Chapter 45 - Golden Dragon Spear

When Wang Qiu'er stopped moving and looked at Huo Yuhao again, there was a noticeable trace of seriousness in her expression. She extended one hand forward into the air. There was nothing in front of her initially, but as she grabbed forward, a sudden, blinding golden light burst out. Looking closely, one could see within the golden glow a spear-shaped object, nearly four meters long.

From a distance, Huo Yuhao took in everything with a watchful gaze. Though he didn't know what that golden light contained, even at a distance of several dozen meters, the object emitted an intense sense of danger. Clearly, whatever it was, it was anything but ordinary.

Still, Huo Yuhao didn't feel much pressure. He had never intended to win this match. As the saying goes, "The tree that stands out in the forest is the first to be blown down by the wind." After defeating two three-ringed Soul Elders in a row, he had already drawn plenty of attention. To beat Wang Qiu'er, who was stronger than Dai Huabin, would only invite even more. And Huo Yuhao understood this principle well, so he'd already planned to intentionally lose this match.

So, when he saw Wang Qiu'er seemingly pulling out a secret weapon, he didn't panic but instead stared at the golden glow with curiosity.

As the golden light faded, it finally became clear. In Wang Qiu'er's hand was a spear nearly four meters long, made entirely of pure gold. Its double-tipped blade shimmered with a crystalline sharpness, and coiled around the shaft was a vague, yet fierce-looking dragon-shaped pattern.

The Golden Dragon Spear—as expected. By all rights, this weapon should have been sealed within the God Realm's forbidden zone. Yet here it was in Wang Qiu'er's hands. One had to admit, Lord God-King really did love playing tricks.

Huo Yuhao's gaze darkened. He was thoroughly impressed by that old bastard. Even as a god-king, the scheming never stopped—how disgraceful.

"Hmm, this spear is quite interesting."

Du Weilun let out a soft hum. From the start of the match, he had been standing off to the side of the arena, but every movement in the match was clearly visible to his discerning eyes. And even with his eyesight, he couldn't make out the origins of this spear. It was clearly a weapon made for killing, yet it gave off a strange aura of life—mixed with some indescribable, mysterious presence.

"Weird, really weird."Du Weilun muttered to himself, eyes fixed on the golden spear—but in the end, he could make no discovery.

Huo Yuhao found his thoughts drifting, but Wang Qiu'er gave him no time to ponder. With a flick of the spear in her hand, countless golden afterimages surged toward Huo Yuhao like a golden tide.

Huo Yuhao's expression shifted. He dodged in a flickering blur, cursing inwardly. The Golden Dragon Spear's power was clearly no joke—he didn't even want to touch it.

From afar, Xiao Xiao panicked as she saw Huo Yuhao being pushed onto the back foot. She immediately unleashed her full power.

Across from her, Lu Qingming held an ancient, black book in one hand. Without any visible motion from him, the book opened by itself. As the pages turned, streaks of black light shot out, transforming into a series of bizarre beasts. There was a massive serpent with wings on its back, a small rat covered in scales, and a lizard dragging a tail like a durian. None of them looked like normal creatures. Yet they all rushed in the same direction—some flying, some charging on all fours.

Their destination: three black cauldrons hovering several meters above the ground. Dozens of strange beasts surrounded them, spewing green flames or launching themselves headfirst at the cauldrons. Yet no matter how they attacked, the three cauldrons remained untouched. Occasionally, they would strike downward in rotation, and each time one fell, a beast would vanish—not in gore, but as a burst of black mist.

Boom!

A muffled sound rang out. When one beast, resembling a pangolin, was crushed, only three lonely creatures remained. Just then, the snake, rat, and lizard-beasts from Lu Qingming's book arrived to join them, launching yet another round of chaotic attacks against the three cauldrons.

At this moment, the three cauldrons converged into one, merging in a flash of black light. Now, only a single large cauldron remained.

Faced with the onslaught of wild attacks, the black cauldron didn't retreat—instead, it charged headlong into the swarm of beasts. The creatures, like mindless puppets, made no effort to evade and continued attacking.

Flames, ice spikes, and random boulders rained down upon the cauldron. But they barely made a dent. The cauldron only paused momentarily, flashed with black light, then surged forward again.

Boom.

Another heavy explosion. Two more beasts burst into black mist, completely overpowered. And it didn't stop there—the black cauldron charged like a runaway bull, crushing one beast after another into clouds of black smoke. In just two breaths' time, not a single creature remained on the battlefield.

Lu Qingming turned pale. Though those beasts were only soul power constructs and their destruction didn't hurt him directly, losing them so quickly was far beyond his expectations. His expression turned grim. Compared to Xiao Xiao's earlier offensive, this was like a power-up on steroids.

As they say, "Kick them while they're down." Naturally, Xiao Xiao gave him no time to breathe. She pointed her slender finger forward a few times, and the black cauldron immediately made a sharp turn and charged straight at Lu Qingming, its speed so fast it caused a whistling wind.

Lu Qingming's face changed. A flash of yellow light surged from his body as he activated his second soul ring. Three more streaks of dark light shot from his book, transforming into three five-meter-tall giant apes—muscular, fierce-faced, and fanged. Just sensing their aura revealed they were far stronger than the previous beasts.

At that moment, the black cauldron arrived. The leading ape let out a strange roar and reached out with both hands to grab it, clearly intending to snatch it out of the air. Though large, the cauldron still seemed small before the towering ape, and for a brief moment, as it was caught, it appeared to be stopped.

Lu Qingming narrowed his eyes. Something didn't feel right.

Sure enough, a swirl of black light ran across the cauldron—and the ape holding it exploded into black mist. Two more muffled booms followed—the other two apes suffered the same fate.

Lu Qingming turned even paler, as if suffering backlash. But when he saw the cauldron charging at him directly, his expression truly changed. With his second soul skill broken, he didn't have time to cast another. The black cauldron was right in front of him—no room to dodge.
