On the battlefield, a turquoise electric current erupted from Elekid's body in wild, snake-like patterns, enveloping him in elemental armor. The electricity violently ravaged everything around it, creating chaotic air currents while cracking the ground into fragments. These broken pieces rose into the air, suspended by the distorted magnetic field.

Like a tyrant born from thunder itself.

"Ala-Ka!" Alakazam's expression grew solemn. Even against Pokémon with intimidating Abilities, it had never felt such overwhelming pressure.

Most of this oppressive feeling emanated from the foreign lightning.

This lightning... was on an entirely different level!

Cade also sensed something wasn't right and quickly issued a command: "Psychic!"

At the same time, Callan and Axel shouted:

"Energy Ball!"

"Earth Power!"

Three attacks of different Types gathered energy and launched toward Elekid.

Simultaneously, Roy spoke in a quiet voice.

"Brick Break!"

The armor of thunder parted momentarily, and immense pain contorted Elekid's expression into something hideous. He raised his arm and delivered a chopping motion.

It was Brick Break, but completely different from any previous iteration of the move.

A flash of lightning streaked through the air, seeming to pause for just a moment.

In the next instant, all three attacks—Energy Ball, Earth Power, and Psychic—shattered, their energy exploding outward. A gust of wind whipped across the battlefield, spreading smoke and dust everywhere.

Through the strong wind, the sound of crackling electricity suddenly intensified. Many students, teachers, and reporters watching the match were momentarily blinded by a flash of brilliant lightning. Before they could see clearly what had happened...

A miserable cry pierced the air.

"Sauur!!!"

Ivysaur flew backward off the field, its fur standing on end, body covered in scorch marks as it crashed to the ground.

Where it had been standing moments before, Elekid now appeared, still cloaked in his lightning armor.

Roy smiled:

"Next, Sandslash."

Hearing Roy single out his Pokémon, Axel quickly shouted, "Get out of the way!"

Sandslash remained alert, eyes fixed on Elekid.

The moment it noticed Elekid's foot exert slight pressure, Sandslash prepared to leap away, but in that instant, it only registered a blur before finding its neck firmly grasped in Elekid's hands.

A sound like thousands of birds chirping in unison filled the air as blue lightning swept over the Ground-type.

"Slash—!!"

Sandslash screamed, experiencing the terror of electrical energy for the first time in its life.

"What's happening?" Axel barely had time to feel concerned for his Pokémon before freezing in confusion.

It was common knowledge that Ground-type Pokémon were completely immune to Electric-type damage.

Sandslash shouldn't be affected by electricity...

Seeing his teammates stunned, Cade grew impatient and sent a telepathic message:

"Alakazam, support your teammates."

Alakazam Teleported to a blind spot behind Elekid and gathered all its strength for a Psycho Cut.

Little did they know, this reaction was exactly what Roy had calculated.

If Elekid could instantly defeat Ivysaur, why couldn't it do the same to Sandslash? Why the slow torture with lightning?

The reason was to bait Alakazam into coming to help.

Alakazam, with its mastery of Teleport, was extremely difficult to catch at a distance.

But at close range, the situation became entirely different...

In that moment, Roy used his ability to sense waves to transmit Alakazam's coordinates directly to Elekid.

Elekid suddenly released Sandslash, kicked off the ground with all his might, his body transforming into a cannonball as he slammed into Alakazam.

Despite its powerful psychic abilities, Alakazam reacted too late to Teleport away and was knocked into the air by the direct hit from Elekid.

The collision left the physically frail Alakazam nearly defeated.

As Alakazam struggled to its feet, preparing to Teleport, it suddenly found its arm caught in a tight grip. Looking up, it saw Elekid smiling cruelly as electric current surged around them.

"Ala—"

Alakazam only had time for a desperate groan before being completely engulfed by blue thunder.

Two seconds later.

Alakazam's body convulsed before collapsing, falling into a near-fainted condition.

The arena suddenly grew quiet.

In just a matter of moments, both Ivysaur and Alakazam had been eliminated.

Sandslash, the only one still standing, lay trembling on the ground, traumatized by being electrocuted for the first time in its life.

...Terrifying.

Looking at Elekid exuding his violent aura on the field, the students collectively swallowed.

It wasn't uncommon for them to see Pokémon as powerful as Elekid, but this was the first time they'd witnessed one with such an overwhelming presence. This was definitely not the kind of Pokémon that should appear in a freshman final exam—it was like a higher-tier opponent demolishing lower-ranked trainers.

"What the hell is this? I call foul! Referee, I forfeit! I forfeit! Don't let my Sandslash get electrocuted again!" Axel played up his frustration, using the most dramatic tone possible while trying to save face.

The referee remained silent.

The fact that Sandslash was electrocuted seemed physically impossible.

"The battle is over. Roy and Elekid are the winners."

In the auditorium, noticing Brian's shocked expression, Elon smiled and said: "This situation isn't actually that outrageous... You're too focused on Type advantage theory while ignoring the laws of physics."

"Physics?" Brian asked with a puzzled expression.

In this scientifically questionable world, was Elon really talking about physics?

"Electric energy can't hurt Ground-type Pokémon, but high-voltage current generates heat. As long as the voltage is high enough, the heat it produces can cause considerable damage even to Ground-type Pokémon. This principle applies to insulators like rubber as well." Elon adjusted his glasses as he explained.

"However, what's the origin of this lightning? The voltage is impossibly high," Elon muttered, confused. "Elekid can't fully control it, just letting it run wild. Its true power hasn't even been fully unleashed. For an Elekid to possess this kind of strength..."

Zekrom had never appeared in their world, and Elon couldn't fathom an answer no matter how hard he tried.

Soon, Elon abandoned the line of inquiry.

The stronger Roy became, the better it was for the school team.

Two months ago, betting on Roy's rapid growth to reach school team level had clearly been the right decision.

In fact, Roy's progress far exceeded Elon's expectations.

With a strong new addition to the school team, Elon said with a pleased smile: "Let's go congratulate Roy, and while we're at it, talk to him about the National College League."

Brian asked: "Are you going to tell him about the other school teams?"

"Hmm." Elon rubbed his brow. "The situation looks challenging. If that rumor is true, our old rivals seem particularly formidable this year..."
