Chapter 28 - Asian Man Brings Real Lightsaber to Governor's Medieval Roleplay Party. The Governor Doesn't Host the Party or Invite Role Players.
"…Two."
Fu Tong sliced through an immortal tamer with the halberd blade, cutting through the man's dantian. The tamer dissipated into glass shards and vanished.
After dispatching the second immortal, he fetched more karma coins and rushed to assist the other fox elders. The freed elder also accompanied him.
As Fu Tong charged, he shouted, warning the elder in combat.
"Stop his movements!"
The fox elder raised an eyebrow while he parried 17 homing daggers. As he retreated, he drew an incantation symbol in mid-air and summoned ghost hands, which latched onto the immortal tamer.
Seeing the tamer getting stuck in mid-air, Fu Tong swung the crescent blade halberd, beheading the tamer in one swing.
"Three!"
The head and the body turned into glass shards and vanished along with the others.
The following elder whistled. Curious, he asked Fu Tong.
"Young Master, what be thy skill? How didst thou hinder the immortal's gift of self-restoration?"
Without looking back, Fu Tong answered.
"Karmic weapon."
"Karmic weapon? What may that be?"
Fu Tong created 100 karma coins and passed them to the elder. He explained. "We can inject our Qi into karma coins and convert their energy and coin into form Qi weapons. These created weapons can disable self-regeneration abilities. We only need to cut them once, and we win."
The two elders behind Fu Tong were enlightened. They looked at each other and smirked. Fetching the coins that Fu Tong had given them days prior, they tested the coin perks, created a long needle with one coin.
"Very convenient!" They laughed and rushed to help the others. The second elder also had a mischievous grin on his face as he separated from the group, charging at an immortal tamer who was battling his comrade.
Fu Tong smacked his lips, regretting revealing the secret too early. He still needed seven more kills before midnight. However, the sky battlefield gradually expanded as these immortals flew randomly during the battle.
Without a choice, Fu Tong chased after the nearest tamer.
—
Ji Guoli watched the battle unfold. Because of Huli Jiubai's people and Fu Tong, the pressure on the siege battle lessened. Their quasi-immortals easily dealt with the monsters while local cultivators handled the leftovers.
Also, Ji Guoli noticed a pattern among the monster army. Every time Fu Tong or the fox elders killed an immortal tamer, the monsters paused and looked around in confusion as if they forgot why they were there.
While observing the situation, he also received reports from his subordinates.
"Ocean Fort has fallen."
"We've lost contact with the White Tree City."
"Feather Beach City's governor has sent a message. He said immortals from the Starlight Taming Guild have broken the Laws of Karma and invaded a mortal world. All Ji Clan members must evacuate and head to the Imperial Palace as soon as possible and wait for the reinforcement!"
Ji Guoli nodded and turned around. He looked at Ji Zixuan and Ji Ziyan, who were also watching the battle.
"Father…" Ji Ziyan shuddered in fear. He had never participated in such large-scale warfare before, let alone a fair fight or a duel with someone the same rank.
Ji Guoli slapped Ji Ziyan's face and scolded him. "You were so brave when you were in front of someone weaker. Look at you. When it gets difficult, you shake like a wet stray dog! I didn't raise you to be a useless trash. Get the hell out of my sight and leave the city! You're useless here!"
Ji Ziyan was taken aback. He lowered his head, hiding his angry expression. While gnashing his teeth, he turned around and flew away alone.
Ji Guoli turned to Ji Zixuan. Opposite to the elder brother, she stood firm, carrying a steel spear and ready to join the battle at any moment.
Seeing his daughter, Ji Guoli regretted that his daughter was born with the wrong gender. He wished that Ji Ziyan had half of her courage.
"Xuan'er, you don't have to fight. You should flee to the Imperial Duck City."
Ji Zixuan shook her head. She gazed at the sky, where Fu Tong and others chased after the enemies. Although she couldn't see his movements clearly, Ji Zixuan could tell that they were winning.
"Young Master Fu is helping us without asking anything in return. As the eldest daughter of the governor, I can't just turn tail and run on my own while the guests are fighting for us. Father, no matter the ordeal, I will stay and watch this through to the very end!"
Ji Guoli almost shed a tear of joy and pride. He was proud of her.
"Do you like Young Master Fu Tong?" Asked Ji Guoli.
Ji Zixuan's face blushed. Despite the embarrassment, she nodded and confessed. "There is no man better than Young Master Fu. If I have to choose someone, I'll pick him."
Ji Guoli was satisfied. "Good. Then, I'll stay with you. Like you said, we can't run away while the guests are fighting for us! Also, it's about time for your father to act like a city lord for once."
The fat governor took off his robes, revealing his bare chest. His Qi erupted, and his physique reverted to a handsome, muscular young man in his 20s. In exchange for the fat lost, his aura soared and matched that of a loose immortal or a 1st-stage immortal. He jumped off the wall and charged toward the array of monster army.
—
The battle, which seemed impossible, ended in two hours. The monster army retreated to the sea after all the immortal tamers had been killed.
Seven fox elders gathered at a bloodstained beach full of mermen's corpses. The old foxes widely grinned as they had learned something useful to combat fellow immortals. Moreover, Fu Tong had distributed 100 karma coins to them to compensate for the coins they had used.
On the other hand, Fu Tong bitterly sighed and tossed away a metal rod, which crumbled to dust after the coin's energy was empty. He wished he had a real immortal-grade weapon.
'In the end, I get five kills. I need five more for the mission. This is going to be rough.'
