not even a trace of him has been found?

"King, Prince Zander requests an audience!" William said.

"Please!"

Then a porch guard announced Prince Zander's arrival in a loud voice.

The main door of the palace was opened wide by two guards. A person strode in with a sword in his right hand and a roll of maps in his left.

The man had thick eyebrows, two razor-sharp eyes, his long black hair tied neatly with a royal hairband. His body was tall and well-built, his steps sure and steady with noisy armor weighing thirty to forty-five kilograms attached to his body.

He was the prince nicknamed the eagle-eyed Zander Dominix, the half-brother of the crown prince!

Prince Zander knelt under the dragon throne like an obedient knight. "I salute your highness!"

"Stand up!" The king replied.

Prince Zander stood up, then presented a map with both hands. "May your majesty have a look at it!"

William came forward, accepted the map scroll and unfolded it on the dragon table in front of his king.

"A map of Mount Drakenfels?" the king asked.

"That's right, your majesty, at some points that I marked red, there are people who suspect the existence of spiritual fruit on the mountain, and as such they intend to hasten to go looking." Prince Zander replied.

The king seemed to think for a moment, then said, "other than the holders of the abra stone, there will be no one who can take the spiritual fruit, fearing that the people you have marked have a part of the stone and use the spiritual fruit wrongly."

Prince Zander, "Your Majesty's guidance is requested... "

The king looked at the map that Prince Zander had brought with him. The places marked by Prince Zander were quite close to Mount Drakenfels. But hopefully there will still be time to protect the spiritual fruit.

"Set traps at the foot of the mountain and its surroundings! "Make it look as if the mountain is still the same as usual, so as not to arouse suspicion!" The king ordered.

Prince Zander, "replied your highness, shouldn't we tighten the guard on the mountain?"

During those ten years, Prince Zander had completely lost his fear of death. He even preferred to be sent to war with his life on the line rather than sitting in his magnificent royal palace, which he found suffocating.

I don't know what happened, but in the past ten years, Prince Zander never even stayed at his own residence except for a few important days.

Ten years have passed, and there have been so many changes...

King said, "If it is too obvious that the mountain is protected, then they will believe that the spiritual fruit is really there. And perhaps they will use any means to breach the security. "We must look as normal as possible, before the five abra stones are found and re-secured!"

"Your Highness is very wise, with that I beg to excuse myself!" Prince Zander replied.

Prince Zander was about to leave, but the king's voice stopped him. "Wait a minute, son!" said the king in a voice that was no longer formal.

Prince Zander turned back to face his father.

The king said, "For ten years you have been very difficult for me to see. Come and let your father take a closer look at you!"

Prince Zander was silent, looking for an opening to refuse. Everything in the palace always felt suffocating for him. He would even rather give up his life than continue to hold the tightness in his heart.

But for a knight like him, suicide is a taboo. Suicide is an act that he must avoid. Suicide is a sin that he must avoid because it can reduce the kingdom's soldiers.

Therefore, he continued to cram himself on the battlefield and continued to challenge death. That way, at least he could die honorably.

King, "You want me to order you twice, my son?"

Prince Zander nodded slowly, "Please your father, forgive my mistake!"

The king smiled softly, "William, prepare the best tea and close the door for a moment. I want to drink with my son!"

In the office of the legal division, the kingdom of the gentle valley, right in the right wing of the palace!

The chief law minister, Ryder Stonehaven, was reading through the daily case reports. But his eyes caught an envelope with a logo that he recognized.

That envelope must have contained a letter from someone later!

Ryder quickly opened the envelope, and sure enough, inside was a letter from him. The contents of the letter were short, but managed to make Ryder, the heartless human, smile.

"Big Brother Ryder, when am I coming back?" That was the content of the letter that was successfully sneaked by an expert.

"Report to the chairman!" said the subordinate who had just asked the doorman for permission to enter.

Ryder replied quietly, "Go ahead!" His hand still held the letter from the special person.

Ryder's subordinate, "The investigation that the chairman entrusted me with has been conducted. And I have found some clear evidence that Mr. Burno is the perpetrator of the serial murders, but until now Mr. Burno has not been willing to admit it!"

Ryder placed the special letter as he usually placed case reports. He did not even cover the top of the paper that clearly read a letter from him. He did so as not to arouse suspicion that the paper was special.

Ryder nodded his head, "whip him seventy times, and if he still doesn't confess, soak him in ice water overnight!"

With the weather this cold, even just leaving the body outside without proper heating for an hour could cause a person to suffer from frostbite. But Ryder ordered that the person be sentenced to an ice bath overnight! If that person wanted to live, then there was no other way but to confess!

Ryder's subordinate clenched his fist in understanding, "Yes chairman!"

And the subordinate immediately excused himself from doing the task he had been asked to do.

"Uhuk uhuk uhuk... " Ryder coughed softly, Lately his old illness had been recurring.

His hand moved to stir the ink and then give a reply to the special person.

"Wait for my signal!"
