93 AC – Moon of the Falcon
The Seed of the FutureAs the royal family prepares to depart Dragonstone for King's Landing, crucial decisions are made that will shape the next generation of Targaryens. Aegon, still young, already shows a precocious instinct for leadership and unity — trying to build a strong foundation away from the pressures of court and the shadows of the past.
Aegon Claims the PresentWith the king's departure drawing near, Aegon surprises the Small Council and his family with two direct requests:
That Gael Targaryen, his young aunt, remain with him on Dragonstone.
He argues that Gael, always shielded by Queen Alysanne, needs to grow "with the people, with the stone, and with the dragons" — free from the shadows of her mother's grief, who had already lost so many children.
"She must learn to be strong not only in heart, but in spirit. With me, she will be free to grow."
That the king personally write to the Lord Paramount of the North, requesting that Benjen Stark, younger brother of the current heir, come to Dragonstone.
Aegon has heard rumors that young Benjen possesses the gift of warging. He wants Benjen to grow up alongside him — "Dragon blood must know the winds of the wolf."
These requests shock part of the court, but Jaehaerys sees in them the early wisdom of his grandson — and agrees, though Alysanne hesitates.
Laena, Heart of FireLaena Velaryon approaches her first year of life. Her bond with Lunaryon is clear — at every cry of the dragon, Laena smiles as if she understands.
She grows under the watchful eyes of her mother Rhaenys and grandmother Jocelyn Baratheon, who silently compete over how to shape the young heiress.
The dragon already begins flying small circles around Dragonstone, guarding its rider-in-the-making.
The Two HammersAs a parting gift, Viserys gives Aegon two short hammers of darkened steel with red leather grips — symbols of balance and strength.
"One for justice. The other, for chaos — and you shall choose which to wield first."
Ryam Redwyne begins to structure the prince's training: combat, military strategy, the history of the realm, and the ethics of leadership. Aegon shows a natural talent — but also a boldness that worries Ryam.
Aegon plans to ask his mother, Jocelyn Baratheon, to bring his cousin Borros Baratheon to grow alongside him in Dragonstone as well, forging ties between Targaryen, Baratheon, Velaryon, and Stark — the four pillars of the future he begins to shape.
The Silent CouncilOn the eve of departure, Jaehaerys gathers his family and counselors. With a grave voice, he declares that Dragonstone shall be the realm of preparation for the future king — and that Gael and Benjen will join him there.
Alysanne protests on Gael's behalf, but Aegon gently takes her hand and says:
"She is your flower… but flowers need sun, stone… and wind to grow strong."
His words move even Baelon, who sees in his nephew the same determined fire that once burned in Aemon's eyes.
The future begins to take shape — carved in stone, forged in fire.
