Lucas focused on the new interface window that appeared after the boys reached a new level. He saw several tabs in it: Character Card, Skills, Equipment. As soon as he thought about entering the Skills window, the UI immediately changed into a list divided into three groups: Defense, Healing, and Buffs. In the first group, he had only one active ability available – Lesser Protection, the rest of the skills were blocked and he couldn't see what they were called. The only visible skills he could learn were in the group of healing spells.
"You have one skill point. Skills:
Lesser Protection (Level 1/5) – can be used on yourself or another creature
Available skills:
- Lesser Healing
- Cure minor disease
"What do you think I should choose?"
"Maybe the healing skill, sooner or later, will certainly be useful to us, and knowing our luck it will be rather sooner"
Lucas took his friend's advice and chose the healing skill.
"You rubbed your skin, I'll try to cure it"
Lucas used the ability on Jason's injured hand, the hand was healed in an instant, and there was no sign of the abrasion.
"Hmmm, I feel a lot less tired than after using the shield, probably because this wound wasn't too serious..."
"Probably yes, but let me not hurt myself intentionally just so you can better test a new skill," Jason joked. "Okay, now I'll see what I can learn."
Jason noticed that his swarm ability also had 5 possible levels. He had the following skill groups available: Summoning, Summoning Buff, and Survival. He had only one skill available to learn:
"Summoning a Guardian Raven – You summon a Raven, it has sharp eyes and very good hearing, it will certainly perceive impending danger. Unfortunately, its offensive value is negligible. (Mana cost 5).
Jason chose a new ability without consulting his colleague and used it right away. A yellow wheel appeared in front of the boy with spinning runic symbols, just like when he first summoned the wasps. As soon as the wheel disappeared, a black raven sat on the ground in its place, it was the size of a basketball
"Wow, he looks badass, I envy you again. What can he do?"
"From the description, it seems that he should only watch out for us. I thought he might be on guard at night when we are sleeping."
"Good idea. Speaking of sleeping, we've been here for a few hours, maybe we should look for a place to camp"
"Yes, you can't see the sky clearly in this forest, but it started to get darker, we have two or three hours before sunset - at most"
The boys began to move away from the place where they woke up, the raven turned out to be more intelligent than the swarm of wasps, thanks to which it showed the boys the direction, after an hour of walking they reached a small hill, next to which a small stream flowed. Judging by the fact that the raven drank the water from the stream, it must have been clean. The boys followed the example of the bird and also quenched their thirst.
"I wonder what our parents are doing now, I didn't have a lot of friends at school, but my parents are definitely worried," Jason said
"Mine too, but for now we don't even know where we are, let's try to survive, maybe with time it will be explained how we got here and how to get home"
"You misunderstood me, I miss my parents, I'm curious how we got here, but I don't want to go back anywhere. What should I miss? For being a pushover at school? Am I supposed to wait for the end of school and a crazy career as a plumber in our town?" – Jason mused.
"Yes, I know what you're thinking. Nothing good awaits me in Sunnybrook either. This may be a chance for us to do more. Let's take a look around the area before it gets dark. Maybe we will find something interesting. Do you think these summons of yours won't disappear when we go to sleep?"
"I think not. The Raven is called a Guardian, and the summoning description states that the summons continue until I revoke them or the summoned creatures die. In addition, I only have one mana point, as if each summon takes a certain amount of mana, which has not started to recharge. I don't think I can get it back if I don't revoke the summoned beings."
"Yes, it makes sense, my mana after using the shield and healing regenerated in a few minutes, I thought it was the same with you"
"Unfortunately not, wasps and the raven seem to consume everything"
"I'll check, one more thing, my interface says I have a notebook on my inventory, I'll check what it is" – Lucas focused on the notebook in his inventory, unfortunately the following message immediately appeared on his interface:
"You can't use the item, level too low."
"Uh, I can't use this notebook. The interface says I haven't reached the required level yet"
"Hmm, maybe then we can train again, who knows, maybe we can go to the next level"
Unfortunately, the boys quickly stopped training. It turned out that attacking the shield and each other no longer gives them any experience points.
"Too bad, I guess we need to find another way to get stronger," Lucas said sleepily.
"Apparently, but I think we will have more than one opportunity to do so."
