Chapter 1 - The Ex Cheats, a New Encounter Quietly Arrives

Night had fallen, and the city lights glowed brightly. Under the crisscrossing neon, Jiangcheng was shrouded in a haze of light and shadow. A few pedestrians walked along the street, and the air was laced with the faint scent of street food. Lights reflected off the damp cobblestone road, casting a colorful shimmer.

Wen Zhi stood at the entrance of Lin Chuan Western Restaurant, her body stiff, fingertips cold.

Her gaze pierced through the half-open glass doors and landed on a couple seated by the window — the man was leaning slightly, gently brushing a strand of hair from the woman's face. The movement was tender and natural.

It was Jiang Yushen.

Her ex-boyfriend.

The same man who, just three days ago, claimed he was "so busy he didn't even have time to eat."

Wen Zhi's lips curled into a faint smile, but her eyes were icy.

— So much for being busy.

She stepped into the restaurant, the sound of her heels crisp against the floor, matching the rhythmic click of leather shoes. When she reached Jiang Yushen's table, the woman opposite him finally noticed her and turned slightly.

It was a beautiful, refined face, with a touch of flirtation at the corners of her eyes.

She recognized the woman too — Jiang Yushen's colleague, who just months ago had affectionately called her "Zhi Zhi-jie." And now? She sat there, letting him brush her hair aside and dine intimately. The two sat so close, they seemed eager to announce their relationship to the world.

Wen Zhi's gaze calmly swept over her, finally landing on Jiang Yushen. "So this is what being 'busy' looks like."

She felt oddly calm, even more than she had imagined.

Jiang Yushen froze, clearly caught off guard. His expression stiffened.

"Zhi Zhi, listen—"

"Don't call me that," Wen Zhi said coldly. "It's disgusting."

The woman's face tensed, and she looked at Jiang Yushen defensively. "Who is she?"

Jiang Yushen opened his mouth, but said nothing.

Wen Zhi let out a low laugh, looking down at him. "Aren't you going to introduce me?"

Before he could respond, she added, "Forget it. I can guess."

She stood still for a moment, then pulled out her phone. With a few taps, she moved Jiang Yushen's profile into the "Blocked" list.

Clean and decisive, without a trace of hesitation.

If he didn't cherish her, then she didn't need to linger.

She glanced at them one last time, then reached out, picked up the wine glass on the table, and gave it a slight tilt — the deep red liquid splashed onto Jiang Yushen's pristine white shirt.
