Chapter 14 - Pilot ~ Part 14

On the Ark, Kane was feeling pretty smug with himself, hopefully Chancellor Jaha wouldn't survive and he'd then be in charge. He stood by one of the large windows on the space station, having a drink from a metal cup as he stared down at the earth. The door opened behind him but he didn't turn around.

"Are you out of your mind?" Cece asked him quietly and almost calmly. "You can't just kill everyone who disagrees with you." She scolded him. "Now, you all think I'm a bad guy..." He shook his head with a slight scoff and pointed a finger towards her. "But I'm the only one who's willing to do what it takes to save us." He said. "She's my best friend!" She shouted emotionally. "So what do you want me to say, I'm sorry?" He asked as he looked at Cece. "I'm not." He said as he took a step closer to her. "Friendship is a luxury we can't afford, and if I have to take us down to a cosmic Adam and Eve, I will do it." He said confidently with a nod, nothing would stop him from making sure they survived, and preferably on Earth.

"Please. Show mercy, if not for Abby, then for me." She pleaded in a soft whisper, trying to get through to him. "We can't afford mercy, either." He said with a shake of his head.

Wells was asleep in camp, his arms resting across his chest as he lay back against one of the trees, the base of it covered in miss and providing somewhat of a soft surface. He felt a hand clamp over his mouth and his eyes shot open, he turned his head to the side quickly and his eyes widened seeing who was knelt down by him. What worried him the most, was that he held a gun.

"Shh." Bellamy warned, his hand firmly clamped over the Chancellor's son's mouth. Bellamy waved the gun slightly in his face as a warning before he got up, taking his hand off Wells' mouth, a visible breath of air leaving as he exhaled due to how cold the forest was at night. Not having much choice, Wells got up, walking out of the camp with Bellamy tagging behind him, constantly aware of the gun in Bellamy's hand. They had approached a more desolate place, not much trees or foliage, a few dried up dead small trees and branches and lone small rocks, almost looking like a desert in the dark.

"That's far enough." Bellamy said sternly. Wells slowly turned around, his eyes still wide in fear. "I don't want to shoot you, Wells...hell, I like you...but I do need them to think that you're dead." He said, pointing his gun up to the air slightly meaning everyone else back at camp. "Why? Why are you doing this, for real, not some crap about getting to do what you want to do?" He asked seriously. Bellamy nodded a little to himself. "I have my reasons. I also...have the gun." He threatened. "So I ask the questions, and the question is, why aren't you helping me?" He asked. "Your dad banished you, Wells, and yet, here you are, still doing his bidding, following the rules." Bellamy said, just trying to understand why Wells was so stubborn. Wells sighed and rolled his eyes slightly not having a choice but to listen to him. "Aren't you tired of always doing what's expected of you? Stand up to him. Take off that wristband, and you'll be amazed at how good it feels." Bellamy said with a smile, just trying to get through to him.

"No. Never. Not gonna happen." Wells stated bluntly. "Is that clear enough for you?" He asked. Bellamy sniffed up for a moment before nodding. "Yeah. It is." He pulled back the top bar on the pistol, cocking it, the ammo clicking inside. "I'm sorry it had to be this way." He tucked the gun behind his belt, putting it away, though his face still serious. Wells frowned slightly not sure why he wasn't shooting him. He saw Bellamy staring at something and he turned to his side and his face fell even more seeing Murphy stood there with a twisted smile on his face and a metal bar in his hand.

He heard a crunch from behind him and turned around seeing two others getting closer to him. Wells made a run for it, sprinting up one of the banks towards the forest hoping he would be fast enough to escape. He reached the top of the slope, and managed to stand up but saw two kids up there waiting for him too. "No. No get off of me!" He yelled and struggled as they grabbed his arms and began to drag him back down the slope. "Come on man, let me go." Wells growled angrily, three of the boys now holding Wells down, pinning his arm down to one of the small stones on the ground as Murphy walked towards them. He continued shouting at them, begging them not to do it, not to take off his wristband, it was the only way for his father to know he was alive, they didn't listen, Murphy putting the metal rod beneath the wristband preparing to snap it off. He couldn't even see it as Bellamy walked away from them. Wells screamed loudly as the wristband was snapped off, the sound of the metal clicking and breaking filling the area, there was nothing he could do about it now.

Abby was still in the cell, staring out of one of the windows at Earth, knowing her daughter was on that planet and hopefully still safe. She heard the door click and swing open and she spun her head to the sound. "Doctor Griffin it's time." The man by the door said. Abby got up, following the man, her hands tied behind her back as she walked towards the airlock chamber, Cece and Jackson were soon by her side as she walked. She took in a small shaky breath but firmly shut her mouth a second later, not needing anyone to know how scared she was, of dying, of never seeing her daughter again, Clarke not knowing the truth.

She rounded the corner and saw the airlock chamber, protected by two guards and Kane and commander Shumway by the door. Abby turned to face her friends and gave a weak smile. "Callie." She called out, her voice barely a whisper. Cece stepped forward, immediately hugging her best friend, a quiet sob leaving her while Jackson beside them had tears in his eyes. "That's enough." Kane said calmly. "Watch out for Clarke for me." Abby whispered urgently, a serious but knowing look in her eyes as her friend was dragged away from her by one of the guards. They shared a nod, of course Cece wouldn't say no to that.

Abby felt her hands untied and she turned around, the guards tried to grab her arms but she struggled against them, not letting them get a grip on her, if she was going to die then she'd fucking walk by herself. Callie stood behind, guards still keeping her back and a hand over her mouth so she kept quiet. The airlock chamber door opened and Shumway flipped a few switches. Abby slowly walked forwards, she paused just by Kane as she stared at the outer seal in the chamber, the one she'd be floated out of and clenched her jaw slightly. Abby glanced to Kane, staring at him for a moment but saw Kane looking to Cece, almost a sympathetic look in his eyes for what he had to do.

Abby walked into the airlock, Shumway flipping a switch and the inner door beginning to close again. "Jackson!" Abby said quickly, her voice a little shaky now, Jackson immediately looked up. "Use the wristbands. There may be a way to reverse engineer them for communication. Talk to Sinclair in engineering. Nod if you understand." She said quickly before the doors closed. Jackson held back a few tears but he quickly nodded in response. Abby glanced at Kane through the dirty glass of the airlock chamber. He gave a nod to Shumway before looking back to Abby. Shumway was about to press the red button to open the airlock seal but a firm voice from behind him made him immediately drop his hand.

"Stop!"

The Chancellor walked in, a loud hiss of pain leaving him as he stepped into the room, one arm holding around his stomach, holding a cloth there that had some blood on it. He gripped onto one of the guards shoulders, a medic with him who clearly came with him to make sure he actually successfully got to the room, even one of the guards tried to keep the medic back. "Dr Griffin us pardoned." He said sternly. Abby let out a quiet sigh of relief inside seeing the Chancellor though she couldn't hear what was being said.

The Chancellor walked up to Kane, his eyes angrily piercing his and his jaw set like it was sculpted from stone. "I'll deal with you later." He warned before he looked to Shumway. "Open the door." He said. Shumway hesitated as he looked to Kane and Jaha Wells immediately stepped in. "Open. The. Door." He said slowly and seriously, his patience running thin.

Kane gave a nod to him and Shumway turned, opening the door to let Abby out. Abby heard a slight hiss and the door open. She stayed stood there for a moment before she walked out slowly and calmly, standing in front of the Chancellor. Jaha gave a small nod to her. Abby looked at the cloth and the blood seeping through the bandages and briefly looked up to him. "I spent 12 hours putting those intestines back together. Get him back to bed now." She said to the medic behind Jaha, her voice which was a little shaky as she spoken before had now turned to slight anger. She walked out, her hand grabbing onto Cece's and gently pulling her along with her, Callie happily followed, glad to be away from the airlock chamber.

"Tell me about the 100." The Chancellor said. "Did they make it?" He asked.
