Chapter 6 - The White Wolf Legend.

Cassian's POV

The white wolves are a sacred bloodline — direct messengers of the Moon Goddess, Selene. Every hundred years, Selene chooses a single family to bear a rare white wolf pup, destined to act as her voice in the mortal realm. These wolves are harbingers of either peace or chaos, born to tip the balance when the world begins to waver. They are her divine intervention, her chosen emissaries.

But the history of the white wolves is stained with blood.

The first generation, meant to bring balance, instead brought destruction. Their power corrupted them, and what was intended as salvation led to a devastating blood war that lasted decades. In the end, Selene herself was forced to execute her own children. The pain of that choice broke her, and she withdrew from the world, mourning in silence.

Since then, the crescent blood moon eclipse has appeared every hundred years — three nights when all wolves fall into a deep, helpless slumber. During this time, they are vulnerable to attacks from other creatures, and the balance teeters dangerously. To prevent history from repeating, Selene gifted the next generation of white wolves with protectors — fated mates destined to help them fulfill their purpose.

But even now, she still weeps for the first children she lost under the crescent blood moon.

---

I had spent days locked in my study, searching for anything that might explain what the white wolf meant. There was something... unnerving about her.

A knock broke through my thoughts.

Luke entered. "She's here, sir."

Leticia, our pack's seer, walked in, staff in hand.

"I called for you, Leticia."

"I assume she's finally spoken," she said, placing a parchment on my desk. "You're about to ask questions I've already answered. Read this. It will tell you everything you need to know."

She turned to leave but paused at the door. "Move her to the main house soon, Cassian. Everything she said is true. Her life — and yours — is in danger."

Then she was gone.

I frowned and unfolded the parchment. The words were faded, but still legible.

> "Legend of the Moonbound..."

I read aloud and leaned back in my chair.

> *"A white wolf shall appear in the coming century, and her presence shall shake the very balance of the supernatural world. She is fated to either awaken or destroy the order of the packs. Hunted by many, protected by one.

Black wolf, golden eyes.

White wolf, blue eyes.

He shall be fated to her.

She shall be fated to him.

He is cursed.

She is the cure.

He is the chaos.

She is the peace.

Together, they are the destroyer and the maker.

This union is blessed by Selene, goddess of the moon.

This prophecy was penned by the first seer of the Silverwolf Pack and passed down through the generations. A cursed alpha shall rise to lead this pack, and everything shall fall into place."*

I stared at the parchment, hands trembling slightly.

"What... what is this?"

I couldn't breathe. Couldn't move.

A prophecy. Centuries old. And Elara's appearance matched the timeline exactly. I pressed the parchment flat and steepled my fingers.

I've never believed in fate. But this... this shifted something in me.

Cursed because of a prophecy? Because I was meant to protect her? And she — she's supposed to be my mate?

A humorless laugh escaped me, sharp and bitter. Luke re-entered, raising a brow at the sound.

"Is everything alright, sir?"

I folded the parchment and tucked it into my desk drawer. No one else could see this — not yet.

"The fewer people who know, the better," I murmured.

Then, turning to Luke, I asked, "Do you believe in fate?"

He nodded. "Yes, I do, sir."

"I see." I rose and headed for the door. "I need to speak with our prisoner."

"You don't actually believe her, do you?" Luke asked, frowning.

"What if I do?" I paused. "What if she wasn't lying? How did she know about my curse? Did you tell her?"

"No, sir. I didn't. And I'm sure no one else has been foolish enough to visit her down there," he replied.

Exactly.

Something bigger is at play. And somehow, that woman — that white wolf — is at the center of it.
