Chapter 30 - So, Will You Kneel and Beg for Mercy, or Receive the Brand of Bad Taste on Your Head?! (Bonus chapter)

"My name..."

Hearing Dylan's question, the old man paused, then looked up at the sky as if lost in some memory. After a long moment, he lowered his head and chuckled softly.

"Let me introduce myself. I am Lancy John, the president of the European Gourmet Research Branch. Would you be interested in working with us? With the status and benefits of a six-star super chef."

"Elder Lancy? I'm sorry, but I don't like being controlled by others, so please forgive my refusal. Of course, I will visit if I have the opportunity."

"Aren't you going to hear my conditions first?"

Hearing Dylan's decisive refusal, Lancy John frowned and stared at his face for a long time, as if trying to see through him.

"No need. No matter the conditions, I will no longer join any faction."

Facing Lancy John's invitation, Dylan refused without even thinking. No matter how generous the benefits offered, he was unwilling to be controlled by others again.

"Alright, I respect your decision."

"However, I have a question about this dish that I can't quite understand. In such a short period, how did you remove the impurities from the mountain treasure soup?"

"If I remember correctly, shiitake mushrooms, yams, and burdock will continuously release a large amount of impurities if cooked together in a pot. Once there are impurities, the taste of the soup will be completely ruined."

"Even if you desperately try to strain it, it's impossible to finish straining in such a short time. So how exactly did you do it? How could you make the mountain treasure soup so clear in such a short time?"

The old man asked curiously, very interested in this technique. Despite his age, his attitude towards cooking remained sincere!

"I used this."

Hearing the question, Dylan smiled and took out a stack of A3 paper. At the same time, he folded a paper bowl in front of Lancy John, saying as he folded:

"Soup can also boil in a paper bowl, and it has absorptive properties. It can absorb the impurities from the ingredients during the cooking process. As long as you continuously filter it repeatedly, you can get a pot of incredibly clear mountain treasure broth!"

"So that's how it is! That's how you removed the impurities and made the perfect clear soup! What an incredible idea, to actually think of using paper..."

Hearing Dylan's explanation, Lancy John suddenly understood and couldn't help but admire his wisdom for coming up with such a method!

"With paper, no matter how tiny the impurities are, it can help us absorb them. This can also be applied to other soups."

Dylan let out a long breath, his expression somewhat excited. It had been a long time since he had exchanged culinary insights with a chef of the same level.

This feeling was truly... long lost!

"So, old sir, whose dish do you think is better? It's time to determine the winner."

"This goes without saying, of course it's you..."

As he spoke, Dylan suddenly turned his head and looked at Jessie, who was tiptoeing not far away, seemingly trying to sneak away. Suddenly, he leaped forward and kicked him in the chest.

In an instant, Jessie flew backward.

"You still want to sneak away at this point? Or do you think you can go back on your word and break the agreement? I hope you don't do such a stupid thing, after all, I have many ways to make you keep your promise."

Stepping towards the fallen Jessie, Dylan said with a cold gaze. So far, no one had dared to break an agreement with someone from the dark culinary world!

"Just because of a few sea bream, do you want to become enemies with me?!"

Jessie looked at Dylan, who was approaching step by step, with resentment on his face, somewhat unable to understand why someone would offend a super-grade chef for just two sea bream!

"What are you? Do I need to care about becoming enemies with you?"

Dylan tilted his head, feigning confusion, then flicked the kitchen knife in his hand. The tip of the knife 'whooshed' past Jessie's hair and slammed into the ground.

A strand of black hair fell to the ground.

"This is a street match that wasn't reported to the Food Tribunal! The results of such a match are not recognized by the Food Tribunal! Don't mess around!"

Feeling the coldness beside his ear, Jessie swallowed his saliva, a sense of fear welling up in his heart, but he still craned his neck and spoke.

The reason was simple: the Food Tribunal would never recognize such a street match. That would be equivalent to challenging their authority. As long as he could hold out now, who could make him fulfill the bet?!

Tulben had already returned to the shop to gather people. Just hold on a little longer, just a little longer! When he comes back with people, maybe they can even beat this kid up to vent his anger!

Even if he is skilled in fighting, he can't possibly deal with more than a dozen people alone, right? Two fists can't beat four hands!

"Hahaha, how unsightly!"

"Can you even easily break your own promises? I originally thought your cooking was just inferior to your master's, but I didn't expect your character to be even more despicable."

Hearing Jessie's shameless words, Dylan couldn't help but laugh. Alice Nakiri, who had just recovered from the illusion, happened to hear everything and couldn't help but mock him from the side.

"It's none of your business how I act, you two brats! Now get your foot off me, and our debt is cleared, otherwise I'll call the police!"

Jessie spoke with a fierce expression but a weak heart, trying to scare the two to buy time. At the same time, the audience gradually recovered from the illusion of Dylan's cooking and happened to hear their conversation, their faces showing strange expressions.

They couldn't have heard wrong, could they? A dignified super-grade chef actually wanted to go back on his word!

"Who said it wasn't reported? Since I am here, then this match is valid! I am the person sent by the Food Tribunal to review the fairness of this Food War!"

"From the start to the end of the competition, everything was normal on the field, and no cheating occurred. Therefore, this Food War is valid."

Just as a fierce look flashed in Dylan's eyes, preparing to teach Jessie a lesson, Lancy John suddenly stood up, his expression serious.

As a high-level member of the Gourmet Research Society, he naturally had people who could represent the Food Tribunal and could even become the person in charge of the Food War.

He could just report it later and stamp it himself.

"Where did you suddenly come from? You say you're from the Food Tribunal, so you are the Food Tribunal?!"

Jessie glared, his voice filled with unspeakable resentment and some unease, constantly blaming Tulben in his heart for being too slow. If this continued, he might even get beaten up by Dylan!

"Stop! Let go of our head chef!"

Suddenly, a familiar voice came over, and Jessie, as if finding his backbone, showed a look of ecstasy on his face.

"Hurry, get this guy's foot off me!"

"What a nuisance."

Looking at the menacing Tulben and his group, the surrounding onlookers scattered like birds and beasts, but Elder Lancy remained firmly standing beside him.

"Let's deal with them together. You're young, the eight on the left are yours to hold off. I'll take care of the three on the right. Little girl, step back, this is not something you should be involved in."

"Can you? Don't..."

Before Dylan could finish speaking, he saw the seemingly frail old man suddenly exert force, and then his figure changed, actually swelling up. The clothes on his body, due to the muscles, tore open in several places, revealing the incredibly strong muscles underneath.

Seeing this scene, Dylan felt a little relieved, then turned his gaze to the several burly men charging towards him, without the slightest fear on his face.

He simply raised his hand slightly, and surging internal force flowed within him. Facing the enemy's attacks, he always just casually raised his hand to counter.

What was surprising was that although Dylan's speed didn't seem fast, it was impossible for people to dodge. His movements looked light, but their power was enormous.

In less than a minute, all eight people had collapsed on the ground, letting out painful wails. Dylan didn't even pant, turning his head to look at Elder Lancy.

He saw that Lancy John had already dealt with two opponents, and the remaining one was only passively taking a beating, finally being struck to the ground with a chop of the hand. Then, he gave Dylan a thumbs-up, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

Seeing him look over, Dylan immediately nodded in acknowledgment, then came to Jessie, squatted down with a kind smile, and said:

"So, are you going to kneel down and beg for mercy, or have the 'inedible' mark branded on your forehead?!"
