Chapter 13 - Blood Moon

Sigewuf's POV:

****

The sheer force of anger pulling me was insane. How! How did she escape without a trace?

"We've searched everywhere for her. It seems she must have been killed by a beast or something else, because we can't find her body, and there's no trace of her anywhere," Beta Roxan said, but quickly shut his mouth when our eyes met. He had to drop his gaze to avoid a taste of my fury when I shot him a dark, potent stare.

Sometimes, he just spoke like one who couldn't think. If she were dead, we wouldn't know for sure because her body? The fury in my eyes was second to none, causing them to shut up.

"I'm going to Aston-Lakenheath. Prepare the car."

"But Alpha," Lex interjected, "What if she isn't there? What would you tell her parents?"

The furs on my hand appeared, nails with thick, sharp layers reappeared. Instinctively, I turned to Lex, hitting him with the back of my hand. He fell at the far corner of the room. The shock in his eyes, mixed with fear, sent waves of excitement through my veins.

"Learn your place, Lex," I growled, "Next time, do not question my actions."

Bowing his head immediately, with a wave of my hand, I dismissed Beta Roxan and Lex.

The visit to Aston-Lakenheath wasn't going to be for so much talk. Large veins appeared on my arm; it was for answers. Someone must know where she was. It was almost a week since she ran away.

I had little time left. Whatever had to be done must be done before the next blood moon, which was three weeks ahead.

"We're ready to leave," Beta Roxan was using the mind-link to inform me.

"I'll be going alone. Stay back and watch over the pack." I severed the mind link without waiting for an answer.

Throwing on a black training jacket over the black shirt, I headed out.

Moving the car, as it accelerated through, stepping on the gear, I headed towards the western border of Aston-Lakenheath, bringing the car to a stop in front of the cabin with heavy wooden doors.

The silence of the night was penetrated by the sound of crickets screeching and the owl hooting.

Moving towards the cabin, I could hear its heartbeat pulsating within the door. Pushing the door open, the darkness was impenetrably thick, almost making my skin coil, but I knew it could hear me.

"Hello baby," my voice, although almost a whisper, filled the stillness of the room.

I could feel the floor underneath shake with intensity under its weight as it made to turn around. Chains clicked against its legs as it stood, opening its eyes to reveal the golden yellow eyes, cold and still, like an ancient jewel.

I held the bedsheet Camille had sat on in the room I had asked her to stay in. Find her!

Turning around, I headed back towards the direction of Darkstar pack.

If Beta Lex couldn't get the pack warriors to find her, the beast would. A menacing smile appeared on my lips.

The drive was almost an hour when I arrived at the Loeka mansion. Moving straight to Alpha Loeka's study,

"We meet again," Alpha Loeka said, rising to his feet, as our hands met only briefly.

"Thank you, Loeka," I said. The last time I had been here was to take her with me. Now I was here to find out if they knew someone she must have run to.

"Camille's missing," I announced, feeling the heat in Alpha Loeka's face rise up.

He dropped on his chair, totally unfazed by what I had said "Wh...what do you mean by missing?" Alpha laughed, the kind that mocked or tried to cover something one might know but wouldn't want to share.

"Well enough, I think that's your concern now. She's your mate" he shrugged

The man was a prime callous power-hungry Alpha but I had expected something else.

He clearly did not care if she lived or died. To him, she was as good as dead.

I looked at him with a raised brow, my lips twitched a bit

"Seems like you've got a lot going on, Alpha Loeka," I said, crossing my legs over each other, clearly changing the subject.

There was no need wasting energy on it when he had nothing to say about it. Atleast I thought so, until I noticed a change in his demeanor which did not pass my scrutinizing gaze.

"Yes. We've had to station more pack control officers and increase training hours," he said half-heartedly.

"Having trouble with intruders?" I asked, my tone flat

"Ehmm.. N..No. nothing like that. Just being on the lookout"

That was a tick off for me. He was hiding something. Pack patrols were only strengthened if there was an intruder or danger

Mmhm… "Would any of these, in any way, be because of Camille?"

I saw a muscle flinch in his face before it disappeared. "Camille?" He scoffed, "Why would that be?"

My pulse was racing, blood flowing with a speed that wanted me to tear him apart. But before I could react, the door of the study opened up. An eerily younger version of a proud Alpha Loeka stepped in.

"Wait outside," Alpha Loeka ordered.

But he stood a little longer, our eyes meeting. Then I got the signal, he had come in to see me.

He bowed and walked away. My left brow rose and fell admiringly – someone with something important to tell me.

Returning my attention back to Alpha Loeka,

"I think you can help me with that, now, can't you?" I said.

"Camille isn't here, and if you've lost her, I think it's your duty to find her. Not mine or this pack either!" His face was straight, still, and unreadable.

"I'll see you around," I said, already halfway through the door.

Outside, the cold air brushed against my face as I stood by the car, a shadow making its way forward, until a form, slender but built with a tacky air to him, stood in front of me.

"I believe I have information you seem to want badly," was the first thing he said.

I pursed my lips, a smile crooked my face. He didn't say his name, just his classic, straight-to-the-point introduction.

"I see you're trying to make a stake here," I said, shooting him a **menacing, pointed** look.

"I'm a son of my father now, I can't help it," he retorted.

The apple and the tree, huh, I thought.

"What's your hit?" I asked.

"Power. The kind you wield," he replied, his eyes hungry with untamed desires.

I laughed, but without mirth. His audacity was applaudable. I liked him.

"Kill. Kill the one you love most."

The lines on his jaw hardened; it would be difficult for him.

"Where is she?" I asked, glancing at him.

"North," his voice laced with disdain, "With a certain Alpha Vikron, and he's a devil in hindsight."

That name made a switch in my head go off.

Vikron? I clenched my fists till they turned white.

There was only one Vikron. The only one who was my rival. The one I thought was gone for eleven years. The one I had banished from the Rhaul mansion and from the pack!

The one threat to my power.

He really made a fast one, this time.

If he was back, which was obnoxious of him to have dared after I banished him, then there was going to be a bloodbath. The devil's son indeed.

Getting into the car, I felt my fury make my blood boil. If he was back, then he was back for revenge.

The beast needed to find Camille, and fast.
