Time passed, it been a week since he arrived in this place, he had been given garden duties, he tended to the flowers and herbs in the garden.
He had a mentor of course, an old man name Von, he had been working for the mistress as he called her for over 60 years. That surprised him, how old was she exactly?
He didn't dare ask that question, even with his low social skills he knew not to ask about a ladies age. One of the nurses in his past life had refused to talk to him for days after he asked how old she was.
He had noticed something though, this world did have magic, Von would water the garden by casting a water spell instead of using a hose or something.
He had tried to teach him but he was extremely bad at it. He could not even cast a single drop of water. He could the mana inside him move when he cast a spell but it was sluggish.
After that failure he went to look for the lady if the house. So what can I help you with? Can I use your library? He asked with a straight face.
Of course, may I ask what you looking for there, I might something or too. He bowed and left without answering her question. Even though they had shown him kindness he still did not fully trust her.
The library was on the first floor, it was large with probably thousands of books. He searched in the history section of this world. He found a book titled nature of the prime world.
He expected to find knowledge about the planet but what learnt was that the world being referred to here was the entire universe.
There was not much knowledge he could find. It detailed that this world had a form of energy called mana. This energy was ever present.
He read a passage that stated in the dawn of time, there was nothing, them existence and nihility came to be, in their wake followed laws and gods with them, the gods of laws willed celestial bodies like stars and star worlds into being, life followed.
The world prospered with an uncountable number of star worlds filled with life then the eternal war began, nobody knows who started it but it had lasted for as long as history can remember.
This was where it ended, there was nothing detailing the war after, to be more exact, it was as if that knowledge was cut out on purpose.
The rest of the book detailed unimportant things that held no interest to him, he put the book back and looked around for more. He found a thick book titled Ranks, grades, magic, skills and the system by Von Sief.
This is what he was looking for, he opened the book, the introduction was simple. There are 8 confirmed ranks of any living creature or non living.
They range from G rank all the way up to S rank, the ancient scholars in their infinite wisdom came up with names for each rank, with Acolyte being the equivalent of G rank.
Followed by either mage or warrior depending on the nature of ones class, then high, great, grand, supreme, arcane and lastly sovereign.
There had been theories of a rank above that of sovereign called Saint however it is either lies or the knowledge of them had been erased from history as no scholar nor historian had ever discovered it.
These ranks apply to living creatures, they are a measure of one existence value on the spectrum of the world, the higher ones spectrum is the stronger they are and longer they live.
It is even believed Sovereigns can live forever however there are few such being and all of are reclusive or eccentric, their view of the world differ from everybody else including their view on peoples lives.
They are also used to measure the level of techniques, whether it be magic or skills. The other way to measure techniques, weapons and bloodlines is through grades.
Unlike ranks there are only five known grades. Earth being the lowest, followed by heaven, legendary, mythical then lastly transcended.
The only known transcended ability among the human race are the seven virtues possessed by the seven heroes of humanity. Skill grades are determined during a skills creation.
Unlike ranks they don't grow alongside the use, it is of course possible to grow a skill into the next grade under certain conditions. Grades are also used to determine ones affinity towards elements. He sighed after reading all of that, then turned to the next page.
This page was about the system, finally, he needed a way check the notifications he keeps receiving in his head. It started by saying.
Nobody knows when or who created the system, atleast not anybody of this era, perhaps the ancient saints who might still be alive do, if they even exist for real.
I Von Sief of the Arcane magic tower had scoured the myriad star worlds in pursuit of my curiosity. I still have not found the truth of the system nor do I think I ever will.
However what I did discover was that people were mistaken on the role of the system. It is an assistance and nothing more. The scholars of many towers believed the system was the source of power.
That it was it that gave experience when one kills a living creature or trains, that it gives people the ability to use magic and determine the grade of peoples skills but that is not true.
The system merely records what is already there, it does makes absorbing aether from slain creatures easier and records it as experience.
Having the ability to record your progress and see happen in real can motivate one to work harder thus increasing their growth at a faster speed.
Another thing this one noticed was that regardless of which Star world the way to activate your system interface was the same. This is what Noel wanted, he had tried to use status as he learnt from novels In his past life to no avail, he continued reading.
Regardless of which language you say it in, the words are always [system interface}. He closed the book and sighed. System interface.
