Chapter 7 - The Date.

(Some slice of life, and it's my first time writing this type of stuff, do go easy on me.)

It was saturday, the sun was shining, the weather was perfect absolutely nothing could go wrong, or at least that's what Jinrang thought.

However, as the giant boy stood in front of his wardrobe, he came to a terrible realization.

'I need to buy new clothes.'

He didn't notice it at first, but some of his shirts had holes, some pants were getting a bit too tight, pretty mundane stuff. (This omnipotent power is what's called plot convenience.)

"I'm in deep trouble." He muttered to himself.

He looked carefully and organized his clothes, more than half had to be discarded, he was left with a couple of black and white T-shirts, and two pairs of black pants.

"I should probably go shopping for clothes, a lot of them will probably tear in fights, so I'll probably need a lot."

He was planning to laze around all day, but it looks like today just wasn't it.

He then remembered Akeno's words about hanging out, and decided to call her admittedly he was quite nervous.

Despite his overwhelming strength, he was still a teenage boy.

Akeno answered, "Hello, good morning."

He greeted back, "Hello Akeno, I'm planning to go shopping today and I was wondering if you wanted to accompany me."

"Sure, I'll meet you at the mall." She agreed a bit too quickly.

Jinrang let out a sigh of relief.

"Alright, I'll be there soon."

He put on his black white t-shirt and pants, before going out he looked at himself in the mirror.

He nodded to himself and went out.

Akeno arrived at the mall and started looking around to find Jinrang. Despite the large amount of people gathered here, it didn't take her much time to find him as he stood out like a sore thumb.

He was also looking around trying to find her.

Akeno giggled to herself and approached him from behind, as she tapped his shoulder he turned around and she noted that his eyes widened just a tiny bit, before going back to their usual state.

"Hey, looking for me?" She questioned still smiling.

He didn't say anything for a moment, still taking in her current outfit.

She was wearing a colorful dress, her hair wasn't tied it went down her back, and the most mesmerizing things were her eyes and smile.

He quickly snapped out of it, "Apologies, it's just that you look… different I guess."

"Is it a good kind of different?"

Jinrang sighed as he scratched his head, "…Yes, you look much more beautiful like this."

Her eyes widened slightly, as a red tint grew on her cheeks. She certainly wasn't expecting that response, she thought he'd be flustered or stuttering. He liked telling the truth, that much she understood as she heard from Kiba he didn't like lying, and by extension he didn't like liars either.

'What a charming man you are.' She thought as he gazed at his face.

"Thank you, you look dashing as well, those simple clothes really suit you somehow." Akeno noted.

Akeno interlocked her arm with his, and noticed just how much bigger his arms were, "Well let's go now, what's the plan?"

Jinrang was surprised by her action just now, but brushed it off.

"Let's eat something first, I'm famished." He spoke and as if agreeing, his stomach let out a loud noise.

"What do you have in mind?" Akeno questioned, curious as to what his preferred food would be.

"I was thinking about burgers, it has been a while since I've had any. What about you?"

She thought about it for a bit, "Sure, burgers it is."

The two walked around the mall before reaching the restaurant, luckily there was a free table so they didn't have to wait for a seat.

The waitress soon arrived, "Hello, may I take your order?"

"Hi, I'd like to order 4 beef burgers, large fries, and 2 large cans of cola."

Akeno assumed that he probably ate a lot, but this was just too much.

'Can he really finish it all?' She thought.

The waitress was similarly dumbfounded, but quickly wrote down the order.

"What about you miss?"

"I'll have a beef burgers, small fries and a bottle of water please."

The waitress bowed and left, leaving the two on their own.

"Jinrang, can you really eat that much?" Akeno asked curiously.

"Yeah, I have to eat a lot to maintain my physique, and I also really love burgers." He explained.

'…This will be troublesome.' Akeno's smile froze on her face.

"Oh right, How is the new girl Asia settling in?"

"Quite well, Issei's parents quickly accepted her in the family and are taking great care of her, she will be in Kuoh academy on monday."

"Alright, good for her."

The food came quickly, as the two were about to dig in, Jinrang noticed something on the napkin.

Akeno also noticed, but glanced at the bold girl.

'It's probably the waitress's number.' He looked at the girl in question, she wasn't looking at him so he quickly ripped the napkin apart.

"Ignore that." He said before shifting all his focus onto the food in front of him.

A burgers has never looked more delicious in his eyes.

Soon, the two finished their meal Jinrang paid for the bill.

"Akeno, the true purpose of this trip was to buy some new clothes, and I might need your help in picking them out."

"Sure! With pleasure."

"I assume you… like shopping for clothes?"

"What kind of a girl doesn't?"

"Fair point."

The two walked around looking for some clothes, it was pretty hard to find something Jinrang's size, but they succeeded.

"How about this?" Akeno said as she handed Jinrang a black coat along with a black button-up shirt.

Aside from this outfit, he already bought some jeans and regular T-shirts, mostly black and white, but Akeno managed to convince him to buy one that was pink in color. (Vegeta's pink shirt, cause that thing is really cool.)

Jinrang put it on quickly and came out of the dressing room.

Akeno stared absentmindedly, but quickly regained her bearings.

"Wow! It really looks good on you, I think we should take it."

Jinrang looked at himself in the mirror, it was quite the change from his usual outfits, but he liked it.

"Alright, we'll take this and I'll take a white shirt as well, to mix it up a bit."

"I see, that's a good idea." Akeno nodded.

Completing the payment the two walked out of the mall.

"Do you want to go to the amusement park? It's not far from here" Akeno suggested, she wanted to spend a bit more time with him.

"The amusement park? Sure, I was planning on going there. Now's a pretty good time, especially since I'm with you." Jinrang looked towards Akeno and smiled gently.

That smile managed to make Akeno's heart flutter, and since he almost never smiled it was that much more impactful.

'Oh my.' She thought, while a blush crept up her cheeks once more.

The two went to the park, rode some roller coasters, all in all it was a fun day for Akeno.

Admittedly, Jinrang wasn't really feeling the roller coasters, but Akeno's laughter and positive energy influenced him, he too had quite a lot of fun.

"Today was fun, I really enjoyed our time together." Akeno said to him.

"Me too… Hey Akeno?" Jinrang called out to her, she stopped and turned to look at him.

"Can we… do this again?" He asked nervously, for the first time today, Jinrang was the one not meeting Akeno's gaze.

Akeno's eyes widened and she smiled.

"Gladly." Saying that she closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around him.

Jinrang was stunned once again, but he unconsciously hugged her back.

"See you later, Jinrang." She said before kissing him on the cheek.

After saying that, she teleported using the Gremory's magic circle.

Jinrang stood there, bewildered, as he touched his cheek.

He smiled again, and went home.

Jinrang laid in bed, thinking about the date in his mind, Akeno was slowly turning into a person who was more than just a friend, and he didn't mind it at all.
