Chapter 27 - Waking to Reality

In a flash of pale blue light, the entire class reappeared in their seats—exactly where they had been before entering the Forest of Trials. The transition was seamless, almost surreal, as if no time had passed at all.

[Minion Destroyed: Out of Range from Summoner]

Guess my minions have a certain range where they work.

Each student returned to their assigned spot, the classroom eerily untouched. Silas, still drenched, sat with water dripping from his hair and pooling beneath his chair—yet he didn't seem to mind in the slightest.

Not with that grin stretching across his face, wide and unrepentant—he had his rewards, and that was more than enough.

Oswald let out a long, exhausted sigh before raising his hand and casting another spell with a practiced flick. A shimmer passed over Silas like a warm breeze, instantly drying him off and restoring his clothes to a crisp, clean state. Even the scuffs and dirt were gone, his robe now as pristine as if it had just been issued.

An odd spell, Silas thought, but definitely a useful one.

He uses magic like he has no mana requirement… I'm envious.

Silas stretched slightly, letting out a groan of contentment. Damp robes had clung to him like a second skin, but now that discomfort melted away, replaced with the soft warmth of magically dried fabric.

At the front of the classroom, Oswald scratched his head, clearly unsure how to proceed. His eyes drifted across the students—every single one present and accounted for. Every single one victorious. It was the first time in his teaching career that his class—this class, notorious for mediocrity—had passed the Forest of Trials on the first day.

A genuine achievement.

"I guess… you're all relieved for the day?" Oswald finally muttered, voice uncertain. "I think that's what the other professors do?"

He sat down at his desk with a small thud, a rare grin pulling at the corner of his mouth—tinged not just with pride, but faint disbelief.

The class erupted instantly, cheers and excited chatter exploding like fireworks. Students laughed, stood up from their chairs, exchanged high-fives or plans for how to spend the rest of their suddenly free afternoon.

Oswald let them have their moment—for about five seconds—before he snapped his fingers.

A sound-dampening spell bloomed across the classroom, muting the chaos like someone had pressed a pillow over the volume.

"Keep it quiet. You're disturbing the others," he said, though a faint smirk lingered beneath the words.

Silas didn't waste a moment. He reached down and grabbed his suitcase, neatly placed beside his chair, perfectly untouched. It gleamed with the same soft shimmer of an enchantment spell—school-issued, clearly. Everything had been restored and organized while they were gone.

Man… they really do take care of everything here.

He stood up, slinging the case over his shoulder as he fell in line with the stream of students filtering out the door. Some buzzed about heading to the café, others were already talking study groups and spell refinement in the library.

Silas stepped into the hallway alone. The corridors were quiet—eerily so. Most of the other classes were still in session or deep within the forest, fighting through the same trial his class had just conquered. The silence let his thoughts breathe, echoing softly in his mind as his boots tapped against the polished stone floor.

Transmigrated to another world…

The idea settled over him again like an old coat he was still getting used to.

Which means I have parents now. A family. And a normal life…

The thought struck harder than it should have. Silas gave a brief, uneven grin. Something between amusement and hesitation. He wasn't sure why the idea of going home—to a place he'd never known—felt more terrifying than diving into a wolf lord's maw.

A new life.

A real one.

That weight sat with him.

I guess… I could try hanging out with other people for a while…

His voice was a murmur, mostly to himself, as he continued down the hall—back straight, suitcase in hand, his grin lingering just a bit longer.
