Chapter 18 - Reclaiming My True Name

The two of them traveled for seven days, and only late one night did they return to Saint Soul Village.

The next day, after Tang Hao finished his meal, he suddenly asked, "Xiao San, where did you go this morning?"

Upon hearing the unlucky name, Xiao Yan couldn't help but feel uncomfortable all over.

"I go out for a run every day, just to exercise my body," Xiao Yan answered.

"Mm." Tang Hao nodded slightly, thinking that his son's great strength might be related to the physical training he had done since childhood.

Tang Hao continued, "Today, you pack your things. Tomorrow, Old Jack will take you to Nottingham City."

"To Nottingham City?" Xiao Yan asked in confusion.

What was wrong with this old dog, Tang Hao? Why was he suddenly making him leave?

Tang Hao glanced at Xiao Yan: "Didn't you want to learn the abilities of a Soul Master? Old Jack will take you to the Nottingham City Junior Soul Master Academy to be a work-study student. There, you will learn what you want to learn."

"Oh." Xiao Yan nodded slightly.

Since Tang Hao had decided for him to go, then he would go.

After the battle with the Black Hell Bear, he was now even more curious about his own strength, and he was eager to see what the power of Soul Masters at different levels looked like.

Tang Hao added, "The forging method I taught you will allow you to find any blacksmith shop in the city and work as an apprentice. The tuition and food should be enough."

Xiao Yan nodded. Over the years, he had saved some money, so he could go find a blacksmith shop and craft some throwing weapons.

Before Xiao Yan could get excited, Tang Hao continued, "There's a condition for you to go to the Nottingham Junior Soul Master Academy. You can only go if you agree to my terms."

"What condition?" Xiao Yan quickly asked.

It seemed that Tang Hao wouldn't let him go so easily.

Tang Hao said, "First, release your Blue Silver Emperor martial soul and your soul ring, let me see."

Xiao Yan ran his internal energy, and a small blue-golden grass appeared in the center of his palm. A black ring slowly rose from the ground and spun around him.

Originally, Tang Hao had been watching the Blue Silver Emperor martial soul, lost in thought, but when he saw the black light flashing, he was immediately shocked: "Black! Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring!"

Typically, Soul Masters, upon getting their first soul ring, acquire one of around a hundred years in age, which is already the physical limit of what their body can bear. This is the ideal configuration for a soul ring. But his son's first soul ring was ten thousand years old.

Xiao Yan stood still, silent. Was this soul ring really good?

Although the skills created by the soul ring weren't bad, the internal energy consumption was even greater than the Six Pulse Sword.

It was like getting a luxury car, but with no gas to start it up—useless, utterly useless.

After thinking for a long time, Tang Hao still couldn't figure it out. He asked, "How could your first soul ring be ten thousand years old?"

Xiao Yan scratched his head. "I don't know either. After the Blue Silver King awakened my Blue Silver Emperor martial soul, this black thing just appeared."

Tang Hao sighed helplessly. What could he expect from a kid? How could he possibly know anything?

"Put it away. Since your first soul ring is ten thousand years old, your soul power must be close to level 20. If the teacher takes you to hunt for soul rings, you can choose another one."

After saying this, Tang Hao suddenly became serious.

"I need you to promise me something. No matter how you train your soul power in the future, never add a soul ring to your hammer martial soul. Don't let anyone see it, and don't let anyone know you have twin martial souls. As for your Blue Silver Emperor martial soul, just keep it to yourself and call it Blue Silver Grass to the outside world. Can you do that?"

Xiao Yan felt that his earlier assumptions seemed to have some flaws, but he couldn't quite figure out the exact problem.

After waiting a few moments, when Tang Hao didn't get an answer, he asked, "What's the matter? Can't you do such a small thing?"

Xiao Yan shook his head. "No, I just feel like these two conditions are about hiding something from myself, but I'm not hiding it well enough."

Tang Hao was a little surprised at his son's cleverness: "What else do you want to hide?"

Xiao Yan rubbed his cheek and said, "Since my appearance changed after entering that Strange Forest, and since the martial soul and everything else is hidden, why not change my name too? Martial souls come from bloodline inheritance, so this could also help confuse others."

Tang Hao thought for a moment. Only he and Old Jack knew Tang San, so changing the name didn't seem like a big deal.

Taking a big gulp of wheat wine, Tang Hao said, "What do you want to be called?"

Xiao Yan thought for a moment. "Our goal is to erase our traces, so how about the surname Xiao? There's a lot of fire in a blacksmith shop, and I want to give myself a name with the character 'Yan' for fire."

"Xiao Yan?" Tang Hao thought Xiao Yan made a lot of sense and nodded approvingly. "That name sounds good, but your martial soul certification is still Tang San. How you use this new name is up to you. However, you must remember the promise you made to me."

After that, Tang Hao went back inside to prepare for bed.

Once Tang Hao left, Xiao Yan could hardly contain his joy.

This was the first time he had been so happy since his transmigration!

He, Xiao Yan, had finally reclaimed his true name.

After washing the dishes, Xiao Yan walked out of the blacksmith shop, climbed up a small hill, casually used his Six Pulse Sword to kill two rabbits, cleaned them, and began roasting them.

Today, not only had he reclaimed his true name, but he was also going to the Soul Master Academy. It was definitely time to celebrate.

"Finally, I will get to know how strong Soul Masters really are, and what about those Soul Beasts and Soul Rings..."

Not having eaten much at home, Xiao Yan ate two roasted rabbits and lay back comfortably on the grass, gazing at the clear blue sky, lost in thought.

His internal energy had reached this level of cultivation, and future training was just a matter of time.

The Purple Extreme Magic Eyes were divided into four stages: Overview, Intricacy, Seed, and Vastness. After reaching the Intricacy stage, the cultivation speed slowed considerably.

His future training focus would be on modifying how the Purple Extreme Magic Eyes were cultivated and used.

After some practice, Xiao Yan felt that even if he modified the Purple Extreme Magic Eyes, there were still some problems.

Normally, eyes were used by simply opening them, but the Purple Extreme Magic Eyes required a special activation to use.

If a critical moment arrived and he couldn't activate them in time, it would be too late.

If he could turn the Purple Extreme Magic Eyes into an innate ability of his eyes, that would be another story entirely.

From initially modifying the Purple Extreme Magic Eyes to make his eyes glow purple, to now wanting to improve his eyes' innate ability, he felt that he would need at least ten years to fully master it.

However, the Mystic Heaven Body Refining Technique also needed to directly improve his physical qualities, and it might complement the enhancement of his eye powers.

In addition to modifying these two techniques, his Six Pulse Sword also needed further refinement.
