Being inside Via's realm of influence was always interesting, and ever changing. She was skilled at gathering intel from any reflective surface, and only got stronger as time passed. I never knew what new or exciting breakthrough my half-sister would come across and share. Via could also be called odd or even a bit mad, with her oddities and I loved her all the more for them. She had bonded with Seika quickly, and the two were often found heads together. This always distressed Dragon a lot, much to my own amusement.
Not that I could blame him, neither girl knew the meaning of the word restraint. Together they always, and I do mean always, found trouble that always seemed to end up in my lap, or his. I shook the thoughts as I took the seat Via always made sure was here and unoccupied. The soft dark gray leather pulsed with a soft hum of energy.
Magic was always all around and most could see their own elements. It colored the air when you were looking, growing up one was taught naturally how to block off this connection. How to close your eyes to the swirls of colors, and lights that danced everywhere. Your affinities could also be interpreted as what you drew to yourself. A give and take of energy that could often show personality traits.
Voids could see this, the soul, the aura and the flow of it all. Some could only see the energy being drawn in, maybe knew what it ment. The flow of all energy was something only higher bloodlines could see or feel. I focused as the energy shifted and the doorway we had entered became a mirror wall once again.
"So the Labyrinth has a central system, and we need someone who manipulate it. That is our current top priority, even amoung top brass very few can even pass the area we are going." As I spoke I watched everyone closely, Seika was already walking through the doorway that was now to my left. Dragon had slumped into his usual chair his silver hair obscuring his eyes.
"This is known to be in Dead End, the zone that is completely unpredictable and chaotic." Dragon's soft rumble came only a breath after my words but I could see it. Most of the time he kept his power very closely guarded, but the pressure a Dragon could emit. I sensed it that oh so small flare, most of the troublesome creatures would avoid us, or at least him.
"We have Keshiro, and you have Viridis. They both are aware of what to do." Viridis being the youngest male barely starting to mature, did not change inherent instincts. They were apex predatory creatures, with undeniable raw magic. He would protect her just as strongly as every other member in his family, but I trusted Dragon. Logic, experience, and knowledge on personal levels had taught me well.
I closed my eyes as I swung my legs over one arm of my chair. I shifted curling into the massive chair my elder sister had gifted me. 'Seika?' I pushed the thought out connecting with her aura. While both her brothers would protect her, our Kitsune was far from helpless.
'Yes~' Ones mental 'voice' your inner thoughts could be broadcast specifically. Well they could if the recipient had the specific skill set.
'I will need you on back up for the witch. However, first I must know about after I left.' I had been a participant in our birth fathers death. He had been abusive to me and my mother, so I had made a decision. I knew he would, could, and had taken his anger out on the other two. He had hurt my eldest sister, and even the mother we shared.
While Via was his daughter she had never interacted with him, actually actively avoiding him. However it would be in everyone's best interest if I had medical on standby. Seika was usually prepared for most things, her bag was a very nice storage magic item. Her new mother adored buying all sorts of things for all her children.
"Follow the maid." Vias voice was off, I shuddered as I curled a single leg up in the chair against my chest. They looked at us oddly but did as told before my knee had even reached my chest. I leaned on my own leg pressing forward as I touched the daggers in my boots as I opened my eyes.
"Fae?" I choked on the word even as Via finally faced me fully. I felt the flicker of nerves, anxiety and the cold pit as I looked into her face.
"She's fine." Via gave a shrug even as she wrinkled her nose in distaste. My sister's creamy skin was flushed with her anger, but I had once said she looked most beautiful when angry. We had met by her choice, she had known of her half-sisters. I had not known that at first, though I had figured it out. I loved her so much, but I also loved Fae just as much and it.....bothered her.
"What happened?" She could be as angry as she wanted at Fae, we could deal with it later. For now I had to know that everything I had set up, everything I had done was worth it.
"I'm not happy. However Seth managed his part well so she's getting trained. Although she's being stubborn and a pain, so I doubt she will learn much." She turned up her nose at me as our matching eyes locked, she was very angry. I felt a wave of relief through my body, and finally relaxed just a bit. I dropped my head back even as I heard the clack of her heels going back and forth.
"It is not her fault." As I spoke I dropped my head my own eyes locking with hers. Her eyes lit with fire but it was somehow cold but I felt my own anger flare in return. "Fae is sick, you know that Via, so she can not take the blame for what our father did."
"He hurt you, a lot." Her eyes were molten with anger as the sharp smell of cold and metal intensified. "She didn't stop him either!" Her words were louder as she swung her hands down and I feel the air shift becoming sharp. I took a deep breath as I allowed my own energy to flare. I was losing my ability to feel, and I needed her to give up this issue with our older sister.
It always felt like I was letting fog or mist out around me. The area always became damp, and a bit cooler than when I was restrained. I had been told many smelled like sweet roses and vanilla or lavender. Always sweet but floral, and often made people think of cakes. I could only ever shake my head at that, a distinct smell but impossible to fully explain with one whiff. I watched Via's shoulders relax, soon I would only be able to rely on physical cues and not energy to discern high emotions.
"She tried, and succeeded a few times but if he had killed her it would have gotten worse. She did what her frail body could to protect me, but I hid as much as I could." I had proected her as much as possible, especially when the so few hits had left her sick for so long. I held a hand out as Via opened her mouth "Also, who would have taken care of mother then? Giving birth to me did something to her, so I must do what I can to make up for that."
I watched her stomp back and forth across her foyer heels clacking. She turned eyes flashing but I spoke again "Is Seika treating them now?"
"Yes but that's beside the point Chaos!" Her energy was sharp now, like broken glass, as it exploded.
"No, it is the point." I pushed my energy out as her own energy sharpened and smothered her energy in mine. "I'll make sure they get opportunities they lost due to me, make their lives easier." I however was not going to allow that bastard to reap the benefits of my existance. "He saw the curse th-"
"Your not cur-" Even as she interrupted me I was moving a hand on her mouth cutting off her words. Her own energy surged against mine even as I gave a soft smile.
"I know! I know something more exists for me than an existance feeling nothing. There has to be a way around it and I will find the full truth of what I am. I won't give up any of my goals Via. Not one, that is one of my rules so you really have to listen this time." I removed my hand giving my head a shake even as I stepped back.
"I don't like her!" She spat but her energy had started to dissipate and I felt numb as I held her shoulders.
"I know but you have to leave it be, can you do that?"
"I...I.....don't k-know....." At least she was honest, I could always count on her for that.
"For me can you? Please Lasciva?" I was not above asking nicely, I saw her waver.
"Via~" The voice startled us both and we traded embarrassed smiles as we turned.
"S-Seika?!" She was in the communication mirror that followed Via. The mirror took up one whole wall, but was made of multiple smaller pieces.
"Yes~" She giggled "You have to listen because I will be with Fae and you'll be the only one we can trust until time to act. So Via you just need to leave the situation alone, I'll handle it okie?~" Kitsunes could be very, very dangerous but for the first time no shudder slid down my spine. Charm, a ability that was uncommon even amoung the races known for it.
"F-fin-f-fine." There was only a handful of races that could use the ability, and up to a point it was subconscious. However some could train with the ability, taking it far further than acceptable. She loved Fae, Kitsunes made destiny and fate look weak of only one bloodline. She bonded to my sister when Fae had saved her, but that is their story.
"Now can you please tell me about the other void you have found?" I asked as I dug my fingers into the soft material of the chair, if Seika wasn't worried it was as I wanted. The Kitsune disappeared from the mirror as Via waved a hand. I saw the Troll village of Whitgrald the only settlement of theirs outsiders were allowed. Settled into a valley between the northern mountains of Terra, I scowled as it would be difficult to gather them today.
I watched as the mirror narrowed in on the Glaceth forest, Glacial Death being the closest translation. It narrowed in on the heart of the forest and then the mirror fragmented. It showed flashes of the Heart of the forest, a dangerous journey was ahead. I was looking forward to this, and smiled as the view changed to a figure.
The pale figure showed in flickers and flashes of reflections. I could see similarities between our expressions, she was further into the void however. Her eyes were.....so empty, and while I would say I gave off a cold aura, her's was glacial.
