Edward James was struggling to eat so, he excused himself and went back upstairs.
'This is harder than I thought' he murmured but didn't expect someone to be there nor hear what he whispered to himself.
"What's harder than you thought?" Asked the voice from behind and it's none other than Maria. At the dinning table she observed everyones mood like they're all hidding something from her. When Edward James excused himself and didn't return after five minutes she went after him but didn't expect to see him so restless as he pased about the room.
"Is there something you're not telling me Edward? Maria asked taking soft steps towards him, Edward James quickly recovered from the shock of her been behind him. Not ready to face her he walked towards the window and opened it breathing in the fresh air that comes with it but he didn't get the comfort of it.
" I had know choice Maria" he voiced out before facing her.
Maria gave him the 'go ahead' look.
"I got to know about your daughters health from the hospital when the doctors asked for a part payment before treatment. I was mad at Cent Clark for abusing a toddler in such cruel manner; so I had the doctor clone her face on another child who passed away few hours before. Then brought little Maria to the James hospital for proper treatment_ look I didn't mean to hurt_" before he could process what just happened he received another.
Maria slapped him hard across his face several times, he let her vent out her anger on him.
"How dare you play with the emotions of a mother in such a wicked manner? Who gave you the right to separate a mother from her child? Do you know how many nights I've suffered with the thought of loosing my child? Do you know how I struggle to leave everyday at a time, I thought you were different but you're worst than them all!" She sniffed back her tears before she continued. " I need a divorce and I'll fight you with last drop of my blood for her custody" she told him and ran into the washroom shutting the door tightly.
All she said and the slaps he received from her didn't break him as her last statement penetrated through his bones. "I need a divorce" these four words struck his heart like two edged sword reaping his heart.
He felt soft tap on his shoulder and he took in a deep breath before dismissing him. "I want to be left alone" he said
"You should give her time, she'll come around" Kristen told him before going out with his wife.
"My dear" grandma James called him and he turned to hug her buring his face on her nap.
"I've waited this long mama, why's love so cruel to me?" He sobbed silently.
"Shhh, you're the best soul am blessed to have since after your parents death my boy so, you have to pull yourself together just like the blue blood you're" grandma tried to comfort him.
"She asked for a divorce mama, I never new am this cruel by separating a mother from a child. I did it for the safety of the child mama_ please I don't want to lose her, tell her I'll go far away but won't divorce her mama, I love her so much please mama" Edward James felt broken like never before
