The maids turned, surprise flashing across their faces before they all bowed.
"Good day to you, young lord." They greeted in unison, their voices tinged with surprise.
"Do any of you know where Zarah might be?" Jorel demanded, a frown marring his face.
"I d-don't---" A young maid began, but a slight tug on her dress interrupted her.
"I saw her last in the Middle Heaven," another servant quickly answered.
Jorel offered no thanks, no word at all. He simply looked ahead and continued walking.
"You see... whenever he's like that," the servant who'd answered whispered to the younger girl.
"Just answer him."
"He doesn't take no for an answer. Even lie if you have to." They watched him go.
Jorel walked under the sun's warm beams, passing through the Inner Heaven gate and into the Middle Heaven of the Ujochi estate. He continued until he reached its approximate center.
Where could she be?
He looked around, trying to discern her location.
But how dare she?
