[ Chapter XVII (17): "ABUSE OF SUPERPOWERS" ]
[ UNDEAD SUMMON HAS RESPAWN ]
The killed Formica Musco, for it no time has passed since 15 minutes ago. As it then immediately went on alert mode, about to bite any and all monsters that tries on trampling it. About to jump whoever is in front, the youngest of the Undead paused...
Seemingly realizing something as it then tilts its head to the side. In curiosity it looks around and realizes there is no Formica Musco nearby, there is, but they are allies— 5 of them, them and with his master seemingly eating something delicious...
Licking its metaphorical lips, the Ant then approached its master and kin who was eating something. At this point, they also noticed it approaching which made them give space.
[ "Huh, so that's how they respawn." ]
Alastor who's sitting on a log grins to himself in seeing his Undead respawn. Apparently just like in games, they respawn. Him also, but his is different, he goes back in time. But for his Undead they don't, time seems to move on as it is with them appearing out somewhere nearby when the time is up.
The killed Formica Musco Undead is such proof, it died 15 minutes ago exactly, with it then spawning 15 minutes later not knowing where it is. Nonetheless, at least it was able to spawn early and join in the celebrations.
Having spent 1/10th of his System Credits, Alastor bought for himself cooked meat and such. For the Undead Ants on the other hand, they do like meat, but not so much as sugary infested foods like honey. So in turn he bought chocolates, cubes of sugars, skittles, and anything that a diabetic patient would fear.
He doesn't even know if they require food like him, they are Undead after all. Undead means something that isn't alive, but also not death. About 50% 50%. It includes Zombies, Vampires, Ghouls and other foul monsters that border between life and death.
In most scenarios they require sustenance, for Zombies depending on the version it may be none at all, or sunlight. Vampires in some cases need blood, some just want blood. Ghouls... He doesn't really know so much about them with their conflicting lore and interpretation in popular media.
So the Undead from his knowledge borderlines between needing sustenance, or not at all. But from what he had witnessed, perhaps the Ants just really love sweets. Enchanced senses after all, probably retained something when they were still alive. That being their appetite that is akin to that of a Saiyan, or an endless pit.
Not like he hates it, he finds it funny, cute, and it brings him many experiences after all which increases his status.
Causing his body to be stronger, and for his brain to think more clearly. That is the benefit they give, with them not asking for anything in return.
[ "Eat more." ] So he quite likes these guys, especially with the surroundings he now found himself in is chaotic. Too many things wanting to kill him, too many things that are stronger and more dangerous than him. All could kill him, if he got unlucky.
So at the moment he needs to eat his full, energize, level-up through his cheat codes and motivate them to continue moving forward. Not like they hate it though, they actively hunt for any and all Honey Larvae and bugs... But they still prefer the former.
From his knowledge and from what he has seen, these things, this Undead Ants really does love sweets... So much so that they didn't stop eating... For a full 45+ minutes at that, murdering about 1,000 baby Honey Larvae without remorse, with glee actually.
About to bite into his steak using his slightly dirty fingers, one with dirt under his nails. Alastor was stopped when he noticed something not so far away... He looked closely, leaned in and realized that... [ "Fuck..." ]
That those things are a group of hostiles. A group of birds actually, crows if he didn't get it wrong. Looking at him all of them perched on the trees, about 9 of them and counting...
This being similar to that group of crows— a murder he had spotted earlier, as they unlike normal birds are much bigger, more ferocious, more hungry and have more heads...
Which could plausibly mean more brains, i.e. more intelligence and that is not a great thing. For Alastor who doesn't have the strength of a rhino, speed or a cheetah, or even senses of ants.
He only has intelligence on him... And if something rivals that... Then where the fuck is this advantage at then? He'll have none, then he'll get killed. Then problems would arise even before he could reach civilization and have a carefree life... That's a no go.
[ CORVUS POLYCEPHALUS LVL. 7 ]
[ HOSTILE ]
Seeing the levels on top of those birds heads and the alignment, he paused mid-eating before then motioning for his Undead to get on standby.
That seemingly not needed at all as they reacted much faster than him, ready to squabble up with their breaths emitting sweets that could cause type II diabetes to anyone that would inhale it.
Ready to eat more... Seeing this opportunity the Corvus above get in closer, poaching on the trees all-around Alastor and his group. Way too high for any of the Ants to reach, but also close enough for them to see. Intimidation of some sorts.
The youngest of the Ants seeing the opportunity, then climbed on one of the trees as the other Ants watched, protecting their master. Their master who's mumbling something to himself, [ "Oh yeah, t-they can climb." ] He forgot that one ability of the Ants, as he then grabs his Sword and Shield, ready for a good fight.
A good fight that is about to happen as the youngest of the Undead was about to reach for the Corvus. It paused when the bird clawed at it, before then flying away to another tree; leaving the Ant alone in the tree. [ "..." ]
The remaining 5 Undead Ants on the ground, including Alastor ready themselves as they spotted that there is about 12 Corvus up-up above. Which isn't a great thing.
Though Alastor is Lvl. 14, his Undeads are at Lvl. 13, Lvl. 12, Lvl. 8, Lvl. 6, and Lvl. 2... The group of Corvus on the other hand has levels up to about 6 to 10. Flight advantage, and maneuvering advantage against the sitting ducks which is Alastor's group.
To be fair, he doesn't want to get into this fight. Or even go against the birds, but he has no choice. He has to fight, for his half-eaten steak and for his protection. Because damn hell he isn't sure if he could outrun these things.
They are natural flyers who grew up in this world wherein Alastor didn't— he is technically an alien. And if he did run, then wouldn't his Undead Ants be picked one-by-one, ganged and murdered, with him being the last on the minute. If not the first.
He does want that, he doesn't want anything with that. He could see the hunger in those birds dark blood red eyes, and he doesn't want any part of it. Even if he wants to flee, he can't, and is forced to fight with what little power he has.
He looked up and spotted his lowest leveled Ant about to jump into another tree, before then getting punched in the air by another bird above; [ "Hey, get the fuck down ther- nevermind." ]
Warning it, he then paused when he realized the Ant landed with a thud on the grass below, not dead, just badly damaged. Perhaps traumatized, but seeing its anger towards the Ants, probably feeling humiliated. Still alive though, surprisingly.
The youngest in level wise seems to be a hot-headed type of Ant, which surprised Alastor because that isn't how the other Ants act.
Yes, though they sometimes act like that when seeing hostile, they do control it and think more on as a group, not individually...
Not this one Ant though. It just died, and is ready to die again. As it again tries climbing on the tree where a Corvus could be seen; what a dedicated Ant, seemingly on a mission.
Never one to give up, or even let down others.
Alastor who's seeing this looks on proud, but also panicked as he scratched his head in annoyance. His Shield hitting his head in turn. He doesn't know if he should laugh or be confused... After deciding about it, he then let the Ant continue on... [ "Fuck it." ]
He noticed one of the birds caw at him before then diving straight up, the others following suit as they barrage on him like bullets. No way in hell Alastor would survive this, so as a wiseman once said; to win fights, you must first fuckin' survive.
As he then dives on the grass below. His shield covering his head and torso, with it big enough for him to not be badly mangled. His foot showing, but he swore his oxford style shoes leather is enough for that to fight back... Though tattered, he has hopes.
As he didn't fight, and just needed to stall for time. For his Undead to pick them all up one-by-one. And one-by-one they did, as they form a circular shield around him, tanking in most of the damage, with nothing but a singular Corvus being able to hit on him; [ "T-that hurts, f-fuck you!" ]
He looked down and noticed one biting his legs, trying to kick it using his other leg, Alastor wasn't able to hit it at all as it dodged from left-to-right, right-to-left. Dodge and weave.
As a last resort, he was about to stab the thing using his Sword. But it seems he didn't have too, as one of the Undead Ants noticed this and immediately tackled the Corvus into the ground; killing it.
[ CORVUS POLYCEPHALUS LVL. 8 KILLED BY UNDEAD SUMMON ]
[ +43 EXPERIENCE TO PLAYER ]
[ +45 EXPERIENCE TO UNDEAD SUMMON ]
[ "Let's go!" ] He couldn't help but cheer as the Corvus gets mutilated by his Undead, his face patriotic in some senses, [ "Y-yes!" ]
It was quite funny in how, these things also give great experiences. Which made Alastor cheer more, [ "Go, Ants!" ] With the Ants motivated, and sometimes damaged, they went on and on and killed any and all Corvus they could; and in no time, most of the birds were killed, the remaining fleeing away as they came.
It was that easy... With Alastor finally being able to level-up and reach the long awaited Lvl. 15. [ "Hell yeah!" ]
