Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 13

Kaira nodded, agreeing to let Grey take her home. Together, they left the academy's infirmary, Grey walking beside her with a gentle yet firm stride.

As they walked, Kaira couldn't help but steal glances at Grey, wondering what was going through his mind. Why was he being so attentive and caring towards her?

The silence between them was comfortable, and Kaira felt a sense of ease with Grey that she hadn't experienced before. When they reached Kaira's home, Grey bid her a gentle farewell, his eyes locking onto hers for a brief moment before he turned and left.

Kaira watched him go, her heart filled with a mix of emotions.

As they entered the house, Kaira's parents, Alyssa and Ryker, were waiting in the living room, concern etched on their faces. When they saw Kaira, they rushed to her side, relief washing over them.

"Kaira, sweetie, how are you feeling?" Alyssa asked, examining her daughter's face.

"I'm fine, Mom. I'm just a bit tired," Kaira replied, smiling weakly.

Ryker's eyes narrowed. "What happened? The academy called and said you were in the infirmary."

Kaira took a deep breath and explained the events that led to her hospitalization. Her parents listened intently, their expressions growing more worried by the minute.

Just then, Kaira remembered Grey was still standing there. "Mom, Dad, this is Grey. He's a student at the academy, and he...he helped me."

Alyssa and Ryker turned to Grey, their faces filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Grey," Alyssa said, her voice sincere. "We can't thank you enough for looking out for our daughter."

Ryker added, "Yes, we're in your debt. Please, come in, and let's talk more about this."

Grey nodded politely. "Thank you for the offer, but I should get going. I just wanted to make sure Kaira got home safely."

Kaira's parents nodded understandingly, but Kaira herself felt a pang of disappointment that Grey was leaving so soon.

"Thank you, Grey," Kaira said, her voice heartfelt. "I really appreciate what you did for me."

Grey's eyes met hers, and for a moment, they just looked at each other. Then Grey nodded and turned to leave.

As Grey departed, Kaira's parents bombarded her with questions about what had happened at the academy. Kaira did her best to fill them in, but she couldn't shake the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't yet imagine.Kaira spent the evening getting ready for the dinner party, her excitement growing with every passing minute. She slipped into a stunning black evening gown, the fitted bodice accentuating her slender waist. The dress was made of luxurious silk, with intricate lace details that sparkled in the light. A delicate silver necklace adorned her neck, complementing the dress's understated elegance.

Kaira curled her hair, the soft waves cascading down her back like a waterfall. She added a touch of makeup, enhancing her natural beauty without overpowering it. A light dusting of powder, a swipe of mascara, and a subtle lip gloss completed her look.

As she finished getting ready, Kaira took a deep breath, feeling a sense of confidence and poise. She opened the door to her room and stepped out into the hallway, where her parents were waiting.

Alyssa and Ryker's jaws dropped in unison as they took in Kaira's stunning appearance. "Wow, sweetie, you look...breathtaking," Alyssa breathed, her eyes shining with pride.

Ryker nodded in agreement, his face beaming with admiration. "You're absolutely gorgeous, Kaira. We're so proud of the young woman you're becoming."

Kaira blushed, feeling a warmth spread through her chest at her parents' words. She smiled, feeling like the luckiest person alive to have such loving and supportive parents.

With one last check of her appearance, Kaira nodded, ready to face whatever the evening might bring. Her parents accompanied her to the door, still marveling at her beauty and poise.

As they left the house, Kaira felt a sense of anticipation building within her. What would the dinner party be like? Would she fit in with the Royals and the other esteemed guests? And what about Grey – would he be watching over her like a silent guardian, or would he keep his distance?

Just as Kaira and her parents were about to leave, the doorbell rang. Alyssa went to answer it, and a moment later, Grey stood in the entrance, looking dashing in his tailored suit. His eyes met Kaira's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other.

Alyssa's eyes widened in surprise, and Ryker's face lit up with a warm smile. "Grey, you're here to escort Kaira?" Alyssa asked, her voice filled with delight.

Grey nodded, his expression calm and collected. "Yes, I'll be escorting Kaira to the dinner party."

Kaira's parents exchanged a look, and without a word, they knew exactly what they were thinking. Alyssa took Grey's hand and placed it in Kaira's, a gesture of approval and blessing.

"We're glad you're looking out for our daughter, Grey," Ryker said, his voice filled with gratitude. "You two make a lovely couple."

Kaira's face flushed, and Grey's expression remained neutral, but a hint of a smile played on his lips. With their hands joined, Kaira felt a spark of electricity run through her body. She couldn't help but wonder what this meant for their relationship.

As they left the house, Kaira's parents watched them go, beaming with happiness. "They're perfect for each other," Alyssa whispered to Ryker, her eyes shining with tears.

Ryker nodded in agreement, his face filled with a warm smile. "Yes, they are."

As they walked to the car, Grey couldn't help but steal glances at Kaira, his eyes drawn to her stunning beauty. The black dress hugged her curves perfectly, and her curled hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall. He felt a sense of pride and possessiveness, knowing that he was the one escorting her to the dinner party.

Kaira, too, couldn't help but notice Grey's dashing appearance. His tailored suit accentuated his broad shoulders, and his piercing eyes seemed to see right through her. She felt a flutter in her chest as their hands touched, and she couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to be with him.

As they drove to the dinner party, the tension between them was palpable. Grey's eyes kept drifting to Kaira's face, and she couldn't help but meet his gaze. They exchanged a few words, but mostly they just looked at each other, the air thick with unspoken emotions.

When they arrived at the venue, Grey got out of the car and offered Kaira his hand. She took it, and he helped her out, his eyes never leaving hers. For a moment, they just stood there, the world around them melting away.

Grey's voice was low and husky as he whispered, "You look stunning, Kaira." Kaira's heart skipped a beat as she replied, "Thanks, Grey. You don't look so bad yourself."

Their eyes locked, and for a moment, it seemed like nothing else mattered except for the two of them.As Grey and Kaira stepped into the grand ballroom, all eyes turned to them, and the room fell silent. The King and Queens of the kingdoms, including King Arthur and Queen Aurora Cromwell, couldn't help but stare at Kaira's breathtaking beauty. Her black dress sparkled in the light, and her curled hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall.

Grey's eyes never left Kaira's face as he escorted her into the room. He seemed to be basking in the attention, his pride and possessiveness evident in every step. Kaira, on the other hand, felt a mix of emotions - she was both thrilled and intimidated by the attention.

The Royals, including Luke, Josh, and Valir Vladd, looked on with varying degrees of surprise and insecurity. Luke's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in annoyance. Josh's face fell, his eyes dropping to the floor. Valir Vladd's expression turned calculating, his eyes assessing the situation.

The King and Queens, however, were not subtle in their admiration. King Arthur's eyes widened, and Queen Aurora Cromwell's mouth dropped open. "Good heavens, child, you are stunning," Queen Aurora exclaimed.

The room erupted into a flurry of whispers and murmurs, with everyone speculating about Kaira's identity and her relationship with Grey. As they made their way through the crowd, Grey's hand on Kaira's waist seemed to be a claim of ownership, and Kaira couldn't help but feel like she was his.

The night had just begun, and already, the dynamics of the room had shifted. Kaira's beauty and Grey's possessiveness had set tongues wagging, and it remained to be seen how the rest of the evening would unfold.
