Chapter 7 - The aftermath

Two weeks passed by with Landon going back and forth doing interviews, and Instagram reels, Twitter, and facebook videos promoting "Shape of you." The marketing strategy seemed wired to others, but it was surely working as more and more people started paying attention to the song. And while the attention was reaching its peek he finally pulled the trigger and released "Shape of you."

As the song's popularity grew, Landon's social media following skyrocketed. Fans began to speculate about the song's meaning, dissecting every lyric and melody. The hashtag #ShapeOfYou trended on Twitter, with fans sharing their own interpretations and reactions.

The music industry took notice, with industry insiders and critics praising Landon's innovative marketing strategy. Radio stations and music blogs began to feature "Shape of You," and the song started to climb the charts. Landon's team was ecstatic, and the artist himself was thrilled to see his hard work paying off. But as the song's success grew, so did the pressure to maintain the momentum. Landon knew he had to keep pushing the boundaries of his creativity to stay ahead of the game. As "Shape of You" debuts in the top 10 on major music charts, #ShapeOfYou trends on Twitter, with fans sharing their own interpretations and reactions. Critics praise Landon's innovative marketing strategy, and industry insiders take notice As "Shape of You" continued to gain traction.

On the other hand, Midnight Fusion wasn't doing that well. The boy band couldn't match up to the solo success that their former member Landon was achieving on his own. The other members of Midnight Fusion were struggling to come to terms with their new reality. It was hard to swallow that Landon, the member they had once looked down on and kicked out, was now soaring to new heights as a solo artist. His success was a bitter pill to swallow, especially considering the way they had belittled his talents and doubted his abilities.

Their latest single had underperformed, and the group's morale was at an all-time low. The remaining members, Noah, Julian, Aiden, and Rayn, were trying to move forward, but it was clear that they were seething with resentment and jealousy. They had always thought they were the driving force behind the group's success, and that Landon was just along for the ride. As Landon's solo success continued to soar, the contrast between his career and Midnight Fusion's struggles was becoming increasingly stark. It was a harsh reality that the guys couldn't ignore, and it only added to their frustration and anger.

The irony of the situation was not lost on them. The guy they had once deemed not good enough was now outselling and outperforming them. It was a hard truth to face, and it remained to be seen if Midnight Fusion could find a way to reclaim their former glory or if they would forever be living in the shadow of their former member's success.

"Hey, Noah. You said if we kicked out this guy we'd surely be more successful. But why is he beating us on the charts?" Julian asked with a serious tone "Yeah, you said he got no talent. Now here we're learning that he can not only sing well, but he can produce and write songs as well? Did you know about this?" Said Aiden

Noah's face turned red with defensiveness as he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "I...I didn't know he was that talented," he stammered. "But we made the right decision, he's just lucky." Julian's eyes narrowed. "Lucky? He's been working hard, and it's paying off. Meanwhile, we're struggling to stay relevant. You owe us an explanation, Noah."

Aiden chimed in, his voice laced with sarcasm. "Yeah, because kicking him out was clearly the best decision. I mean, who needs talent in a group, right?" Rayn, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. "Guys, let's not fight about this. We need to focus on our own music and find a way to move forward."

But the tension in the room was palpable, and it was clear that the group's dynamics had shifted. Noah's leadership was being questioned, and the others were no longer willing to follow his lead without a fight.

"You're just mad because you're wrong, Julian," Noah snapped, his temper flaring. "We made the right call, and we'll come out on top." Julian's expression turned cold. "We'll see about that, Noah. We'll see about that."

Just as the tension in the room was reaching a boiling point, the group's manager, Hugh, walked in with a bright smile on his face. "Hey guys, I've been thinking about potential names to feature on our upcoming album, and I think I've got some great ideas." The group turned to Hugh, eager to hear his suggestions. "What did you have in mind?" Julian asked.

Hugh pulled out a notebook and began to flip through the pages. "Well, I was thinking we could get some big-name collaborations. Maybe someone like Justin Bieber, the upcoming Shawn Mendes, , Taylor swift or Even...Landon?"

Noah's face turned beet red with rage as he slammed his fist on the table. "Absolutely not," he growled. "We will not work with that talentless prick . He's the reason we're in this mess in the first place."

The others looked at Noah in surprise, taken aback by his outburst. "Come on, Noah, let's be professional," Hugh said calmly. "Landon is a talented artist, and working with him could be a great opportunity for us."

But Noah was beyond reason. "No way, Hugh. I refuse to work with him. You can't seriously be suggesting this."

Hugh raised an eyebrow. "Actually, I think it's worth considering. Landon's fanbase could really help us out. What do you guys think?"

Julian, Aiden, and Rayn exchanged hesitant glances, but Noah's tantrum had already made it clear that he would not budge. The meeting was quickly devolving into chaos.

"To tell you the truth, Landon is the reason you guys even got this deal. We wanted to revolve the group around him and make him the Henry Styles of this group. But when you told us he quit music we decided to roll the ball on you guys..... you'd be surprised how we were when we heard his still making music amd that you kicked him out of the group. So, he's not the rewain you're in this mess. You're own greed and jealousy is the reason you're here. " Said Hugh

The room fell silent as Hugh's words hung in the air. Noah's face turned an even deeper shade of red, his anger and defensiveness boiling over. "How dare you," he spat, his voice low and menacing. "You're just trying to shift the blame onto us."

But Hugh's expression remained calm and collected. "I'm not shifting blame, Noah. I'm telling you the truth. We saw potential in Landon, and we were willing to invest in him. But you guys made the decision to kick him out, and now you're paying the price."

Julian, Aiden, and Rayn looked at each other, their eyes wide with shock and realization. They had never thought that their manager had seen Landon as the star of the group, and that their own jealousy and greed had led to their downfall. "We were blinded by our own egos," Julian said slowly, his voice filled with regret. "We didn't see what was right in front of us."

Hugh nodded. "Yes, you were. And now you're facing the consequences. But it's not too late to make things right. Working with Landon could be the key to getting your career back on track."

Noah scoffed. "Never going to happen." But the others were starting to consider the possibility. Maybe, just maybe, swallowing their pride and working with Landon was the way forward. The question was, could they put aside their differences and work together?
