Fagua
The sound of glass shattering and a body hitting the floor caused my heart to jump into my throat. I didn't hesitate. I ran into the kitchen
"Husk!"
He was lying on the floor with the refrigerator door wide open.
I knelt next to him, and my hand trembled as I reached out to check his pulse. His shallow breathing calmed me a fraction. But why had he passed out? He had an injury on his shoulder, but wolves healed quickly.
"What's going on here?" Winter said from the doorway. "It looks like a tornado hit this place."
"It's Husk. He's unconscious," I called out, not wanting to leave his side.
Winter and Sky rushed into the kitchen. The panicked looks on their faces made my chest tighten.
"What happened?" Winter demanded.
"I have no idea," I said. "I mean, he was fine earlier when he was fighting the wolves and then I found him like this."
"Is he breathing?" Sky knelt next to me and his magic swirled around us.
"He's breathing. I can feel his pulse too. And he's warm." My fingers touched his cheek and I leaned over him, brushing his dark hair out of his face. How could someone who hated me look so innocent and handsome while not awake? I let out a shuddering breath, and a knot in my chest loosened that he seemed to be breathing evenly.
"What's happening to him?" I asked as Winter knelt on the other side of him. "Is it because we haven't bonded?" Sky had been in bad shape too before we connected on a physical and emotional level.
Though Husk never seemed interested in me like that. He always seemed irritated. Even more so when I showed any sign of intimacy with Sky or Winter.
Sky whipped out his phone. "I'll have him picked up—"
"I'm fucking fine." Husk groaned, trying to move.
I gasped, moving back to give him room. "Should you be moving around so quickly?"
"You need to get checked out. Maybe fluids and other medicine can help buy you time," Sky said as he gave me a pleading look, and I nodded.
"Yes, whatever can help." I reached out and squeezed Sky's hand.
"No more argument," Winter said. "It's three against one."
Husk growled. "Fine. No ambulance, though. I'm not a goddamn cripple yet."
"I'll take you in my car," Sky said and let go of my hand.
"And I'll call ahead to let the doc know we're on our way." Winter cleared his throat, giving me a sideways glance. "He should get the wolf serum ready for you."
And when I get back, I'm punching both of you for leaving Fagua alone," Husk grumbled as he sat on the couch, then cringed, his face turning ashen. "Either of you fucking do that again and I'll rip your throats out."
"We need to leave," Sky said, and he and Winter helped pull Husk to his feet.
While Winter and Sky carried Husk out to Sky's car, I cleaned up the broken bottle and beer that had spilled all over the floor. I busied myself with making sure every sliver of glass was gone. Anything to keep myself from thinking about how this was my fault. How I was supposed to mate with all three alphas to keep the curse from killing them?
It had nearly gutted me when I saw how weak Sky was after this had happened to him. I didn't think I could stomach it happening again.
Except Husk and I had a rocky history already. He was the one who locked me in the penthouse when I'd first come up here with the three of them. I'd insulted him without meaning to and he went all caveman on me.
All those weeks ago, I'd connected with Winter. We had a lot in common. But then Sky was in a coma because of the curse.
Now Husk. I was the only one who could break the curse by being with all three wolves.
