Kee Kee burst into the room, tiny horns gleaming in the moonlight that filtered through the broken ceiling. His fur was standing on end, eyes wide with alarm.
"What in the nine hells happened?" he demanded, scampering to Rui's side.
"I was peacefully terrorizing the kitchen staff when—poof!—something yanked my tail across dimensions!"
Heavy footsteps followed as Shen appeared in the doorway, his imposing figure silhouetted against the night sky.
His eyes narrowed at the sight of Zou's prone form and the black corruption spreading across his skin.
"Princess," Shen's voice was tight with concern.
"Your energy signature tore through the realms like a scream. What happened?"
Rui scrambled to her feet, relief washing over her face.
"Thank the demons you found us."
"We were attacked," she explained, words tumbling out in a rush.
"These creatures appeared during my training with Zou," she said, gesturing to his wound.
She gestured frantically to Zou's wound.
