Chapter 33 - Chapter 33 Conner's Request

Because of the attacks from Eddie and the Popplio, all the Ariados surrounded them. "Popplio, Dazzling Gleam." Eddie continued to command.

"La la la~"

As the singing of the Popplio sounded, the air around several Ariados began to vibrate violently, and even water mist rose up. After a while, all the Ariados were knocked unconscious.

The Poison-type Ariados should be very resistant to Fairy-type moves like Dazzling Gleam, but the characteristic of the Popplio, Liquid Voice, changes the attribute of Dazzling Gleam to Water-type, so Ariados will be hit instantly.

After dealing with Ariados, Eddie quickly walked up to Conner and asked, "Conner, are you okay?"

"No...it's okay." Conner patted his butt and said unnaturally.

"That's good." Eddie breathed a sigh of relief. "Do you want to capture that Spinarak? Next time you capture a Pokémon, use your Pokémon to fight. You'll get hurt easily this way."

At this time, the small Spinarak had already quickly run to the front of its parent and was anxiously circling around several fainted Ariados.

"I... understand, thank you." Conner returned to his cold expression, but from the tone of his voice, it seemed that he was just not good at communicating with people.

Then he belatedly asked, "How do you know my name is Conner?"

Uh... Could it be that this guy didn't remember that I was his classmate? There were only a dozen or so students in the class.

"My name is Eddie, and I'm in the same class as you."

Hearing Eddie's words, Conner's face was filled with tears. He never expected that his embarrassing situation would be seen by the classmates he would be with day and night in the future.

He thought he just met a passerby and they would not know each other after they separated!

"Ah...Is that so!" Conner looked embarrassed. "I'm a little face-blind, so it's a little hard for me to recognize people."

"Oh, I see." Eddie looked as if he had suddenly realized something. It was unclear whether he was truly face-blind or just pretending to be. "By the way, I'm going home to eat. How about you?"

"I want to go home too." Conner said with his head down. In fact, he didn't want to go home, otherwise he wouldn't still be wandering outside.

Eddie nodded and then asked, "Did you manage to subdue that Spinarak?"

Conner looked at the Spinarak, who was about to cry because his family had fainted, and after thinking for a few seconds, he shook his head and said, "Forget it."

Upon hearing this, Eddie walked up to the Spinarak and the Ariados, took out a few Berries from his backpack, handed them over to the Spinarak, and said:

"Okay, Ariados and the others just fainted, they will wake up soon, don't worry.

I am really sorry for attacking you just now. I give you these Berries as an apology."

Sure enough, a few seconds after Eddie finished speaking, the Ariados woke up one after another. They accepted Eddie's apology and left contentedly with the Berries and Spinarak.

Seeing that Eddie was actually communicating with Pokémon, Conner's eyes widened in surprise: "You can actually understand Pokémon's speech?"

Eddie scratched his head modestly and said, "I can understand a little bit."

Conner was overjoyed when he heard this. He suddenly grabbed Eddie's hand and said, "Can I ask you for a favor?"

"What help?" Eddie was stunned. Was it so sudden? We don't seem to know each other well! "Tell me, if it's not too much trouble, I can help."

"Can you come to my house after school this afternoon?" Conner requested.

It turned out that his grandfather left a will, but when his grandfather died, there was only a Luxray present, so his grandfather had to dictate the will to the Luxray.

Unfortunately, the Luxray cannot speak human language. Even if it remembered its grandfather's last words, it could not express them completely, so these words became a mystery.

Conner's parents didn't care about this will because they didn't have a good relationship with his grandfather, but Conner couldn't help but care because he was raised by his grandfather.

So Conner wanted to ask Eddie to help him find out the content of the last words from the Luxray.

After understanding the content of the commission, Eddie readily agreed: "So that's what you're doing? Of course, no problem. I'll go with you after school this afternoon!"

"Thank you so much!" Conner said excitedly.

After they parted, they went home to eat.

After school in the afternoon, the two went to Conner's home as agreed.

According to Conner, his grandfather was also a trainer. Because he was away on adventures all year round and had very few opportunities to be at home, he had a bad relationship with his son. He was not even able to be with his wife when she died unexpectedly.

It was also because of the sudden death of Conner's grandmother that the relationship between Conner's father and grandfather deteriorated rapidly, and finally a situation was formed where no one liked each other.

Not long after Conner's grandmother passed away, his grandfather retired from the job of trainer, and all the Pokémon around him left him, with only one Luxray still left at home.

The reason why his grandpa's Pokémon left was because Conner's father didn't want to raise them.

Because Luxray is the love Pokémon of Conner's grandpa and grandma, his father reluctantly agreed to let him stay at home. This is not the case with other Pokémon.

Conner's home is even farther from No. 4 Middle School than the Bluebird Orphanage. His family is well-off and lives in a large villa. Although it cannot be called luxurious, it is definitely the configuration of a wealthy family.

When the two arrived at Conner's home, his parents were not at home, and only the nanny came out to greet them.

"Come on, I'll take you to see the Luxray." As soon as he entered the house, Conner couldn't wait to pull Eddie to his backyard.

Conner's parents built a small house for the Luxray in the backyard, where the Luxray usually stays. Conner usually takes care of the Luxray's daily life.

"Luxray, I'm back!"

As Conner's voice fell, a shadow suddenly jumped out from a small house not far away and instantly knocked Conner to the ground.

The black shadow was exactly a Luxray. Its physique was not very strong, but its lines were very smooth, and you could tell at a glance that it had been well-trained.

The Luxray rubbed Conner's head affectionately with its cheek and licked his face from time to time, which made Conner laugh. Only then did Eddie feel that this was a normal, lively, and cheerful big boy.

"Hahaha~" Conner's happy laughter echoed in the spacious courtyard.

However, the nanny following behind them suddenly said, "Conner, his father doesn't like you doing this, it's very unruly!"

Conner's laughter suddenly stopped. He restrained the smile on his face, slowly sat up from the ground, patted the non-existent dust on his clothes, and said to the nanny without changing his expression:

"I see. I don't need your help here. Please go down."

The nanny didn't say anything else, just bowed and walked away.

But Conner's good mood completely disappeared after being interrupted by the nanny.

Eddie thought: No wonder Conner developed such a personality, the family atmosphere is a bit depressing!

After the nanny left, Conner said with a slightly frustrated look, "My dad doesn't like me being overly intimate with Pokémon."

Perhaps because he had a grudge against his grandfather, Conner's father did not even allow him to pursue a career related to trainers. Later, it was his mother who tried her best to persuade his father, and only then did he agree to let him study the Pokémon Training Major.

In order to rebel against his father, Conner secretly ran away from home before school started, planning to travel alone. Unfortunately, he was caught and beaten before he left Coumarine City.

Perhaps my father felt that if he took up the same profession as his grandfather, he would become as irresponsible as his grandfather in the future.

However, in Conner's opinion, his father was the irresponsible one. Because he was busy with work, he left him to be raised by his grandfather when he was just born. It was not until his grandfather got too old and could no longer take care of him that his father thought of bringing the grandfather and grandson back to his side.

Eddie really didn't know how to comment on their family affairs, so he could only smile awkwardly.

Of course, Conner was just complaining casually, and he didn't expect Eddie to enlighten him. After sorting out his emotions, he said to Luxray:

"Luxray, this is my classmate Eddie. He can understand Pokémon's speech. You can tell him grandpa's last words, and then he can tell them to me."

Upon hearing this, the Luxray looked at Eddie in surprise, then nodded at Eddie.

This Luxray had a very good memory and soon told Eddie every word of Conner's grandpa's last words.

It turns out that Conner's father originally hoped that Conner's grandpa would release all his Pokémon back into the wild, but if the Pokémon raised by humans were returned to nature, they would definitely suffer a lot, so Conner's grandpa couldn't bear it.

But in order not to upset his son, Conner's grandpa finally told a lie.

He secretly left his Pokémon with an old friend and transferred a sum of living expenses to his old friend every month, and then told his son that the Pokémon had been sent away.

Who knew that his grandfather would suddenly die of a heart attack, and there was no one at home when it happened, so he had to tell the Luxray about it.

His grandpa hoped that after he was gone, Conner could take care of his old friend on his behalf. He left a card for Conner with a sum of money in it, which would be used as living expenses for his old friend.

The card was secretly hiding in the Luxray doll in Conner's room.

After listening to Eddie's retelling, Conner quickly ran to his room, found the Luxray doll, rummaged around with it and actually took out a savings card.

This card is bound to Conner's identity. After he asked Luxray for the password, he checked it in the online bank and found that there was a full 80 million PokéDollars in it.

The moment Eddie heard this number, his eyes looked like this?

Damn rich people! Just inheriting a legacy is more than what he would earn by working hard to farm for several years.

The card also had the contact information of Conner's grandpa's old friend, so Conner called him immediately.

The person who answered the phone was not Conner's grandpa's old friend, but the old friend's wife. After learning about Conner's identity, she asked Conner to take his grandfather's Pokémon away without saying a word!

It turned out that after Conner's grandpa passed away, no one had given living expenses to that place, so Conner's grandpa's old friend had to spend their own money to raise those Pokémon.

But raising Pokémon costs money, and the old friend's family is not as wealthy as Conner's, so gradually, his wife began to become dissatisfied.

Later, after learning that his grandpa had passed away, the old friend's wife began to be completely unwilling to keep those Pokémon anymore. Knowing some of the situation in Conner's family, she felt that his grandpa's death meant that no one would give them money anymore.

In the past, she could earn a little from the food allowance given by Conner's grandpa, but now not only does she earn nothing, she even has to pay out of her own pocket. Who would want that?

Hearing the curses from the other party, Conner wanted to say that he could send living expenses, but when he thought about the other party's attitude, he felt that the other party might not be able to take good care of his grandfather's Pokémon, so he had to say:

"I understand the situation. Give me another two days and I will pick them up as soon as possible and pay off the fees I owe you."

After hearing what Conner said, the other party's attitude finally improved. He stopped swearing and even praised Conner as a sensible and good child.

After hanging up the phone, Conner said to Eddie: "Thank you, Eddie, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be able to fulfill my grandfather's last wish.

Oh, right..."

At this moment, he suddenly thought of something and then rummaged through the cabinets in the room. After a while, he came over holding a box.

"This is for you."

"What's this?"

Eddie opened the box puzzled and saw ten colorful and exquisite Poké Balls neatly laid out inside, namely, Fast Ball, Friend Ball, Heal Ball, Heavy Ball, Lure Ball, Love Ball, Moon Ball, Dive Ball, Dusk Ball, and Quick Ball.

"These Poké Balls are what I collected in the past. They are not valuable. Just consider them as my thank-you gift to you." Conner saw Eddie's surprise and explained.

"Okay, then I won't be polite." Eddie did not refuse and accepted the other party's thanks.

These Poké Balls are different from the ordinary Poké Balls sold in stores. They are handmade Poké Balls. Because they are time-consuming to make and have special effects, they are much more expensive than ordinary Poké Balls.

But it's not too expensive and is within Eddie's acceptable range.

Like the space backpacks of Lysandre and Diantha before, because they were too valuable, Eddie mailed them back to them.

Eddie had already helped Conner. Seeing that it was getting late, he planned to go home. At this time, he suddenly heard voices outside.

"It seems like my parents are back..."

Sure enough, after a while, the nanny came to inform Conner that his father and his mother had returned and asked him to go downstairs.
