Well, how long will they keep going at it?
I just stared at the family enveloped in snakes walking around the cemetery on the square trail.
They didn't seem to be tired out or anything.
I, right now, was sitting and relaxing on the tombstone I came from, the tombstone of George.
I sat there with my face resting on my hand while staring at the ground.
So, how can I leave this place?
That's the question here.
I am stuck in the sky, or what seemed to be the sky; it had no clouds,, nor any flying organisms could be seen around.
It was just a sky blue background, but I prefer to call it the sky.
There isn't much space, after leaving the cemetery walls, there is only about 3-4 metres before I reach the edge.
I can't jump off, either; there is an invisible barrier stopping me from doing so.
But I want to leave, I need to.
The situation was getting kind of...bad? Worse? I'm not sure, to be honest.
The snakes kept on increasing, and after some close observation, I realised who the cause was.
The family.
It was indeed the family of four; each time they completed a round, more snakes appeared on their body,, magically latching onto them.
And as they continue, these snakes would fall off onto the ground.
I thought the snakes on the ground were latching onto them, but it seems like I was wrong.
They were the cause of these snakes.
Only the small snakes, though.
I sighed and glanced at the trees where the behemoths rested.
Anacondas, pythons and other snakes that weren't supposed to be that 'Huge'.
I haven't allowed any snakes to get close to me, I'm not sure if they're 'capable' of hurting me.
If they are, I'm kind of dead.
Not kind of, if they decided to get violent, I have to have a place to run to.
Well, now what should I do?
There are no clues, nothing seems out of place, and this place doesn't seem to be part of my memories.
So, it seems like not everything has to be from my memories.
Should I be looking for a door or something else?
I'm not sure…
And it had to be snakes out of all things.
I hate snakes, I despise them.
I pray for their extinction every single day.
They disgust me, they sicken me to my core, and I can't stand them.
To be honest, it is kind of reassuring that the snakes don't dare to touch the tombstones.
For some reason, they can't.
I checked every tombstone for this reason, but I found nothing odd about it.
I sighed yet again with my eyes on the ground as footsteps approached.
Well, they completed a round again, huh?
Oh wait…
They're not that fast.
I gave a side glance towards my left, where the family was supposed to be.
And there they were, spreading their snakes onto the ground.
And they were quite far away.
And the footsteps on my right were close.
Damn…harmless or harmful?
I immediately raised my head to look at the mysterious entity that managed to creep up on me.
And to my absolute horror, it was a middle-aged priest with a kind smile.
Not what I expected, but it's not unwelcome.
I gave him a quick glance, from head to toe, and remembered everything I could about him.
White plain robes…a rosary…tanned skin…unkept beard and signs of balding…
He also had forehead folds, by the way.
No way.
I know this dude.
He was the priest of the church I went to.
"Excuse me?"
I need to be polite, so I started off with an excuse.
And the kind-looking man replied without faltering his smile at all, "Hello there, my son, are you lost?"
Lost? Of course I am!
But, can I trust him?
He is not real, that's for sure, and I still haven't confirmed if he is harmless or not.
Well, if he was, I couldn't defend myself from this position; he was just a feet away from me while I was sitting on the tombstone.
He would kill me by the time I stand up.
If it were a normal human, I would've been able to escape or survive.
But how can I be sure that he or this is human?
I thought as I stared at his face.
"Yes, would you mind helping me find my way?"
I answered his question and locked eyes with him.
"But before that, I have a question…"
The man seemingly brightened up at my answer and said, "Ask away."
Of course I will.
I took a huge breath and calmed myself down.
If I die, I die.
I then looked him straight in the eyes and asked, "Are you harmful by any chance?"
The priest just chuckled at my question, not even refuting or agreeing.
"Funny question to ask a dead man."
He threw in a fun fact I didn't ask for.
Yes, he has been dead for over ten years by now.
"I see…so what are you? A ghost? A monster trying to disguise itself to let my guard down? Or is it just my mind playing tricks on me?"
I asked, but I didn't like the way he was so laid-back, though.
"None, and I prefer not to say, but I promise I mean no harm."
That was his answer, actually,, and the 'no harm' was the final straw as I decided to get up.
I patted off the dust and looked him in the eye and said, "Then lead the way."
He didn't reply and just nodded his head and walked towards the entrance with me following him.
"Don't ask any further questions as we walk." He said with a stern tone, and I just nodded in agreement.
Just what in the actual hell is going on right now?!
I was confused, bewildered, and all sorts of emotions were assaulting my brain right now.
This all feels like a fever dream, man.
"And…don't be afraid."
Afraid? Afraid of what?
And then my vision went dark.
Literally.
Dammit.
