Chapter 2 - Beginning of Different Path to Magic

Ravion was devastated that he couldn't use magic. His dream of becoming The Arcane King was shattered into pieces. He was running into the woods, crying, sobbing. He cried, "All my years of training in magic have been completely in vain! All those years of training I have done- did it mean nothing?" Ravion was running into the woods, then stopped, as he saw a group of goblins. They were running in a circle around a boar that was freshly killed. One goblin licked his dagger clean. All the goblins had bloodlust. They were ready for another prey.

Ravion was frightened. He was so scared that he was unable to move. He gathered his strength and walked a step backward. But he stepped on a branch.

CRACK.

All the goblins heard the nose. They slowly looked towards him. They were looking at him like they had found their next prey.

All the goblins were excited for their next prey. They all charged at him. Ravion ran as quickly as he could. His heart was beating very fast. He ran and ran but he was not as quick as the goblins.

"Goblins are said to be one of the weakest creatures. And I am running from them? I can't even outrun them.", Ravion thought while crying and running.

One of the goblins cut off his path. He was in front of Ravion. Ravion tumbled down. The goblin looked beneath him. His face was covered with blood lust. Ravion pushed the goblin's feet. The goblin fell. But it wasn't over. The other goblin had already caught up with him. The goblins were ready to attack and Ravion, out of desperation, tried to run off. But one of the goblins threw his dagger. The dagger kissed Ravions back. Ravion fell on this stomach. Goblins, a prey animal but tonight, they were gonna be predators.

All the goblins surrounded him. All with murderous intent. All the life moments flashed before Ravion's eye. Sister Isodle telling him the story of The Arcane King and him wanting to become like him. "What a fool i was.", he thought laughing at himself remembering that moment. He remembered the market. It was full of magic users. "It was a beautiful scene. At that moment I thought that I could be their guardian wizard. I thought I would be the best, I thought I could save them from danger. Pathetic. I can't even save myself from goblins", Ravion thought, disgusted with himself. He remembered the morning. He remembered being excited. "I was so excited. But I got the reality checked. I should have known that I couldn't use magic after I failed to learn magic after practicing for three years. I should have accepted that I have no mana and shouldn't have run off. I shouldn't have run off.", he thought with some sadness and regret.

The goblins were ready to finish their prey. One goblin stepped forward. It raised its dagger. It was ready to kill it. It tried to plunge its dagger to finish Ravion off. Ravion closed his eyes and he was ready to die. "It is doing this world a favor.", he thought.

AAAAARGH.

Ravion heard the goblin scream. He was confused. He opened his eyes. The goblin that was ready to kill had turned into ashes.

Ravion along with the goblins were confused. "How did the goblin die", all thought.

Aaaaargh!

Another goblin died. There were many fireballs being thrown at them. The goblins were being killed one by one. The goblins all charged at Ravion. Then a shadowy figure appeared. One sweep by him and all the goblins fell. He had an intense presence. All the goblins were frightened. They all tried to flee. But they couldn't outrun his magic.

Ravion felt that moment as being very beautiful. The way the figure was fighting, the way he was using magic. It was very beautiful. "Forget the Arcane King. I want to become like him.", Ravion thought. But too much blood was drawn from him and he became unconscious.

Out of desperation a goblin hiding in the bushes casted a fireball towards Ravion. The shadowy figure noticed it but it was too late. He couldn't stop it. It was already right next to Ravion. The fireball hit Ravion but nothing happened to Ravion. The fireball vanished as if it was absorbed by Ravion. The shadowy figure was worried but his worry turned into a smirk as if he knew this moment would happen.

After the goblin's attack he was angry. The shadowy figure unleashed a devastating attack. It left a very bright light. It was seen by father Alric and sister Isodle. They were afraid that Ravion would get hurt. They rushed to the battle spot as quickly as they could. When they reached the battlefield they were shocked. They saw a large ground surrounded by flames and ashes. There were many dead goblins scattered. They saw a man murdering every goblin in his way. He was laughing sinisterly. They were worried for Ravion.

They locked all around the battlefield and saw Ravion injured laying on the ground. They rushed towards Ravion. They saw the dagger plunged inside him. Sister Isodle quickly pulled it out. Father saw Raven's dying state, and performed the Healing of Life, a great healing spell that recovers every organ but uses a lot of mana. Ravion's body started to glow in cyan and his wounds started to heal. Ravion was unconscious but he was now fine.

Both father alric and sister Isodel saw the hooded man as a menace to society and a psychopath. They thought that he was the one responsible for the injuries of Ravion.

They were not wrong and who wouldn't think like that if the battlefield was filled with blood and menacing laughter.

They were scared. They were trembling out of pure fear. Father picked up Ravion and tried to flee the battlefield.

As they were fleeing, the hooded man cut their path off. The duo scared casted fireball but it did no harm to the man.

"I mean no harm-" the man tried to say with a calm approach but they didn't listen. They screamed, throwing fireballs everywhere.

The man tried to calm them but there was no way he could. Every time they fled, the hooded man cut them off and they screamed and threw fireballs. Their tenth fireball grazed the hooded man's clock. He glanced at them with a terrifying look. Father and sister were even more terrified.

After the fifteenth fireball missed the hooded man. The hooded man again tried to say, "I mean no harm-'' But sister Isodle screamed, "DEMON" and launched another fireball. The hooded man lost his patient. He sighed with dissepiment, "Ugh! Nothing can be done with these two." and incanted, "Perfect Illusion. Infinite me."

Just then father Alric and sister Isodle were surrounded by what seemed like an infinite hooded man. The infinite hooded man crossed them in unison, "Now", the voice echoed into eternity, "are you still going to cast fireballs or shall we try talking."

Father Alric knew that the hooded man was beyond powerful. He knew that if the man wanted he could stop and kill them at any moment. He knew that he should just talk. Sister Isodle tried to cast fireball but father Alric stopped her and said with a calm voice, "We're ready to talk." "Finally", the hooded man replied with a relive in his voice. All the infinite figures vanished and just stood one hooded man.

"What do you want with us?", asked father Alric.

"Don't you remember me, Father Alric? I was the man from that night", replied the hooded man.

"So, you're that man hun? Why did you leave him?", father asked with a surprise in his face.

"I have my reasons that I can't disclose." the hooded man replied.

"So are you here to take Ravion from us?", sister Isodle asked the hooded man with tears coming out her eyes.

"No", the man replied. Sister Isodle was relieved.

The hooded man further replied, "By this point both you two and Ravion know of his disconnection from magic. Sorry, I meant his zero mana in a world where magic is everything. Don't worry about him. He is here for a greater reason. He will be considered one of the greatest one day. But that day is far longer from today. Before that he must learn to protect himself. I will provide you with this book. This will teach him to survive in this world. It is precious to me so don't lose it."

Sister Isodle took the book. Both father and sister looked at the book. It was titled, "The Basic of Swords" Both looked up to thank the man but he was nowhere to be seen. After that encounter they returned to the church.

A mana less boy in a world where magic is everything. Now he has got a sword book! How will the world treat him? Will it show kindness or despair? Will he overcome his weakness and be strong or will the world swallow his hard work? The story is getting even more interesting.
