Chapter 27 - Challenging the Mad Dogs

Child of Prophecy

Chapter 27

"Oh my God, is there any special occasion today?" Ayesha exclaimed, looking at the dining table.

The entire table was filled with plates filled to the brim with different dishes, while Jasmine was bringing even more plates from the kitchen, her cheeks dusted white with flour and her white apron turned into a rainbow due to the colors of different dishes on it.

Suddenly, something passed by Ayesha like a flash; her hair flew over her face due to the air that followed the figure. "You shouldn't ask stupid questions like that," Tushar said, his mouth full of food and a plate in front of him already empty.

"Slow down, fatty, nobody's going to take it from you," Ayesha replied, sighing and holding her forehead.

"You asked if there's a special occasion. There is one. Our youngest teammate finally became an awakener," Jasmine replied, putting down the plates on the table, while Shreya—who was helping her with the cooking—wiped her face.

"So our handsome Aksh finally became an awakener!" Ayesha clapped in excitement.

"He did it in just five days after joining the academy. He's a disciplined and hardworking young guy," Aman said with a faint smile on his face, his hands folded in acknowledgment as he sat across from Tushar at the dining table.

"But w-why is our guest of honor… gulp gulp… for whom this feast is organized… gulp… looking like that?" Tushar asked between gulps of food, using both hands as he looked toward the far corner of the table.

"Eat before you speak, idiot. You're spilling your food on me," Aman grumbled, wiping his face.

At the far corner of the table, Aksh was sitting with his head down on the table, his arms covered in bruises. "It was all because of your inhumane captain. He beat Aksh the entire day with the excuse of settling his Tejas," Jasmine replied, walking toward Aksh.

"Because that bastard ate a month's worth of Tejavrittas pills in just three days and was asking for more. And I didn't beat him—I was just training him," Arihant replied, entering the hall and sitting beside Aman.

"We all know you well, Captain. You definitely beat him because you can't buy expensive liquor this month anymore," a sleepy voice came from under the table.

"Do you want me to settle your Tejas as well, huh Rudra?" Arihant replied, throwing a kick under the table.

"Gawk—no-no, I was just kidding! I know you did it for his own good," Rudra's voice came out, full of pain and fear.

"Aksh, get up, the dinner is getting cold," Jasmine called, leaning closer to the right side of Aksh.

"Yes Aksh, you should eat food so you can become stronger," Avni's voice followed as she leaned to the left of Aksh.

He slowly got up and looked upward. Two beautiful girls were looking at him, their faces close to his, just at ear's length.

"Are you too tired to eat? Should I feed you myself?" Jasmine said, holding a spoonful of rice in her hands.

"I-I will also feed you," Avni followed in determination.

"Wha—what the hell?" Aksh's face turned red. He suddenly moved backward and fell down from the chair.

"Oh no, are you not feeling well, Aksh? Did that bastard beat you this badly?" Jasmine asked, quickly offering her hand to Aksh to help him stand up. Aksh got up without taking her hand.

"I'm fine, and—and you don't need to feed me. I can eat by myself. And same for you, Avni," Aksh replied, his face still red and eyes fixed on the table.

"What a lucky guy. Dammit," Rudra said, peeking from under the table and clenching the tablecloth in his teeth.

"Look at his face, the kid is embarrassed just by looking at the girls from a little closer" Arihant whispered to Aman, Tushar and Rudra. "Who would've guessed that gutsy Aksh would be this shy in front of girls," Tushar giggled.

"I want to fight all of you," Aksh announced and a silence followed. Everyone looked at him as he sat down on the chair again.

"Aksh they were just kidding. There is no need to fight over something like this," Jasmine replied concerned. "Yes Aksh, friends shouldn't fight," Avni said clenching her little fists.

"What are you guys talking about, I was asking to fight all of you to further hone my skills. And I also want to gain experience in a dynamic fight where everyone uses different kind if skills," Aksh replied ,poking the food in his plate with a spoon.

"Oh so that's what you were trying to say. I'm sorry for jumping to conclusion," Jasmine replied punching her head lightly and blinking. "yeah I'm sorry too. Tehe," Avni replied copying Jasmine.

"Finally you said it. I also wanted to fight you but was hesitant to ask you because it would like I'm bullying my juniors which is against the rules," Aman replied sipping juice from a glass.

"I will also fight you as well if you give me something to eat," Tushar said drinking water from a jug.

"I also love to fight you as well and while I'm at it I will show you that sword is better than a trident" Shreya said, finally sitting down getting free from kitchen's work.

"Since I'm already bored and this does seem like fun so I'll join as well" Rudra said while slipping a plate below the table.

"Oy brat, you can lose to anyone here but if you lost to that arrogant girl that just said swords are better than trident then you are a dead meat," the voice inside his mind echoed. Before Aksh could reply another voice interrupted.

"Aksh, will you also fight this beautiful big sister of yours?" Ayesha said reaching Aksh and standing behind his chair. Her melons casted a shadow on Aksh's face. He looked upward but can't even see her face due to those huge pair of mountains in the way.

"She is right about one thing. She is… definitely big," Tushar replied casually while eating food. Aman looked at him in disbelief as he slipped a spoon from his hand in shock. Water spit out from Arihant's mouth hearing Tushar's casual remark.

"What did you just say, you pig?" Ayesha replied leaning forward in anger but her melons directly landed on Aksh's face unknowingly.

"Have you looked into the mirror yourself before calling me big. You are such a stupid and rude bastard who don't even know what you shouldn't call a lady," She began arguing with Tushar as her melons get continuously rubbed on Aksh's face.

"Um, excuse me Ayesha… I think you should let the kid breath or he is gonna suffocate like that" Arihant said hesitantly. Ayesha looked down and saw struggling Aksh for breath. She immediately moved backward finally setting Aksh free. "Oh, I'm sorry Aksh I didn't realise.."

"That's what I said, she is big." Tushar threws another casual remark. Ayesha snapped and launched towards Tushar in anger. Tushar quickly grabbed a plate and ran and Ayesha followed behind closely meanwhile Aksh was already unconscious, His face red as tomato, his eyes circling as he mumbled. " S-So big... a-and heavy…"
