Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: If It’s Onii-chan, Then It’s Okay

"Yuu brought a woman home?! An outsider?!"

Kasugano Sora felt like thunder had exploded in her brain when she finally emerged from her room and learned of this scandalous event.

It was unprecedented.

Sure, many girls had been to their home before—some even lived there for quite a while.

But those were all girls who'd once been under the orphanage's care, or who still considered it their home.

And even though Yuu had a lot of "sisters," Sora had never truly seen them as her rivals.

Her one and only true opponent had always been—Yuki.

That devilish woman.

Shamelessly coveting her Yuu, clinging to him every chance she got—no matter the time, no matter the place.

Worse, that woman always had new tricks up her sleeve.

Sometimes, even Sora had to retreat in the face of her tactics.

Still, in Sora's mind, she and Yuki were evenly matched.

As long as her opponent was just her, Sora would never lose.

But today, Yuu had brought home a woman from outside their familiar "orphanage zone."

Danger!

All Sora's internal alarms went off.

"And he even saw her off himself..."

She peeked through a crack in the door, spying on the woman not far away.

The familiar Sobu High uniform.

Purple hair. Big. Slender waist. Long legs...

"Ugh! A seductive older sister type!"

Sora looked down at her pale toes, completely exposed—and grew even angrier.

She squeezed her little black bunny plush tight.

Even from ten meters away, she could see the way that woman looked at Yuu—with eyes full of affection.

"Yuu's still young and innocent… What if he gets tricked by some evil seductress?!"

This was the first woman he'd personally brought home. Sora knew she had to treat this with the appropriate level of tactical seriousness.

She sprinted to the kitchen.

Inside, Sakura was calmly preparing a meal—her only true hobby.

The sight of Yuu enjoying her food always filled her with irreplaceable joy.

"Sakura! Yuu's in danger!"

The sudden declaration startled Sakura so badly she nearly dropped her knife.

"W-What happened?"

"The woman Yuu brought home is dangerous!"

Sakura blinked in surprise, then set down the knife with a helpless smile.

"Oh, you mean Busujima-senpai? She's the captain of the kendo club. Yuu trains with her often."

Sora's expression stayed serious.

"But she likes Yuu!"

"And if Yuu ends up liking her back, she might take him away from us!"

Sakura's eyes flickered.

Did Busujima-senpai like Yuu?

Feelings like that were hard to hide—especially when viewed from a third-party perspective.

Sakura hadn't interacted much with Busujima.

Every time she did, it was when the girl was with Yuu.

And yes, she had sensed faint admiration from Busujima's gaze.

But—

"Yuu is so amazing... Who wouldn't fall for him?" Sakura thought silently.

She gently patted Sora's little head.

"Yuu would never leave us."

"Because he loves us more."

A blush crept across Sakura's cheeks, and she kept sneaking glances toward the kitchen door—afraid her embarrassing words might've been overheard.

But Sora stayed silent.

After holding her gaze for three seconds, she suddenly turned and sprinted off again.

"No good!"

"Sakura's way too relaxed! She's got no sense of danger at all!"

Only a brave little sister could earn Onii-chan's love first!

Sora racked her brain for allies.

Kanao? Nah—too oblivious in this area.

Suguha? Way too stacked—automatic disqualification!

"Looks like I'll have to do this alone…"

Sora let out a determined sigh.

As for Yuki—she never even considered teaming up with her.

That woman would stab her in the back in a heartbeat.

Back in her room, Sora pulled open a drawer.

Inside were stacks of… gal games.

All of them were little sister routes!

Her new passion.

And after playing so many, she'd come to a realization:

The biggest obstacle to a little sister's success wasn't love, or competition.

It was the label of being a "little sister" itself!

Sora used to think the solution was to make Yuu abandon that mindset—to stop seeing her as just a sister.

But that approach hadn't worked.

So, now she had a new plan.

She picked up last year's release: "Angel".

In it, the little sister was a real blood sister.

And yet—you could still romance her!

Sora's plan was simple:

Get Yuu to play this game with her.

Show him that even a real sister could be part of a love story.

And she wasn't even his real sister. So logically…

"Yuki, this time—I'm taking the lead!"

Her eyes sparkled as she fired up the game.

...

In the living room, Kuzeha was drying Kanao's hair when Sora burst in.

"Yuu, I wanna play a game with you!"

He blinked. "Game?"

It was the first time she'd ever asked him that.

He hadn't played much in this world—mostly just Minesweeper.

After two lives of experience, he could spot the mines in just a few clicks.

Once he finished drying Kanao's hair, he followed Sora into her room.

And the moment he saw the screen art and title—

"…Ah. Gal game, huh."

He grinned, picking up the controller.

Sora's eyes lit up.

She plopped down next to him, sticking close.

Galgames were single-player.

Her job was to guide him through the story—and especially down the sister route.

She had already saved at the critical branch.

Just a few correct choices away from entering the sweet, romantic daily life with the imouto heroine!

"This is the reincarnated demon king… this one's the angel protecting him… and this one—his real little sister…"

Sora narrated the backstory and nudged him toward the sister route.

And soon, the story reached the scene she wanted him to see.

Text scrolled across the screen.

The sister's cute voice rang out from the speakers:

"Ahn… This is a love bite from me, so other women won't try to take you, Onii-chan"

"If it's Onii-chan, then it's okay…"

"Looks like I'm the only one who can teach Onii-chan now~"

"Loser, loser, Onii-chan's just a loser~"

"Onii-chan… I love you the most~"

"You're still trying to run away? Even after everything we've done?"

Honestly, Kuzeha figured out the game's genre pretty early.

With Sora guiding him so eagerly, her intentions were crystal clear.

He reached out and gently pinched her cheek.

Sora blushed and glanced up at him.

Their eyes met—and she immediately looked away again.

"He definitely noticed… but he didn't stop me…"

Her heart filled with joy.

He didn't object—that meant he accepted it!

And if he accepted it… that meant he agreed!

Sora was overjoyed at how perfectly her plan was working.

If she just got him to play this a few more times over the next few days, their relationship would definitely evolve!

Victory over Yuki was within reach!

And then—

A powerful line blasted from the screen:

"Real little sisters are okay too!"

Right then, the door burst open.

"Exactly!"

"That's what makes them the best!"

Sora slowly turned her head toward the doorway.

There stood Yuki.

Of course she showed up at the worst moment…

But Sora couldn't lose her momentum.

She crossed her arms and pouted.

"Why are you here again?! What's this got to do with you and real sisters?!"

Yuki blinked, feigning innocence.

"My, my. Looks like our dear Sora-chan still doesn't know…"

In a flash, she slid next to Kuzeha, clung to his arm, and struck a peace sign.

"I am Onii-chan's real little sister, after all~"

Real… little sister?!

Sora's jaw dropped.

She turned to Kuzeha in disbelief—and he nodded.

Her whole world collapsed.

So all her effort just now… was paving the way for Yuki?!

"Onii-chan, Sakura says it's time to eat!"

Yuki called out casually.

And before she left, she gave Sora a thumbs-up.

"Sora-chan, you've finally grown up! Real art deserves to be appreciated~"

Her words echoed as Sora collapsed onto the sofa, eyes rolling back.

So unfair…!
