A Rumble Among the Gods
The balance of power had shifted. Devils whispered of a new age. Dragons respected his flame. Angels watched with wary eyes. And the gods they listened.
Yet amid all this divine clamor, one figure had remained silent as if the storm were holding its breath.
Until now.
Far above the mortal world, past clouds heavy with divine mist, stood the eternal plateau of Olympus. The sky churned with raw power, and at its center, beneath a dome of lightning and marble, sat the King of the Greek Pantheon.
Zeus.
His throne was forged from storms, ancient yet eternal. Thunder coiled at his feet. His eyes crackled with the weight of the sky as he stared down at a glowing scroll held in one hand the divine record of mortal and immortal deeds.
"Riser Phenex," Zeus said slowly, tasting the name like lightning on his tongue.
"The boy who roars like a god and walks like the sun."
He narrowed his gaze.
"And the one who courts my daughter."
His fist tightened. Lightning lanced out from the sky above Olympus.
"I need to see him test him, too see if my daughter is truly being taken care of or just used."
Solaris Manor, Kuoh
Within the sun drenched halls of Solaris Manor, peace and quiet remained. Birds sang in the courtyards. The cherry trees from Kyoto swayed in the gentle wind. It was a rare day of calm.
But that calm shattered as a portal, ringed in divine runes and thrumming with celestial energy, burst open near the main gates. Blue and gold lightning surged around its edge.
A figure stepped forth, clad in resplendent silver armor, his cloak billowing with Olympian wind.
He knelt.
"Lord Riser Phenex," the herald said, voice echoing with divine resonance. "By the will of Zeus, King of Olympus, you are summoned to the celestial heights."
He raised a golden scroll. "You and Lady Thalia are to appear before the throne."
A quiet gasp escaped Thalia's lips. Her fingers trembled at her side.
"Father," she whispered. "What does he want."
Riser stepped forward, calm as ever. His gaze flicked to the portal, then back to the herald.
"I assume this is not merely a social call," he said, his voice sharp.
"No, my lord. The King wishes to see you with his own eyes."
Riser smiled faintly, turning to Thalia. "Then let's not keep the god of storms waiting."
The Path to Olympus
The journey through the portal was like walking through a river of starlight. Celestial power surged around them. Riser and Thalia moved in silence, their fingers brushing not out of romance, but solidarity.
When they emerged, they stood atop Mount Olympus a realm painted in divine majesty.
White marble spires reached for the heavens. Clouds thick enough to walk upon carried entire gardens. Waterfalls spilled stardust into the sky. Music echoed faintly, played by spirits born from creation itself.
But it was the Temple of Zeus that dominated the peak. Colossal. Eternal. Crowned with stormclouds and carved with scenes of godly triumph.
Thalia hesitated. Her hand reached out, gripping Riser's wrist.
"He's not just my father. He's the storm itself," she said softly. "All my life, he never called out to me. He never saw me as me."
Riser gently squeezed her hand.
"He'll see you now. Because you're no longer in his shadow."
She looked up at him.
"And you?"
Riser grinned. "I don't kneel for thunder."
The Throne of Storms
Within the throne chamber, a tempest waited.
Zeus stood before his towering throne his bronze skin shimmering with lightning, beard streaked with white, his eyes like storms condensed into orbs. His aura weighed down the air.
When Riser and Thalia entered, every head turned Apollo lounged in the corner, plucking his lyre lazily. Athena stood with arms crossed, her sharp eyes studying. Hera watched coolly from her marble seat.
Thalia took a step forward. "Father"
"Silence, daughter." Zeus's voice boomed like a mountain splitting. "Let me look at him."
He descended the steps like a walking storm, each movement sending a low rumble through the hall.
He stopped before Riser who met his gaze unflinching.
"You shine like a false sun," Zeus said. "You defeated Vritra. You stand beside dragons, devils, and even gods. You court my daughter."
He leaned closer, eyes narrowing.
"Tell me, Riser Phenex what makes you think you're worthy of her?"
A tense silence followed. Even the gods leaned in.
Riser didn't blink. "I don't think I'm worthy," he said. "I already have become worthy. Every day. With every decision. With every battle. And every moment I protect her not as her master, not as her savior, but as her loved one."
Zeus's brow twitched.
"You speak boldly. Phenex."
"No," Riser said. "I speak like a man who has earned loyalty not demanded it. That's the difference between power and love."
The thunder grew louder. The tension became unbearable.
But then Thalia stepped between them.
"That's enough," she said, voice trembling but strong. "Father I love him. Not because of what he's done. Not because of who he's fought. But because when Olympus gave me chains, he gave me freedom. When I was broken, he gave me choice."
Zeus's gaze flicked to her. The storm quieted.
"You once whispered too me what I wanted to become," she said. "I never answered. But now I can."
She turned to Riser.
"I want to be beside him. That is my path."
Zeus looked long at his daughter, the girl he once forged into a spear of lightning, now standing with light in her eyes that had nothing to do with his power.
At last, the lightning dimmed.
"You speak as one who is no longer my child. But her own."
He turned to Riser again, this time without divine weight.
"You have done what no god, titan, or hero has. You have earned the heart of my daughter."
He extended a powerful arm.
"Then let Olympus and Kuoh stand together. Let storm and sun forge as close allies."
Riser grasped his forearm, the contact releasing a shock of power. For a moment, fire and lightning swirled together clashing, then harmonizing.
"Then let our flame light the sky," Riser replied.
A Feast worthy of the Gods was taking place
That night, Olympus sang with celebration. Ambrosia flowed. Nymphs danced. The gods gathered beneath floating lights and shifting stars.
Riser, dressed in white and gold formal robes of Phenex royalty, sat beside Thalia radiant in a lighting blue gown edged with lightning trims.
Apollo raised his goblet high.
"To the next sun God of Kuoh may your flame never falter, even before the gods!"
Athena smirked. "And may your rise continue to challenge itself."
Even Hera nodded. "A devil with dignity. How rare."
Thalia laughed quietly beside Riser, nudging him. "Careful. They're starting to like you."
"I know," Riser murmured. "Terrifying, isn't it?"
Later, under the vast celestial sky of Olympus, the two stood alone on a marble balcony, the stars close enough to touch.
Thalia leaned against Riser, her head on his shoulder.
"You faced him," she whispered. "And you didn't kneel."
"I've stared down dragons, demons, and the ambitions of devils," Riser said. "But a protective father? That was new."
She chuckled. "He'll never admit it, but I think he's proud of me. Of us."
"I don't need his pride," Riser said, kissing her temple. "Just yours."
She looked up at him, eyes soft.
"You're my sun, Riser. You always were."
"And you" he said, brushing her hair back, "are the only storm I welcome in my skies."
They kissed beneath the heavens not as a devil and a demigod, not as power and legacy but simply as two souls who had chosen each other.
