Chapter 3 - 3. A new world..?

Camellia... never forget...

I let out a tsk on instinct.

Why do I keep remembering those days... with my eyes still closed I felt the soft earthy soil underneath my body.

Where am I? I opened my eyes to be greeted with the pleasant scenery of a windy meadow before me, a sight I've never seen before outside of pictures and other media.

So I'm... supposed to lay waste to this place huh. "Purge, kill and ransack as you please. The most devoted ones of you I shall personally reward a boon worth more than your own lives." Those words spoken by that god sinked in to me just now.

A point is determined by a single kill and killing a person of interest gives a thousand points worth. The highest scorer shall have their most grandest wish be granted. Those words sounded incredibly enticing but... to abandon ones morals and humanity for the sake of achieving ones goals. Do the ends truly justify the means? I asked myself, whilst walking mindlessly.

Whats that sound?

I heard coming closer from the distance the sound of galloping, perhaps it was a carriage or cavalry of dome sorts? Whatever it was, made me finally understand the setting of this world. A fantasy huh. It was a genre and thematic long overdone and tried, I couldn't really muster up any excitement within me knowing that.

So it was a part of the cavalry. A knight, seemingly of a high ranking came to a halt when they saw me.

"You there, what business do you have here? You look like someone working for the theocratic spine." Said the man with a rather flashy and well adorned set of attire. He looked at me with a wary gaze, his brown eyes piercing a hole through me.

"What? I-I don't get what you're talking about. I apologize but could you elaborate, I sincetely mean no harm. To be frank I have no memories. I can't seem to remember how I got here."

Expecting an answer from him, the man only became more guarded and now intensly glared at me. Putting his hands toward the sheath and handle of his long sword on his hip.

"Your words have inconsistensies, I strictly suggest you choose your next words very carefully." He said, in a still calm yet strict manner that demanded authority.

What did he mean by this...? I quickly scrambled for an answer in my brain only to come up with a question. "I apologize if my words came off rudely to you, may I ask what exactly did I say wrong?"

"You a person of suspicion, these days the spine and the birds of pray have been making sudden unpredictable moves. I cannot simply avert my eyes to such a conspicuous person such as yourself. Giving validity to my suspicions as well it would seem that you have lied. Had you been truly an amnesiac, you do not have a reason to lie? Am I correct?"

His words carried heavy weight. And would most likely determine my fate. "I see, I apologize once again, I have no connection to this thing you call the spine or whatever birds you say. I really just woke up here, in a place I see as unfamiliar teritorry." I bluntly stated, which was what I think would be the best answer to get through to his head.

"It would seem you are telling the truth. Well then, I do apologize for my rudeness. Let me introduce myself. I am Nuvem, the numeral of this place, intima."

"You're throwing out a lot of terms I don't understand you know." I said with a puzzled expression. Anyhow, this person seems like someone with a good character. I think I can trust him for now.

Nuvem let out a wry smile in response to my words. "It really seems like you have no knowledge of this place. Well then, it would probably be best for you to come with me to town. Don't worry I have a place for guests like you to stay if you wish to do so." He scooted over giving space for me on the horse's saddle.

"Alright I'll take you on that offer but could you answer some of my questions on the way?"

"All right I shall answer you as much as possible." He answered politely.

I got up on the horse and galloped together further into the plains.
