"Ahhhh—!"

A rather undignified scream pierced the air.

Sasame jolted awake, eyes snapping toward the window where a black speck was rapidly shrinking into the distance.

Wife, come quick, look—it's God!

...Wait, I don't have a wife.

But I do have a teacher.

He dressed quickly and stepped into the hallway. The living room was empty, but the sliding door to the garden stood open.

Outside, Tsunade stood with her arms crossed, visibly irritated. Beside her, Shizune looked like she'd just witnessed a massacre.

"Who was screaming just now?" Sasame asked, intrigued.

"Jiraiya."

Tsunade flexed her fist with a scowl. "Don't mind him. He's a hopeless pervert. Stay away."

She knew Jiraiya well—his loyalty to Konoha was absolute, but his conduct around women was... questionable. The man's peeping habits alone were enough to send any sane woman running.

And then there was Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Truly, a rotten apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

But Sasame? She'd never let him pick up those habits.

"Got it."

Sasame nodded, though his mind was already elsewhere. Why is Jiraiya back in the village?

It couldn't be for Naruto—the kid was only three, and Hiruzen would never hand him over. Unless Jiraiya planned to rebel (which he wouldn't), there was nothing he could do.

As for "stealing" Tsunade?

Not a chance.

Jiraiya had long since buried his heart under prophecies and duty. He was a great shinobi, but a terrible romantic. In the original timeline, he'd fumbled every opportunity.

Now, with Sasame here?

Yeah. That ship has sailed.

After breakfast, Tsunade led Sasame and Kabuto to Training Ground 4, where Inuzuka Hana was already waiting—alongside a large, wolfish gray dog that looked suspiciously like a husky.

"Lady Tsunade!" Hana bowed hastily.

Tsunade wasted no time. "For the next three months, you'll be training under me. The method is simple: simulate combat scenarios and attack me."

No small talk. No warm-up. Just action.

Hana blinked. "Huh?"

"Today's scenario: frontal assault." Tsunade clapped her hands. "Sasame takes point. Kabuto and Hana provide support."

Suiton: Suiryūdan! (Water Style: Water Whip!)

Sasame struck first, a coiled stream of water lashing toward Tsunade like a whip.

Kabuto followed up instantly, hurling a smoke bomb.

The battle had begun.

Hana stood frozen for a second.

You guys don't waste time, huh?

Shikyaku no Jutsu! (Four Legs Technique!)

Dropping to all fours, she charged into the smoke, her movements eerily canine. Her nose twitched—the Inuzuka clan's heightened sense of smell made her perfect for obscured combat.

Her ninken (ninja dog) moved in sync beside her.

"Brat, you're ruthless."

Tsunade caught the water whip mid-air and yanked. Sasame stumbled forward—

—just in time to meet her boot.

You're one to talk!

His body dissolved into water. A Mizu Bunshin (Water Clone).

Behind Tsunade, Hana and her ninken lunged for her vitals.

"Good timing."

Tsunade spun, kicking both away with effortless precision. (The dog's pitiful "Awooo!" echoed through the field.)

But her praise wasn't for Hana—it was for Kabuto.

A rain of poisoned senbon descended from above.

If Hana's attack had landed—or even pinned Tsunade for a second—those needles would've been impossible to dodge.

Tsunade flicked a handful of kunai upward, weaving a net of steel that deflected every needle.

Suiton: Suiryūdan no Jutsu! (Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!)

A serpent of water erupted from her right flank.

"Ah, there you are."

Tsunade's grin widened as she shattered the dragon with a single leap, landing right in front of Sasame.

"Caught you~"

This was fun for her—a game of tag.

Sasame didn't answer. Instead, he spread his arms wide.

...A hug? Psychological warfare?

Then—

Splash!

A torrent of water dumped onto Tsunade from above.

Sasame didn't stick around to admire the view. He bolted.

Because the real Tsunade would've dodged.

This was a Kage Bunshin (Shadow Clone).

Sure enough, the ground beneath him exploded as Tsunade's fist rocketed upward.

Too fast to evade.

But a glass vial shattered against her knuckles.

Kabuto's doing.

Poisonous gas billowed out—

—which Tsunade inhaled deeply, completely unfazed.

"Not bad potency."

She smirked before resuming her relentless chase after Sasame.

Kabuto sighed. Yeah, figured that wouldn't work.

Half an hour later, two humans and one dog lay sprawled on the grass.

Only Tsunade and Sasame remained standing—though she wasn't even winded, while he was drenched in sweat.

The winner was obvious.

"Take five."

Tsunade's gaze swept over them. Shizune hurried forward to check on Hana and Kabuto.

Hana had taken the worst beating. Her skills were decent, but keeping up with this pace was brutal.

Kabuto, as a medic-nin, had his hands full just keeping Sasame in the fight and patching up Hana (and her dog).

Tsunade's preference for close-quarters combat meant Kabuto couldn't use explosives—unless he wanted to accidentally blow up Sasame instead.

Hana, meanwhile, was exhausted—but weirdly impressed.

Sasame had held his own against Tsunade. And Kabuto? She'd expected a backline medic, not a battlefield multitasker who could fight, heal, and revive her dog mid-combat.

No slacking off here.

Time flew.

Soon, it was Sasame's tenth birthday.

Honestly, he didn't care much—but Tsunade did.

As the "head of the household," she went all out, inviting Yakushi Nono, Hyūga Rinka, Hyūga Hinata, and others.

The celebration was far grander than previous years.

And the gifts?

Tsunade gave him a golden tassel to adorn his Raijin Sword (probably made of sheep wool, he guessed).

That night, as usual, Sasame slipped into Hinata's room with a bundle of food.

She fidgeted, her voice barely above a whisper.

"U-Um... Sasame-nii... I..."

"What's up?"

He set down the meal, glancing at her.

"Today... is your birthday..."

Her cheeks burned as she bowed deeply. "I... I didn't get you a gift. I'm sorry."

Sasame waved it off. "Don't worry about it. Let's eat."

Hinata nodded meekly.

But as he packed up afterward, she hesitated—then spoke in a voice so soft it could melt stone.

"Sasame-nii... can I... ask you something?"
