It was around 11 pm. I had just worked overtime at my part time job. It's a hassle having to deal with school and work at the same time, but I need to help my father with paying rent and keeping food on the table. I was walking towards the bus stop when I saw something strange. It was a girl from my class, who was sleeping on the bus stop bench. She was not the type of person who used public transport. She was always picked up from school by car, and I doubt she had any reason to be out here this time. What was her name again, Jennifer, if my memory serves right?

I don't know if I want to ask what's going on here, but there are many bad people who roam these streets at night. She might call me a perv, hm, I have to make up my mind fast, the bus is supposed to be arriving soon, and it's going to be the last one. Okay, as much as I hate it, I can't live with myself if something happened to this girl.

"Hey…" She isn't waking up. I started shaking her body and shouted, "Hey, wake up, you brat, I have a bus to catch." I don't know if she woke up from being insulted or from the body shaking, but she did not look happy.

"Don't touch me!" she shouted. She got on my nerves with that, and I think I deserve to be praised for helping her out. She could at least be grateful.

"Hey, why are you acting so rude? You know many bad people walk these streets at night, plus you could have caught a cold sleeping here in you're school uniform."

She looked around and seemed to realize the situation she was in and said in a low voice, "Sorry..." After she said that, she got up, brushing the dust off her skirt and said, "Thank you…um".

This brat doesn't even know my name, it's been a whole 6 months since we've been in the same class.

"Oliver," I said impatiently.

"Thank you, Oliver," she said in a low voice.

"It's fine, now tell me why you were sleeping on that bench to begin with."

I was curious why she was here, it's unusual for her, I mean, she's supposed to be home right now.

"I ran away from home," she answered.

I shouldn't have asked. This feels awkward as hell now.

"Oh, sorry," I quickly replied.

We sat in silence for about a minute, one of the most uncomfortable moments in my life. In the distance, I heard the bus approaching and said, "Okay, start making your way home, I'm going on the bus."

I saw her expression turn angry and she spouted in a very aggressive tone, "DID I JUST NOT TELL YOU I RAN AWAY FROM HOME!" and continued without giving me room to talk, "WHAT KIND OF PERSON ARE YOU LEAVING A HIGH SCHOOL GIRL ALONE AT NIGHT!".

Oh boy, I messed up big time, let me think. Since she is my classmate, I can take her back to my house, but I don't know how she will react.

"Okay, since you have nowhere to stay and I will feel guilty leaving here, what about you come with me to my house for the night?" I said this expecting her to call me a weirdo and reject me, but instead her blue eyes grew, and a smile appeared on her face.

"Really, really, can I?" she shouted in excitement.

I was relieved she didn't badmouth me. Wait, does she have a bus ticket to get on the bus?

"Hey, by any chance do you have a bus ticket?"

As I asked this, her expression became gloomy again.

"No, I never have to use the bus, so I don't have one," she said in a sad voice.

That sucks. I can't walk home, it's just too far to walk, the only other option is taking a taxi, but a taxi is expensive. This girl will have to pay if she wants a roof over her head tonight.

"Okay, how about we take a taxi, you pay half, I pay half," I asked her.

"Sure, but I can pay for the full thing, so don't sweat about it," she said.

That makes things easier on me if she can pay. She took her phone out of her pocket and went on the taxi app, and ordered one. The taxi soon arrived and picked us up. We sat in an awkward silence the whole trip.

Once we arrived, she paid the taxi dude and caught up to me. I opened the front door and was greeted by my father on the living room couch watching a soap opera.

"You're later than usua…" My father stopped mid-sentence as he saw Jennifer walk up behind me.

"Oh, this, she's my classmate Jennifer," I said.

She quickly introduced herself to my father in a low voice, "I'm Jennifer MacMorris, sorry for intruding."

My father showed an expression of anxiety when he heard Jennifer introduce herself, then quickly replied, "Michael Green, uhm Oli, can I talk with you real quick?"

He walked into the kitchen, signaling for me to follow him, then I said to Jennifer, "I'll be right back, make yourself comfortable."

I entered the kitchen, and my father grabbed my hand and said in a quiet yet stressed voice, "Why did you bring a MacMorris into our household?"

I was confused by this question and said, "She had no place to stay, so I invited her."

My father seemed dissatisfied with this answer and continued, "Do you have any idea who her father is?"

I shook my head.

"Well, to fill you I,n my uneducated son, that girl's father owns a majority of the construction companies in the country, including the one I work for."

It took me a moment to process what he just said, and when it dawned on me who this girl was, I grew extremely nervous.

I looked into the living room where she was sitting on the couch watching whatever my father left on, then I looked back at my father and said, "CRAP WHAT HAVE I DONE."

My mind started going wild. What if her father thinks his daughter was kidnapped by me or what if he thinks I did unspeakable things to his daughter?

I calmed down and said to my father, "Well, there is nothing more we can do. She said she ran away from home. The least we can do is feed her and give her a roof for the night."

My dad seemed to have also calmed down and agreed with my plan, then we went into the living room. My dad said to her, "My son explained the situation to me; you are welcome to stay in my house for the night if it meets your standards."

She seemed a little confused at the last bit of his sentence, and she said happily, "Thank you very much!"

I took her to my room. When I opened the door, she said, "This room is cleaner than I thought. I hear boys' rooms are usually messy with dirty magazines lying around."

This brat, what does she take of me? I grumpily replied, "Of course my room is clean, what do you take me for, a pig? Plus, dirty magazines are things of the past, everything is digitalized now."

Then she quickly said in a disgusted voice, "So you admit to watching lewd content."

I was speechless, and when she saw my reaction, she burst out in laughter and said, "You should have seen the expression on your face, it was priceless."

This cheeky brat, how can she make fun of me? As I thought that I caught her glance. She was genuinely cute with an expression like that on her face. I must have been staring too long because she stopped laughing and said, "Hey, better not be thinking dirty of me."

I got embarrassed and looked away and said, "Like hell I'd think dirty of a pig like you."

She shouted, "Hey rude much," then we both burst out laughing.

After we settled, I pointed to my bed and said, "You sleep there tonight." Then pointed towards the bathroom in the hall. "If you need to shower or use the toilet, go there, there are also towels in there, by the way."

She then said, "Thanks." She quickly walked off to the bathroom and took a shower. I went to the living room to make her something to eat.

After about 10 minutes, I heard her in a low voice across the hall. "Oliver, come here quick."

I turned down the heat on the stove and went to my room. I opened the door and saw her in nothing but a towel. She then saw me and shouted, "Hey, knock before entering." Then continued without giving me a chance to reply, "What am I supposed to wear, since all I have is my school uniform?"

I said to her, "You really did a bad job of running away." Then I walked over to my closet and picked out some old pajamas. "These should fit nicely since you have a relatively small figure."

She then lectured me, saying, "You're not supposed to comment on a woman's figure, yanno, thanks though."

I walked out of the room and then finished preparing food for her. I went to my room, knocked this time, and when I got the go-ahead, I walked in and saw her. The pajamas fitted her well except for the shirt around her chest.

I then gave her the food and said, "Here, eat something, you'll get skinny if you don't."

She then said in a light voice, "Thank you."

She started eating then I went into the bathroom to clean myself up. I went back to my room and found her lying down on my bed. I then took out a mattress and a few blankets. She then asked me, "Why are you sleeping on the floor? the bed is big enough for the two of us."

I looked at her and said, "You can't sleep in the same bed as me, you are too good for me."

She then looked at me and said cheekily, "what do you mean by that?" and I stupidly said, "You know, a person of your status and my status shouldn't be seen together. I'm not good enough to befriend you, your father is going to kill me."

As I said that I realized the mistake. She then became upset and blurted out, "A person of my status? What do you know about me why do you care about my status why did you bring my father into this, I thought you could be someone that could look at me for who I am, I thought I'd love you, but you're no better than the rest of the boys at school who just see me as a walking money bag, that is probably why you approached me, are you happy now!"

As she finished this she got out of bed and ran out the room to the entrance and left the house.

This seemed to alert my father, because he came out of his room and said, "what just happened."

Then I replied, "I messed up, I don't know how to fix this."

Then my father said, "Oli, I don't know what happened between you two, but if anything happens to that girl, I will personally kill you." Then he paused for a moment and brushed his hair with his hand then continued, "Look I don't know what happened between the two of you, but from what I've heard you two were having a good time together laughing, I think you go out there and go make up and apologize to her, or don't bother coming back unless you're with her."

I looked at my father then said to him, "thank you." I ran out the front door as I ran on looking for her. She could have been anywhere. I ran under the moon with my bare feet hitting the freezing concrete on the sidewalk.

After about 13 minutes of looking around I saw her. Her blond hair shining under the light of the moon. I mustered the courage and shouted "Jennifer." She didn't respond then I shouted "Jenny."

That caught her off guard and she looked back at me. I saw tears running down from her blue eye, my heart hurt when I saw this. She then said, "Why did you follow me you jerk."

There was a strange feeling in my heart and before I knew it, I blurted, "Jenny I'm sorry."

She then cut me off and said, "Don't call me that."

I ignored what she had just said and continued, "I was idiotic for saying what I said back there. To be honest with you, in the short time we got to know each other I fell in love with your personality. I didn't know who your father was or how much wealth he had nor did I care. You have a very bright personality and like spewing out rude jokes at people, but that uniqueness is beautiful and I wouldn't trade it for anything."

I walked closer to her and brought my face close to hers then whispered, "Jenny, I love you." Then I kissed her.

The kiss lasted about 2 minutes, the best moment of my life so far.

When I pulled away, she was in a daze before she then said, "I never knew you were so corny." and started laughing.

I then looked at her dumbfounded. This girl—I did all this for her, I expressed how I feel, and she laughs like this.

She then snickered and said, "I love you too Oli."

I blushed and said, "Who said you can call me Oli."

She then replied with the same question to me, "And who said you can call me Jenny."

We laughed for a bit, and I said to her, "Let's go back home."

She agreed and we started walking back.

"Riiiiingggggggggg"

Ugh, my alarm is so loud. Looks like I had that same dream again. I wonder why I keep having that dream. It breaks my heart to come out of such a love filled romance, but I mean it's corny as hell.
