After school.
Akeno came up to Jinrang immediately after they finished their last lesson.
"Hey, come with me." She told him, and Jinrang noted that she seemed to be…tense.
"I'm coming." He replied while getting up and grabbing his backpack.
Akeno led the way to the clubhouse, Jinrang followed along silently.
They made their way inside, before Akeno brought him to one of many empty rooms.
She stood there silently, for a second before taking a deep breath.
"What is it Akeno?" Jinrang asked with concern.
"I wanted to… talk to you about something." She answered, her voice shaking.
"I'm all ears." He answered shortly.
"I'm a… fallen angel." She spoke as her other feathery wing sprouted out from her back
Jinrang stared at her wing for some time, Akeno was getting increasingly nervous under his gaze.
"Akeno, knowing about that doesn't change my perspective of you. I see that this was troubling you for some reason, so don't let it bother you." Jinrang said.
Akeno knew that Jinrang didn't hate fallen angels, despite his brief but bad experience with them she heard from Rias about it, about how he told Issei to not let experience with Raynare cloud his judgement about the fallens.
But hearing that from the man she had a crush on was much better.
Akeno hugged him back tightly, before continuing to speak.
"I just wanted you to know… because I have another reason for bringing you here." Akeno looked up at him.
"Go on, tell me whatever you want. I'll be here and listen to your every word." Jinrang said smiling as he
"I'm aware that we've only known each other for a short time, but I want to say that… I want to be with you." Akeno said still clinging onto him but avoiding his gaze.
Jinrang's brain almost short circuited, key word almost.
"I-I think you should get to know me better first…" He finally spoke.
Akeno looked up and saw his shy face, which didn't suit his body at all.
"But I know you very well, you're a kind and gentle soul, but also lazy at times, you dislike lying, you like eating and cooking and you never speak when you eat, I also noticed that you're not someone who lusts after every girl he sees, I know this because ever since we got to know each other, you've never stared inappropriately at me, Rias or any other woman for that matter, I also know that you care for your friends, I can go on and on but in short, I like everything about you." Akeno said, not breaking eye contact.
Jinrang was… astonished, in this short time that he has known her, she understood his character, his likes and dislikes.
He sighed, 'Stalling for time is pointless, she mustered up the courage to tell me all this… I knew it, this girl is… amazing.' He thought to himself.
"I-I… feel the same Akeno, in this short time we spent together, I've grown fond of you and… I want to be together with you as well." He answered her confession with the biggest smile Akeno had ever seen on his face.
Happiness overwhelmed both couples, as they leaned in and shared a kiss.
(Fuck me writing this type of shit is kinda cringy, how do authors do this shit?)
They separated and gazed at each other with loving eyes, taking in and burning each other's happiness in their memory.
The two went and got dinner at a nearby restaurant, it was night by the time they finished eating.
Akeno slept at Jinrang's place, before they slept they talked about some mundane things, and finally once they tired themselves out from talking they fell asleep while holding each other in their arms.
In the middle of the night though, there was a flash of red, and there stood Rias Gremory and an unknown silver-haired woman in a maid outift.
Rias was about to call out to Akeno, but she noticed the surroundings were different, and quickly realized that this was Jinrang's house.
She then noticed the slightly open door to one of the rooms, she silently peeked in and saw her two friends cuddled up together, blissfully sleeping.
She smiled sadly at the sight before she signaled the other lady and just as they came, they disappeared in a flash of red.
Next morning, Rias called for a club meeting everyone was to get there on time, no exceptions, no excuses.
Slowly the group gathered, Jinrang and Akeno got there last.
The whole group was gathered inside the spacious room, with one other person.
She was a grey-haired lady, great proportions unique outfit, she wore a maid outfit to be exact.
'Seeing this is just weird man.' Jinrang thought to himself as glanced at the woman, with his usual blank face.
She too observed him curiously, before she recognized him.
"You must be Jinrang, a pleasure to meet you." She spoke as she approached him.
"You know me, but sadly I don't know you." He spoke calmly.
Akeno glanced at him as well, noticing that the lady's features didn't seem to faze him, she smiled to herself
"I'm the queen piece of Sirzechs Lucifer, Grayfia Lucifuge. It seems you had a brief encounter with my master and you also left a strong impression on Milicas." The woman now known as Grayfia explained quickly.
"You've met my brother?" Rias asked from behind her.
"More like glanced at him from afar, and to be honest he terrified me, I almost crapped myself."
Jinrang explained without a hint of shame.
Issei and Asia were shocked, but Issei even more
'Jinrang?! President's brother terrified him?!'
Grayfia chuckled, "I'm surprised to hear you say that without a hint of shame, I was expecting you to be more prideful."
"My master did notice that you were… tense, when interacting with Milicas, I guess you knew about Satan Lucifer?"
"Something like that, I'm only aware of his power and what he looks like I don't know much else about him."
"Is president's brother really that terrifying?" Issei questioned, he couldn't believe the words that left Jinrang's mouth.
"Well Issei, he's the strongest devil amongst the strongest devils so yes, he's terrifying. If that still doesn't convince you, know that when I interacted with Milicas, I thought that if I made a sudden movement, even the slightest twitch of a muscle, I'd die."
"Now you're exaggerating, my brother isn't some stuck-up devil, who'd incinerate you just for interacting with his kid." Rias chimed in while crossing her arms.
"I didn't know that at the time." Jinrang explained as he took a seat on the couch.
"I see, My master wasn't doing anything to put pressure on you, he was just curious about you because he sensed your strength." Grayfia clarified before continuing, "At first, he thoroughly investigated you, but when he realized that you weren't involved in the supernatural world he backed off, he guessed that you didn't want to be involved and didn't disturb your daily life, but now that you've decided to come to this side, His curiosity was ignited once more."
"…I see." Jinrang said before he went silent.
"See? Sirzechs Lucifer isn't some terrifying monster." Akeno said to him.
"I get that now, I'm not against meeting him but, I'd appreciate a heads up."
Grayfia nodded, before heading back to stand next to Rias.
Jinrang went ahead and took a seat on the sofa, Akeno followed and sat beside him.
"Now, Lady Rias may I begin?" Grayfia asked for permission
Rias raised her hand, signaling her to stop before she started speaking.
"As it happens…" But before she could explain properly, an orange magic circle appeared in the room followed by an explosion of flames, and a sound of a bird.
"Phoenix?" Kiba questioned from behind.
"Hmph, it's been quite some time since I've been to the human world." A deep voice of a man came from the circle while the flames disappeared to reveal the owner of said voice.
It was a blonde-haired man wearing a rather expensive looking red suit, and a white button-up shirt underneath.
He had a condescending smirk on the whole time as he observed everyone inside the room.
"I've come to see you, my beloved Rias!" He spoke arrogantly, as his eyes fixated on Rias.
Hearing his voice, Rias frowned in both disgust and hatred towards this man, Jinrang didn't expect Rias to be capable of such an expression.
"Who's this guy?" Issei asked.
"This is Lord Riser, A pure-blooded upper-class devil, third son of the noble house Phoenix."
"House of Phoenix?" Issei repeated to himself.
"And he is the fiancée of the next head of the Gremory house."
"You don't mean-" Issei interrupted once again.
"In simple terms, he's Lady Rias' betrothed."
"B-Betrothed?!" Issei shouted, as Riser smirked.
Riser's smirk was still present on his face, Rias sighed deeply as she sat down on the sofa in front of Jinrang and Akeno, Riser took the chance and sat next to her.
Akeno was about to get up to prepare tea, as much as she disliked the man in front of her, he was still an upper-class devil, so as hosts the Gremory peerage had to show hospitality.
However, she felt a tug at her shirt, as she. Looked down to see Jinrang signaling her not to move, so Akeno sat back down.
Her lover whispered, "Don't be so kind to guests who don't respect the hosts."
"Ah, my beloved Rias how I missed you." Riser spoke while smirking, as he began to play with Rias' gorgeous red hair, and rubbed her thigh as well.
'This despicable scumbag… is supposed to be president's fiancée?!' He shouted in his mind, he just couldn't believe it.
"Enough of that." Rias had enough as she got up.
"Riser, I've told you countless times, I am not going to marry you."
"But Rias, I think that your family's circumstances are desperate enough to not allow you to be so inconsiderate."
Rias clenched her fists tightly in anger, "I won't bring my house to ruin, I won't marry you. I will marry whoever I want." She spoke sternly.
"It is a duty for pure-blood devils to replenish the population we lost in the last war, both your father and Sirzechs decided on this arrangement with the future in mind."
Riser explained trying to convince her.
"My father, my brother and the entire clan, is in a rush. I will say it again Riser, I will not marry you!" She practically shouted that last part.
Riser clicked his tongue and got up abruptly, he grabbed Rias' chin and brought his face closer to hers.
"Rias, I bear the reputation and prestige of my family, and I can't have you besmirching my name." He spoke, while frowning.
The peerage behind tensed, even Akeno at his sudden movement.
Jinrang was getting irritated now, this arranged marriage stuff may be common practice and normal for devils, but he as a human being found it wrong and disgusting.
"Even if i have to incinerate your peerage, and your new friend here… I'll bring you the underworld with me."
The group tensed and got ready to defend themselves.
Their magic flared for a second, Rias' power of destruction, and the Phoenix's signature hellfire.
Instead of Grayfia, it was Jinrang who got up.
He placed his hands on their shoulders, "Why don't we calm down friends? I believe there to be a solution to both your problems, as far as I know, devils respect power above all else, so why not settle it by fighting?"
Jinrang spoke out of character, normally he's the type of guy to punch and ask questions later, but this was a situation where he couldn't do that, even though he really wanted to piece up chicken right now.
"Indeed, Sirzechs Lucifer sent me here for that purpose, Lady Rias, if you don't wish to marry Lord Riser, I'm afraid you'll have to settle it in a rating game." Grayfia approached them and said her part.
"See? Problem solved." Jinrang smiled as well, Akeno could tell that it was forced, very forced.
"…For how long is your hand going to be on my shoulder?" Riser asked as Jinrang's hand lit on fire.
Grayfia and the others except Akeno and Rias reacted immediately, getting ready to defend Jinrang.
Grayfia noticed something odd though, even though Jinrang's hand was on fire, he wasn't reacting, and she couldn't smell the scent of burning flesh either.
"You bastard!" Issei shouted, but stopped right as he was about to charge in to attack.
Asia also gasped, and was about to rush towards him to help, but she was stopped by Issei.
"Listen tough guy." Jinrang spoke, not even bothering to remove his hand from Riser's shoulder.
"While you're here as a guest, try to be more polite, next time instead of a warning you'll get a fist." Jinrang spoke as he leaned down further and further.
He finally took off his hand, and the fire disappeared immediately.
Riser stood there without flinching, he wasn't intimidated in the slightest, sure he was surprised that he didn't react to the flames but that was it.
Riser phoenix wasn't someone who ONLY relied on his clan ability, he could fight with his fists if he wanted to.
Jinrang finally took of his hand and the fire went out immediately.
Asia rushed to his side, grabbing his arm.
"Jinrang! let me-" She begun to speak before she stopped as he looked at his hand, it was unscathed, as if it was never on fire in the first place.
"But I definetly-" Asia muttered before she felt a hand on her head, she looked up to see Jinrang smiling at her.
"Don't worry, I'm fine." He assured her, before taking his seat next to Akeno, who glanced at his hand as well, just to make sure he was really okay.
The silver-haired maid narrowed her eyes at his hand, she would report this to her master after this meeting.
Riser was about to open his mouth to speak again, but he was interrupted. "That's enough, since I'm here on behalf of the current Lucifer, I won't hold back one iota if you don't stop this childish squabble this instant." Grayfia spoke while frowning.
"Hmph, if it's coming from the 'Ultimate Queen' even I'm intimidated." He spoke, but his eyes were still on Jinrang, his interest was piqued by this tall muscular man.
"Lord Sirzechs expected this outcome, so he assigned me a last resort, should things break down."
"Last resort? What do you mean Grayfia?" Rias questioned the maid.
"If you insist on following your wishes, then you may settle this in a rating game with Lord Riser."
Issei's eyes narrowed at those words, "A rating game?" He questioned.
"It's a chess-like game noble devils compete in, where they make the servants fight against one another." Kiba explained it to him.
"Only mature devils have ever been able to take part in a Rating Game." Akeno turned back to explain.
"Then we're at an incredible disadvantage." A rare moment of cleverness from Issei.
"That's not the only disadvantage." Koneko chimed in.
"Just to be sure, are these all your servants?" Riser questioned Rias.
"Aside from Jinrang, these are all of them, so what if they are?" Rias asked back crossing her arms.
Riser laughed at her before snapping his finger,
And once more the Phoenix magic circle appeared.
Out came 14 different ladies.
"I have 15 pieces, in other words full set." Riser spoke, while his servants stood behind him, all wearing that arrogant smirk.
"15 pieces, and all of them are pretty girls?!" Issei shouted.
Jinrang looked at him with disapproval once and that was what it took to shut him up.
But he still sniffled.
"What is that all about?" Riser questioned.
Rias sighed before explaining. "His dream is to have a harem."
Riser smirked, "Oh, I see. Yubelluna." He called out and a purple-haired lady came from behind, "Yes, Lord Riser." She answered with a smile before they started a whole make-out session without a shame.
Rias recoiled in disgust.
"What-"Issei started. "The fuck?" Jinrang finished.
"You'll never be able to do this for as long as you live." Riser made direct eye contact with Issei as he fondled his… devil toy.
'This… guy, really has no shame.' Jinrang averted his eyes from such… disgusting show of superiority.
"You… disgusting chicken!" Issei shouted as he summoned his sacred gear.
Issei charged at Riser, while his sacred gear boosted his abilities.
"Mira." Riser calmly called out as a blue-haired girl dashed out from behind the others and stood in front of Issei.
'I should probably help…' Jinrang thought as he got up, no one noticed his movement except Grayfia.
The blue-haired girl with a stick was moving towards Issei's stomach, but Jinrang shielded him quickly enough.
Now, because of the height difference between Issei and Jinrang, the attack hit low, right between his legs to be exact.
Kiba winced, Issei recoiled, hell even Riser sucked in a breath of air.
They all felt phantom pain, or something similar.
Even some of the girls from Riser's peerage covered their mouthes in shock.
And the reason for that was because the stick shattered, the weapon that struck Jinrang's private parts shattered from impact.
Meanwhile Jinrang stood there, hands in his pockets, the attack didn't even faze him.
"Jinrang!" Akeno shouted worriedly while rushing towards his side.
"Don't worry, I'm good." He spoke.
Jinrang sighed as he leaned down, the girl unconsciously took a step back.
"I don't really want to rip your head off, so how about you scurry back, before I change my mind." He spoke calmly.
And the girl indeed retreated while looking at him cautiously.
"Grayfia… was it? Can we somehow hurry up and finish this meeting? We might have a hazard on our hands if we don't." Jinrang explained.
"Ha! Color me impressed, not even I can walk of such a hit, a shame that you aren't a part of my beloved Rias' peerage." Genuine praise came from Riser, from man to man.
"We'll settle this in a rating game." Rias declared.
"I look forward to it my beloved Rias, I'll see you in 14 days." (canon is 10, but let's say it's 14 because… I said so.)
Riser laughed once more, before he and his peerage disappeared in flame, Grayfia bowed and left as well.
"Finally, some peace and quiet." Jinrang sighed as he sat back down on the sofa.
"Bro… are you sure you're okay? You took a direct hit right in the… the…" Issei couldn't even finish the sentence, as he imagined the pain.
"The private parts." Koneko finished for him.
Jinrang waved his hand, "I'm okay, thanks for worrying, but there really is no reason to."
Suddenly, Jinrang felt a hand touch him.
"…What exactly… are you doing?" Jinrang questioned Akeno who was looking at him with a smile.
"Just making sure." Akeno said before taking her hand off.
"Get a room you two." Rias spoke, while Akeno giggled, "What? It's normal to make sure your lover is okay isn't it?"
"Wow! Jinrang and Akeno are lovers?" Asia questioned from behind.
"They sure are." Issei answered for her, while smiling, happy for his friend.
"Yeah, we got together yesterday." Jinrang said while he and Akeno were looking at each other while smiling.
"Seriously, get a room." Rias repeated.
