Thanks to both teachers, the matters regarding Axel having a connection to the fairy goddess and Vesper allegedly murdering a classmate were settled with no qualms.
Afterwards, the teachers left the members of the board in the room to continue their discussion about other matters and exited the room with the students.
Ivan was still sticking close to Michael as he constantly stole glances at Vesper who couldn't even be bothered to look at him as she led Axel alongside him.
They had walked a little distance away from the hall when Michael turned to Claire.
"You're as fast and efficient as always." He remarked, a subtle smile on his face.
"What? You mean I should have just watched and let him get killed?" Claire retorted as she continued moving forward, not even sparing him a glance.
Michael's expression suddenly darkened as he quickly rushed to catch up to her.
"Hey, you know that's not what I meant."
In truth, that was not what he meant, and Claire was also aware of that. She just didn't like him so no matter what he did, there was always something to nitpick.
"You make it sound like I have something against fairies," Michael said. "I wouldn't have saved this one if I did." He added, pointing at Ivan.
Claire suddenly stopped as she shifted her gaze to look at Ivan who was standing there like a timid little mouse.
"This one?"
The contempt in her expression on her face was something she didn't hide from him. What could he do about it anyway?
He was the cause of everything, she wouldn't have had to go through all this trouble if it weren't for him.
"You should have just let him die." She remarked quite resolutely.
Ivan's expression suddenly turned grim as he felt a shiver run down his spine. Even Michael felt a bit of a chill after hearing the way she said that.
Their current feelings were what Vesper had felt for her after finding out how she handled things, but at this very moment, she felt nothing but admiration for her. Anybody who felt that Ivan deserved to die was worthy of her admiration deserved to die.
Michael didn't say another word and just watched as Claire walked away. They were both equally matched in strength but he would be lying if he said she didn't give him the chills sometimes. Unfortunately, he was a vampire who liked to torture himself.
He returned to the academic building afterwards with Ivan following closely behind him; he was afraid that the moment he left his side, Vesper would do something terrible to him.
Unbeknownst to him, the princess couldn't be bothered with him at the moment.
With everyone else gone, she slowly led Axel to the cafeteria which was empty at the moment.
They didn't get the chance to eat anything earlier as they had to rush to avoid dragging out the situation.
After helping Axel to sit down, she made her way to the counter.
She returned soon afterwards with a tray which contained a piece of sandwich and a glass of milk.
She dropped the food in front of him and was about to help him pick up the sandwich when he reached for it and picked it up himself.
"I can do it myself. Thank you." He smiled before taking a bite from the sandwich.
Vesper was a bit taken aback but she nonetheless nodded before taking a seat in front of him.
As a vampire, she didn't necessarily need to eat the type of food fairies and humans needed to sustain themselves even if there was nothing wrong with eating it.
All she had in her hand at the moment was a pack filled with a red liquid which had a straw attached to it.
She would slowly take sips from her drink as she watched Axel eat.
She looked like she wanted to say something, but as Axel couldn't see at the moment, he naturally couldn't tell. It didn't take long before she couldn't take it anymore.
"Tell me!" She demanded almost slamming her hand on the table.
She only remembered at the last second that Axel's glass of milk was on that table, and so she was able to restrain herself.
"Tell you what?" Axel replied nonchalantly.
"You know what I'm talking about." She retorted, pursing her lips.
At that response, Axel couldn't help but smile; of course, he knew what she was talking about; he also knew she had been holding in that question for quite a while now.
The gist of the matter was that he could see a bit now, but his eyes could only let in enough for him to be able to roughly make out the shapes of objects and their positions.
"Huh, no wonder your gaze seems more normal now," Vesper said, realizing that he was staring directly at her now.
He couldn't see her face but he knew exactly where she was.
"Yes, but since my eyes still can't let in enough light, I still won't be able to see anything once it starts getting dark." He sighed.
"Don't worry, you have me here to take care of you, just buy me a pack of rum candy once you can see again." She said, proudly.
"I don't need you to take care of me." Axel huffed.
"Say that again!" She shot him a piercing glance.
She stretched her hand toward him afterwards, and for a moment there, it looked like she was going to do something at least mildly violent, but in the end, she just ended up knocking off the bread crumbs on his lips.
"You still eat like a child."
"Excuse me, but I'm currently blind you know."
"Good thing it's not permanent or I'll have to look after you for the rest of my life."
At that moment, she leaned closer to him and smiled charmingly. "I don't mind though."
Axel couldn't see her facial expression as she said those words but he felt like choking on the food in his mouth.
She smiled proudly at the effects of her teasing on him as she picked up the tray and cup to return them.
The moment she left, Axel suddenly received a message.
[ You made a positive contribution in keeping yourself alive ]
'Positive contribution? What a fancy way to say eating.'
[ You have been rewarded with instant level up ]
"Huh?"
[ Congratulations you are now at core level 3 ]
[ Making modifications to light element ]
[ Light slash level up ]
[ Light slash: level1~2 ]
[ Light shield level up ]
[ Light shield: level 1~2 ]
[ Physical durability: 29~32 ]
[ Toxin resistance: 20~25 ]
Looking at all of that, Axel felt that it was a bit sad that he never got to test out those light skills at level one to gauge their power at that level to see how it compared to the upgraded. However, an upgrade was always better and very much welcomed.
That said, the most important thing was that he was a core level three fairy now, which meant that he could match up to most of his classmates except for the exceptions like Vesper, who was a core level four.
'But, did I really just breakthrough because I ate breakfast?'
