Chapter 15 - The Birth of Growlithe

[Bewear's mood increased, Happiness Value +140, received Bewear's gift: "Swords Dance" TM.]

Under the moonlight, Carver sat next to Bewear, and suddenly, a message appeared before his eyes.

He was slightly stunned, but soon understood—Pain Split had worked.

However, compared to how Bewear felt at that moment, that move seemed trivial.

Wiping away its tears, Bewear quickly perked up.

Life had to go on. It was no longer alone; it still had its little master, the breeding house, and its new companions!

"Guu!"

Carver smiled and said, "Yeah, let's work hard together tomorrow!"

After comforting Bewear, Carver suggested it get some proper rest. He then returned to his bedroom to take a closer look at the move he had just received from Bewear.

[Swords Dance (TM): A fierce battle dance that dramatically increases the user's attack power. Usable 9999/9999 times.]

"Swords Dance, huh?" Carver was a bit surprised.

Compared to Sleep Powder and Baby-Doll Eyes, this was an incredibly rare move.

In battles, Swords Dance could provide an enormous power boost. If used successfully even once, a slightly weaker Pokémon might be able to turn the tide of battle.

If it were used multiple times, it might even be capable of sweeping through an entire team single-handedly.

More importantly, he could now raise a Growlithe that knows Swords Dance!

Currently, Growlithe had already learned Baby-Doll Eyes, Tackle, and Sleep Powder through prenatal training, and there were still two slots left.

Without hesitation, Carver used his ability on the Growlithe egg in front of him.

Swords Dance—added!

The next second, the temperature of the eggshell began to rise rapidly.

Crack!

It seemed the Pokémon inside couldn't contain its power, and a fissure appeared on the egg adorned with crimson patterns.

Crack... crack... crack...

The crack spread quickly.

Under Carver's astonished gaze, a small dog head poked out from the shell, still wearing a bit of eggshell on its head.

It was a puppy Pokémon with a wet nose, bright black eyes, and a coat of orange fur.

Growlithe had hatched!

[Description: Woof woof woof! — Growlithe]

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

Growlithe leaped out of the egg, sat on the floor, barked happily, and wagged its tail at Carver.

What an adorable Pokémon…

Carver grinned and said, "Hello, Growlithe. I'm Carver."

"Woof!"

Since it had just hatched, Growlithe was still very tiny. It would take some time for it to grow to its normal size.

Right now, Carver could lift it with one hand.

But instead of doing that, he went to the kitchen and fetched some Moomoo Milk, pouring it into a bowl and placing it in front of Growlithe.

"Go ahead, drink up. The more you drink, the faster you'll grow."

Growlithe sniffed it, then happily started drinking.

Moomoo Milk is produced by a Pokémon called Miltank. It's highly nutritious and is beneficial for both humans and Pokémon. Those who drink it from a young age grow strong and healthy.

It's said that there's also a rare type of goat milk produced by a Pokémon called Gogoat, but Carver hadn't seen it sold in town.

Growlithe quickly finished its milk. Breaking out of its egg had used up some of its energy, and now it yawned, looking a bit sleepy.

Growlithe looked up at Carver with its watery eyes.

Carver was browsing through the list of moves Growlithe currently knew. This gave him an idea: the breeding house could potentially launch a new service.

That would be Egg Incubation and Training!

Trainers could bring their Pokémon to the breeding house for daycare, allowing them to spend time together and produce eggs. Then, Carver could train the Pokémon inside the egg, helping it learn moves it wouldn't normally have access to.

"Hmm, this could definitely become the breeding house's signature service," Carver murmured.

Beside him, Growlithe barked again, seemingly frustrated that Carver wasn't paying attention.

Snapping back to reality, Carver scooped up Growlithe and placed it on the bed.

"If you're tired, get some good rest here."

It's said that sleeping with your Pokémon can help deepen the bond.

Carver's bed was a single bed. Though not large, it was more than enough for him and Growlithe.

Little Growlithe curled up beside Carver, blinking its eyes at him before snuggling close and falling into a peaceful sleep.

Meanwhile, Carver reviewed the list of moves Growlithe currently knew:

Tackle, Sleep Powder, Baby-Doll Eyes, Swords Dance, Leer, Ember, Morning Sun.

The first four were the ones he had taught it through prenatal training, while Leer and Ember were innate moves.

As for Morning Sun… it appeared to be a hereditary move.

For Growlithe, that was a fantastic skill, as it greatly enhanced its survivability.

Baby-Doll Eyes plus Intimidate would lower the opponent's attack.

Sleep Powder would inflict status conditions.

Leer would reduce defense.

Swords Dance would boost its own attack.

Finally, it would use Tackle and Ember to deal damage.

This move set made Growlithe a formidable battler, capable of catching opponents off guard.

This Growlithe would be a truly unique Growlithe in the Pokémon world!

With both of its parents being Champion-level Arcanines…

The potential for this Growlithe was enormous. What heights it could reach was something Carver looked forward to seeing!

The next morning, Carver made a surprising discovery.

After sleeping together for one night, Growlithe's Friendship Level shot up from 99 to 100, the maximum!

Watching the little Growlithe wag its tail affectionately, Carver chuckled:

"No wonder the old tales say sharing a bed increases bonds. Turns out it's true!"

Carver couldn't help but think that if he caught more Pokémon in the future, maybe he could use this method to build stronger connections.

Like a cute Eevee, or a fluffy Alolan Vulpix…

Of course, if it were something like an Aggron, Tyranitar, or Gardevoir, maybe not.

The first two were simply too big; they wouldn't fit on his little bed.

As for Gardevoir…

Well, let's just say certain memories from his previous life made him feel a bit awkward about that idea.

Maybe not.
