Chapter 16 - Chapter 31 and 32

(Wild)

Melanie pov

"Deep thumping music fills my ears as I enter the club with Stacey and the other orchestra members. There are 15 of us. Not all members join the celebration because some of them

are in their final year, hence already busy with juggling music activities and their final projects. But this is quite a crowd already. It's impossible to fit all the section members in a club already jammed with people.

"Wow. What a shift of music genre," Andrew jokes, making some of us laugh.

"It doesn't hurt to experience a piece of something else other than that of Bach and Frans Liszt." Henry smirks at their concertmaster, as if knowing that those composers are Andrew's favourites.

We walk toward the table, catching people's attention. Maybe most of them are wondering why we appear too formal for this Saturday night's out. Little do they know that we're all dressed up for a classical concert.

I follow the pack, giggling beside Stacey with my arms linked to hers. But then, something catches my attention.

Something that makes my heart almost stop beating and my breath catch in my throat.

There at one of the tables sit Vaughn and his friends. I suppose that they are his football buddies, because they look like one with those athletic figures and powerful laughter roaring through the crowd. They are drinking beers and laughing, definitely enjoying the night.

And definitely enjoying the company they have brought along with them. The cheerleaders.

It's obvious because the girls are still in their cheerleading outfits.

Stacey gasps as she notices their picture-perfect existence. She quickly drags me toward the table to sit down with the orchestra team before I humiliate myself from gawking at the sight of Vaughn surrounded by girls.

I sit down like I'm being hypnotized, but my eyes don't leave him as one of the girls pecks him on the cheek. Suddenly, I feel dizzy and nauseated. Vaughn, however, seems unfazed by that gesture as he keeps talking to the guys. He looks like he's enjoying the moment too.

And he definitely looks like he doesn't notice our existence. Or doesn't want to notice, since the first guess is highly unlikely due to the fact that we've made such an eyecatching entrance.

Henry whistles. "I heard the cheer team just won a competition today. They must be celebrating it."

His voice snaps me out of my thoughts, and I quickly avert my eyes from Vaughn.

Pull yourself together, Melanie.

What a dramatic coincidence. It's ironic how I'm actually having a night out to forget about him but then he keeps popping up in front of me.

Stacey squeezes my thigh softly, like she's assuring me that everything will be just fine. I doubt it, anyway.

Andrew watches the cheerleaders with drool on his face, and Henry laughs at his expression.

The girls in the orchestra team laugh too. "Stop staring," one of them says. "They are out of your league, sweety."

But I notice that some girls from our side are also ogling the football players. Especially Vaughn.

"Yeah, right. He's out of your league too, girls," Andrew snaps back with a wiçked smirk.

One of them scoffs in annoyance. "Don't worry. I'm fully aware that he is occupied at the moment."

Just like what she said, one of the cheerleaders who has a long honey brown hair and a body to dîe for climbs onto Vaughn's lap and whispers something in his ear, making a smile form on his lips even though he's not looking at her.

I feel my heart breaking from that sight. My eyes burn as I see her touching his cheek to make him face her which he gladly does before he puts his hands on her back. Next thing I know is that I'm wondering why the fvck they're not shoving their tongues into each other's already with how close their bodies are pressed against each other. Just kîll me already.

What happens to the guy who was cold and distant to girls? What happens to the one who everyone used to say was unavailable?

Everything around me feels like a blur. I don't even know what the people next to me are talking about. I just catch a few words about ordering some drinks.

Henry's laughter shifts my attention to the table, which apparently is now filled with tequilas. "So how about some drinking game?" he challenges his team.

Without thinking further, I take one of the shots and bottoms up. All eyes from this table are automatically on me. I heard faint gasps as I place the glass back on the table with a loud thud. Wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, I swallow the bitter taste of the drink. I'm never used to drinking, but strangely, it feels nothing, perhaps because I feel much more bitter inside.

"Wow. That's some spirit you got, Melanie," Andrew Says.

Stacey squeezes my thigh firmly and shoots me a warning look, but I shake my head.

"I'm okay," I lie. I'm not okay. Moreover, Vaughn's attention is still not shifted to me. No matter what I do, he won't care anymore. Is he going to keep ignoring me?

Wow. I feel like a bîtch. This is exactly how I made him feel when I chose to ignore him.

By the time I finish my second shot, I already feel like my body is on fire.

"Hey, beautiful," a voice snaps me out of my zone, and I look up to see a man who looks like he's in the mid-40s smiling charmingly at me. His sky blue eyes and mysterious aura hold my attention. "Care to dance?" he asks.

Is it just me, or does he look like Bradley

Cooper? Whatever. I don't care if he's way older than me as long as he looks like one. Maybe the drink has got me hallucinating.

"Sure." I smile, making him smirk. When I stand up and face the orchestra team, I catch a sight that's quite amusing. It seems like I've pressed a button on a remote that made all of their jaws drop.

"Melanie," Stacey whisper shouts at me with a warning look.

Selena Gomez's song 'Dance Again' is played, and I can't help but feel even hotter, like I can do something wild. Bradley Cooper's twin pulls me closer to his chest as we begin to dance to the song. His hands roam my back before trailing the curves on my hips, and I move with him synchronically.

I should have caught their attention, right? I'm talking about those football jocks with their shiny girl toys. There's no way that I haven't caught their attention, because I even feel like all the eyes in the club are on me now.

I move my hips and continue dancing with the older man sensually, teasing him with provocative moves. It doesn't take a lot of effort, simply just using my hips and throwing dirty looks here and there. I never knew that I could move like this. The drink has definitely affected me in a bad way. It burns me and makes the result of Vaughn's Effect ten times stronger on my body. I feel strong shît going crazy inside me. I feel desperate. Frustrated. Angry. Hôrny. Excited. Wild. Wrecked. Torn. Rebellious.

"Damn. You're so hot," the man whispers in my ear, his voice sounding like he can't wait to handcuff me on his bed. When I look at his face, I immediately see the desire burning in his eyes. I know that I'm tottering on dàngerous ground here, but I can't help but feel even more empowered.

I turn my body around, and now my a$$ is pressed on his thigh. | continue swinging my hips and dance like I need to breathe. "You know, that move is not legal unless you're in a strip club or in my bed," he hisses, lust laced in his voice as he takes a deep smell of my bare shoulder like I'm a drug. I gasp when the hard bulk under his pants is pressed against my a$s. This somehow makes me alert.

A quick glance at the popular table makes me notice that I definitely have their attention. The jocks and the girls are staring at me. Especially the jocks, who are open-mouthed, wondering what the hell their former captain's sister is doing right now.

But Vaughn is nowhere in sight. Where the hell is that guy?

I'm about to turn around to face my dance partner when the warmth of his body suddenly turns into nothing but cold air.

My eyes widen in shock as I find Vaughn gripping his collar, furiously enough to make me think that he can choke the poor man to dèath. Vaughn's jaw tightens before he throws the man harshly, making him smack the wall as people's screams fill the air.
