Chapter 21 - Menchi

In the Samok Desert, yellow sand filled the sky, countless sand dunes of varying sizes stood on the ground, and occasional gusts of wind kicked up thread-like yellow dust.

In this yellow world, three figures were moving quickly across the sand, It was Menchi, Akira, and Gardevoir!

The three moved at an extremely fast pace, so fast that even the flying sand couldn't cover their footprints in time. Leaving three long straight lines behind...

Menchi held a map of the Samok Desert in her left hand, and a yellow ant compass in her right. In the vast desert, they had to be constantly aware of their position.

White sand scorpions had no fixed distribution and were rare in number, so finding them relied on luck. With good luck, they might encounter one within a day, but with bad luck... They couldn't just wander around aimlessly because of this.

If something went wrong with the yellow ant compass, it wouldn't be good if the two got lost in the desert.

So although they were searching for white sand scorpions of unknown whereabouts, overall they were traveling on a route from one city to another. This effectively avoided the risk of getting lost in the desert.

White sand scorpions were really scarce, and who knew how long it would take to find one... Originally, Menchi was worried about this.

Even with Gardevoir to catch the white sand scorpions, how could they catch anything if they couldn't even see a single claw? Although she could use "En", she couldn't use it constantly as it was too draining.

"En" was an advanced technique in Nen application. The size of space that could be released varied according to each person's strength. Generally speaking, Emitters were better at using "En" compared to other Nen types.

This was perhaps because the principle of using "En" was to release aura in the form of space. Within this space, every movement of objects could be detected, but the cost was also very high.

Until Akira actively informed her that Gardevoir not only had teleportation abilities, but also sensing abilities that could be used around the clock.

Only then did Menchi beam with joy, repeatedly patting Akira shoulder saying she had really found a treasure! Akira abilities couldn't be more suitable for the current situation.

Now they didn't lack sensing ability or capturing ability, they just needed some luck. But it seemed the goddess of luck had no intention of visiting the two.

By the end of the day, they still hadn't found any white sand scorpions, but considering it was only the first day, they didn't say anything.

It was naturally impossible to sleep in the city every night in this vast desert.

So Menchi opened the portable tent she had brought along and set it up on the spot — they were going to camp in the wild tonight. And this was the first day, which might very well not be the last.

The portable tent was very convenient, usually just a brick-sized cube. With a bit of force applied to the button on top, the cube would quickly transform into a sturdy tent. Due to the high cost of these tents, they were rarely seen in use in the desert.

Seeing Akira standing still beside her, Menchi thought he had forgotten to bring a tent, so she reached into her backpack. She intended to take out her spare tent for Akira.

Just as she took out the second tent, Menchi witnessed an unbelievable sight.

"Gengar, spit out the tent." Akira said to the void, his face completely calm.

What Gengar? Is he talking to me?

Menchi turned her head to look at Akira, only to see a mass of purple-black gas emerge from Akira shadow. Although it was a mass of gas, Menchi could see a pair of crimson eyes, a wide mouth, and short limbs on it.

Then a luxurious tent that was already set up was spat out from the mouth of the unknown creature... Wait Spat out from its mouth?!

"Wait... is this... another one of your Nen beasts?" Menchi suppressed her surprise and asked with a puzzled expression.

"Yes, it's called Gengar. It can store things. All my items are kept in its belly without any issues." Akira stroked the head of the adorable Gengar beside him as he spoke with a smile. At that moment, Gengar was grinning widely and making faces at Menchi.

"Gengar, Gengar!"

It seems every Gengar has a fondness for mischief...

"So cute..."

Looking at Gengar making faces, Menchi cheeks turned slightly red as she muttered softly.

Then she realized another key point and exclaimed loudly while pointing at Gengar.

"WAIT! It can store items without problems?!"

"Uh... yes!" Akira was a bit confused as to why Menchi was surprised twice.

In the next scene, Akira witnessed the performance of the second face-changing master he had seen since coming to the Hunter x Hunter world. The first one was the casino owner Pierce...

Menchi face seemed to lose control as she stared at Gengar big belly.

First, she looked happy, then regretful, and finally dejected.

Akira quickly asked, and Menchi finally explained with a distant look in her eyes.
