Chapter 3 - Golden Finger, Premonition

"I am back again." He murmured under his breath. He wasn't surprised or startled. This was the opportunity he gained during his first life, allowing him to tread the path of extraordinary.

He attributed it to being a golden finger as a transmigrator.

"In my second life, I had my doubts regarding the origin of this place…" He thought this place, or rather, this strange opportunity was his clues to finding a way home.

Yin San look around him. It was an endless desert. Occasionally, there would be scattered stone as well as ruined buildings that stick out to the surface. This place was heavy with fog.

But it wasn't like the crimson fog in the outside world, it was more white in color, making it looked like a layer of dense smoke.

What caught his attention the most is a giant gate with inscribed engravings in the distant. Even through dense fog, he could make out its appearance.

Seeing this familiar gate, he quickly pick up his feet and walked toward the gate.

The wind blew past his naked body as he arrived at the gate. Facing this massive gate, he felt like an ant, but this time, there was another feeling rising in his heart.

"This mural…" In his past life, he didn't have the knowledge the grasp the meaning of the murals, and simply walked past it.

Even with his knowledge on earth has a historian, he couldn't understand it.

By the time he became a knowledgeable figure in the world of mysticism, it was too late. The gate was gone, and he never saw it again.

This time, it was different.

He carefully raised his finger to trace the rough texture of the gate. Instantly, the image seemed to enlarge itself in his mind. The stone was smooth to the touch, it reminded him of marble.

But he knew this gate has stood for an unknown amount of time, if it was marble, it would have long cracked from the vicissitudes of time.

On the top of the mural, there was a naked figure. It was formed from a figment of light, making it difficult to discern the details of its features.

I once thought the meaning is in the details, but actually, I was wrong, its not the details that matter… In the world of mysticism, the meaning lies within the symbolism! He unfocused his eyes and attempts to look at the mural as a whole rather than the part.

This time, the image changed, and the perspective was shifted.

There was a white-like figure, almost pure white, and on top of its head, there is a triangle carving. This figure stood on top a bridge of light, and under him, is a sea of crimson fog as well as monstrous vines and creatures crawling in distorted manners.

Even he couldn't tell what they were.

What caught his attention besides these bizarre creatures were the triangle on top of the figure's head.

Because each corner of the triangle hold a different image. Each image is a symbol, and they all represent different meaning.

This triangle is not set upright, so there is no way of telling if the top part is the beginning, or the bottom being the end… Even if it is set upright, there's still no way of telling what's the beginning or end point. It is like an enclosed circle.

An enclosed circle… triangle, three side… three cycle… The number three! Yin San body took a step back in shock. It was as though the number three became the most fearsome entity in this world!

"Three!" Instantly, he felt a foreboding thought rising from his mind, and this thought was like a hammer.

Immediately, his vision dazed, There was a dark black eye below the golden bridge. It seemed to come alive and its gaze locked on to him!

The black eye didn't move, but he saw it moved. Yin San quickly turn his head to avoid staring at the eye, but in the corner of his peripheral vision, he could tell it blinked!

Suddenly, his body started cracking, it was like his body turned into glass and someone swung a hammer at it. His instinct peaked as the danger in his heart rise like tidal waves.

For Yin San, who was once an experienced and powerful figure, it was too familiar! This sensation was like an infection, and it was spreading rapidly!

This abnormality involved things of a certain entity, and when his understanding attempt to graze the truth of the matter, it attracted it attention.

He quickly retracted his curiosity toward the mural and quickly closed his eyes as he raised both arm to push the gate open.

Instantly, the moment he touch the gate, a deep bell dong reverberated in the vast desert.

Open!

His breath grew weaker, weary, all the strength in his body funneled into his arm at this very moment.

At the same time, a voice emerged in his mind.

"Tick. Tack."

This voice started to mimic the sound of a grandfather clock and echoed in his turmoiled mind.

This abnormal voice further accelerated the corruption of his body, as though it was a spark that ignited the fuels.

Slowly, a building behind the gate revealed itself.

An immensely large castle, made of white stone, standing aloft above the white land. Its presence awed Yin San for a moment.

But he didn't have the time to be dazed.

Just as this castle was revealed, the giant gate disintegrate, like the wind has picked up the sands, scattering it into countless direction.

All this happened in an uninterrupted sequence.

Yin San hurriedly carried his shattered astral body into the entrance of the castle, welcoming a dimly lit hallway.

F-Finally… He let out of a sigh of relief.

His mind gradually stabilized, the blistering and mutation on his body retracted back to its previous state, as though 'something' was suppressing it.

Yin San look around with a hint of familiarly.

"Fortunately, the 'sanitation' effect of this place is still the same as my previous life…" He murmured, his whisper echoed in the hall.

Upon recalling the sudden mutation from simply 'observing' the mural and attempting to understand its corresponding meaning, Yin San shivered.

At the same time, he was relieved to see this place has not changed.

Knowledge is power and poison… A thought can taint the mind, and knowledge are powers, which certainly corrupts! I just didn't imagine that the mural would hide such significant secrets… In this world, the truths can be death!

He let out a breath of cold air. This was a quote of an old colleague.

Yin San took another look at his body, noticing that all the 'virus' that latched onto his body was 'sanitized', before looking at the space in front of him.

After experiencing the abnormality in the mural, Yin San heart grew alert.

Was his arrival and transmigration planned and schemed by someone?

The mural engraving on the gate made him wary of another force hidden in the shadow. Before, he thought it involved a certain entity which once own this castle, but now, it seemed to be connecting to another entity.

I couldn't find a clue to my transmigration in the past, but now that I do, I feel helpless…

In this place, he didn't mind projecting his speculations, as the trait of this castle allow him to recall certain knowledge without worry about being 'tainted'.

For a moment, Yin San thought of abandoning this place. Then, he shook his head.

He was just an ordinary person rocking against the current.

Which ever entity planning and scheming against him, if 'they' wished for his death, he wouldn't be alive. He may as well use this as an opportunity.

He had a feeling that the golden haired man who appeared in his last life was related to this matter somehow, but without sufficient knowledge, it was just a guess.

Yin San took a step forward and looked at the wide space.

At the center of the hall was a giant round table, dark mahogany. He could clearly count over ten seats in total, the same amount as his past life.

There is no sound, let alone smell. As a foreigner, one would feel isolated, trapped even. But this environment was Yin San greatest assurance in his 'life'.

Seeing a familiar seat at he center of the round table, his eyes glinted, a glow barely discernible before they faded away into the background.

He picked up his feet and walked toward the seat that was slightly elevated from the rest, then sat down in a leisure manner.

Immediately, he felt a subtle connection forming from him toward this space. It was difficult to describe, it was faint and fleeting, as thin as a spider silk.

Using his previous experience as the foundation, he could deduce that this 'connection' most likely means that 'it' has acknowledge him as the owner.

At the same time, his speculation regarding the past owner, along with the golden hair figure's comment made him speculate.

If possible, I need to find a way to replace the three line chants into my own as soon as possible… I can't be too cautious, after all, to use this chant meant praying to that mysterious entity….
