Synopsis
When lonely writer Lina stumbles into the forbidden woods to save a lost boy, she never expects to find herself face to face with a monstrous wolf—and the boy she once loved. Injured and unconscious, she's taken in by a hidden werewolf pack… and nursed back to health by their brooding Alpha. But when she opens her eyes, the Alpha is none other than Daniel— her high school love whose family vanished overnight years ago. Now he's powerful, cold, and impossibly protective… and he claims she’s been marked. By him. Caught between a deadly pack rivalry, an ancient council that wants her gone, and a bloodline with a dangerous legacy, Lina must choose: run from the monsters of her past, or embrace the power sleeping inside her—and the man who would burn the world to protect her.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

An Alpha's greatest pride, above all else, was his pack.

So was mine until fate intervened and granted me something that I had always feared would take precedence over every other priority in my life.

It was her. The girl I loved. The forbidden human I could never have.

Except I took her anyway.

I gave her a way out before and it nearly killed me- until we crossed paths again and my wolf could not rest without claiming our true mate. Even if she was the daughter of our worst enemy.

Now I understand the meaning of 'you reap what you sow', I have no one but myself to blame for how things turned out.

My mate is pressed against me, close enough that her breath whispers over my skin and my nostrils flare with her all-consuming scent, rendering me powerless. Her lovely long hair frames her face, and the corners of her lovely blood-red lips quirk upwards. She's a vision to behold, until her eyes come into view.

They're shining with an unnatural gleam- not her usual mischievous look, but something dark and sinister.

Not human.

But not wolf either.

Despite our proximity, her body isn't making contact with mine with the purpose of lovemaking- it's for death.

As sharp and real as the dagger she places over my chest, the edge of the blade practically scratching my skin as I feel droplets of blood travel down my stomach.

Wolf or not, a knife to the heart kills us all the same way.

Her hand moves then and I can clearly see the glint of her diamond ring as it catches the moonlight streaming in from the window. The same ring I wore, as her wedded mate.

Till death do us part has a completely different ring to it now and I close my eyes.

Prepared to meet my death- at the hands of my beloved wife.

I had driven her to this, and so I was prepared to face the consequences.

Closing my eyes, I wait.

For the night to end- for my Luna to make a choice; her violence or mine?
