Facing the young policeman's gaze, Chu Ge nodded, "I did it."
"Alright, then please come with me to the station to assist with the investigation." Seeing Chu Ge admit it, the young policeman said sternly, taking out handcuffs as he spoke.
Seeing this situation, Qin Ruoying immediately panicked and jumped in front of Chu Ge, her eyebrows standing on end as she questioned him.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing? On what grounds are you arresting my brother-in-law? Let me tell you, you're being paid with our taxpayer money, so you must uphold justice for us. Do you even know why my brother-in-law hit them? You're just arresting people without asking anything? Do you believe I'll report you?"
The young policeman was momentarily speechless at Qin Ruoying's outburst. He was used to questioning others, but nobody had ever pointed at his nose like this before.
"I know how to handle a case. Please step aside and do not obstruct me from performing my duty."
"What if I don't?"
Qin Ruoying glanced at the shiny handcuffs, took another step toward the young policeman, and asked confrontationally.
Qin Ruojing stood on the side, frowning, and took out her phone once again.
"Then I'm sorry, but you will also..."
The young policeman's words were cut off when his eyes suddenly focused. He snapped his legs together and saluted respectfully in the direction behind Qin Ruoying.
At the same time, Qin Ruojing, who had just taken out her phone, put it back, and the anxiety on her pretty face eased.
"What do you mean by 'sorry'? Comrade, what do you intend to do with my daughter?" Qin Yan's voice came from behind, causing Qin Ruoying to turn her head immediately, a smile spreading across her face.
"Dad, why are you just arriving?"
Ignoring Qin Ruoying's words, Qin Yan strode to face the young policeman.
"Qin, Brother Qin? Is this your daughter?" Although Qin Yan didn't say anything more, the young policeman felt an overwhelming pressure as if a mountain was approaching, making him stammer with reverence.
He didn't recognize Qin Ruojing or Qin Ruoying, but the name "Iron-Faced Qin Yan" was well-known to him. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Qin Yan's heroic deeds partly influenced his decision to become a policeman.
"Yes, but that's not the point. If she did anything illegal, I would arrest her just the same. Now that I'm here, you can go back to your work, assuming you don't doubt my integrity."
"Yes!"
The young policeman saluted Qin Yan once more and turned to leave briskly.
It's a joke; if he couldn't trust Qin Yan's integrity and professional ethics, there wouldn't be anything in the world worth his trust.
As he left, the young policeman gave Chu Ge a curious glance, wondering how he knocked out four burly men without a scratch.
"Comrade, could you please explain what just happened?"
Qin Yan didn't question Chu Ge or his daughters but turned his attention to the store's sales clerk.
"Well, it went like this..."
The sales clerk recounted the entire incident in detail, and during this time, the four stout men whom Chu Ge had floored also came over.
After hearing the whole story, Qin Yan nodded, unsmiling as he approached Liu Dawang and the four strong men to inspect their injuries.
When Qin Yan saw the second person, a flash of astonishment crossed his eyes, and by the time he examined all five men's injuries, he remained expressionless on the surface, but internally, he was very surprised.
"You, come here for a moment."
"Yes."
Seeing their father call Chu Ge to the stairwell with a stern face, the Qin sisters felt a sense of anxiety and worry, though neither approached, each concerned about something different.
Qin Ruojing feared that this incident would leave a bad impression on her father, leading him to oppose their romantic relationship.
Qin Ruoying worried whether her father might arrest Chu Ge, holding him accountable for any criminal charges. As Qin Yan's daughter, she had every reason to believe that, given her father's character, he would indeed act with such impartiality.
Unfortunately, because of the distance, they couldn't hear the conversation between Chu Ge and Qin Yan at all.
"Xiao Chu, have you practiced?" Qin Yan pulled Chu Ge to the side and began to ask, his face stern but his tone still somewhat calm.
"Yeah, just a little." Facing Qin Yan, Chu Ge admitted it readily. He couldn't believe this veteran detective wouldn't notice, so instead of hiding it, he decided to be straightforward.
"Just a little? Besides that Liu Dawang taking an extra hit, five people, all defeated with one strike, all kicked in the same spot, all breaking two ribs. You sure are ruthless, aren't you?"
Chu Ge stayed silent, uncertain of Qin Yan's current thoughts. Still, his expression remained calm and composed because he didn't feel he had done anything wrong.
"Actually, I think you weren't ruthless enough. If it were me, I'd break these punks' ribs straight away. Daring to target Bao Xiaomi at my daughter makes just two broken ribs too lenient for them!"
After interacting yesterday, Qin Yan was already quite satisfied with Chu Ge. Now, seeing how he acted and the attitude he showed, Qin Yan was even more pleased. Seeing no one around, he dropped his stern demeanor, lowered his voice for a moment, patted Chu Ge's shoulder with a smile that seemed to say, "Well done!"
Chu Ge was momentarily stunned; he hadn't expected Qin Yan to say such a thing. He then laughed, scratched his head, and joked, "How about I go back and give another kick?"
"You rascal, are you trying to get your father-in-law fired? If you make a move in front of me again and I don't intervene, then my days as a detective are over! Alright, you don't need to worry about the rest, just go have fun with Ruojing and Ruoying."
Chu Ge laughed, "Well then, I'll trouble you, Uncle."
The two shared a smile and walked out of the stairway. As soon as they stepped outside, Qin Yan's face returned to its stern and serious look, while Chu Ge lowered his head, playing the part of someone who had just been reprimanded.
Just looking at this scene, who would have thought that this older and younger man were just having a pleasant chat?
As Chu Ge left with the Qin sisters, Liu Dawang, though filled with resentment and anger, acknowledged that being easily brought down by someone who could defeat his four bodyguards wasn't exactly an undeserved fate.
And when he discovered that the veteran detective with him was none other than the infamous "Ironface Qin Yan" from the detective squad, his heart went ice-cold. Having just been kicked by Qin Ruoying, he already felt pain. Now he felt even more so.
"Damn it! If I had known those sisters were Qin Yan's daughters, I'd have never dared to harass them, even in a million years! What a fool I am, a complete fool!"
Watching Chu Ge and the Qin sisters leave, Liu Dawang could only sigh in sadness.
"Brother-in-law, what did my dad just say to you?" As soon as they distanced themselves a bit from Qin Yan, Qin Ruoying couldn't hold back her curiosity and asked Chu Ge.
Although Qin Ruojing didn't speak, when her sister asked the question, she paused slightly and perked up her ears, showing she was very interested in this matter as well.
Qin Ruoying asked several times, but Chu Ge just smiled and didn't reply. It wasn't until she pestered him relentlessly that he finally laughed and said, "Would you believe me if I said he praised me for fighting well?"
"Tch, if you don't want to tell, then don't. I know my dad well enough." Qin Ruoying felt Chu Ge was obviously brushing her off and pouted slightly in dissatisfaction.
Chu Ge knew Qin Ruoying wouldn't believe him and gave a slight smile, not saying anything more.
Running into an idiot like Liu Dawang was just a minor incident. Soon enough, Qin Ruoying put the brief unpleasantness behind her. When she stepped into another women's clothing store, her attention immediately shifted to the beautiful clothes.
Usually, when most girls go shopping for clothes, whether they end up buying anything or not, they definitely want to try things on for the experience. Qin Ruoying was no exception. After spotting a few pieces she liked, she joyfully began trying them on.
And every time Qin Ruoying came out of the fitting room wearing different clothes, Chu Ge found himself pleasantly surprised. Unlike Qin Ruojing's perfunctory "it's fine," "not bad," "pretty good," he would genuinely express his admiration and offer a few opinions and suggestions each time.
His actions only made Qin Ruoying happier. Eventually, she stopped asking her sister and, after changing outfits, would eagerly look to Chu Ge for his feedback.
When they left the store, Qin Ruoying was still beaming with excitement. If not for her sister being nearby, she might have given Chu Ge a peck.
"Whew! That was so much fun! Brother-in-law, you're amazing; I never expected you to have so many sharp and unique insights about fashion. Having you accompany me shopping was the smartest decision I've made all year!"
Indeed, that was how Qin Ruoying felt. Compared to shopping alone with her sister, having Chu Ge around made it much more entertaining. As they say, a woman dresses up for those she admires. Having someone who appreciates her outfits makes her feel more satisfied and accomplished.
Chu Ge, carrying Qin Ruoying's purchases, smiled, "Oh, I'm just saying whatever comes to mind. You're really giving me too much credit, Xiao Ying. It's because you're already beautiful with a great figure, a natural clothes hanger. Any outfit on you would drive men crazy and make women jealous."
Hearing this, Qin Ruoying burst into laughter as she turned her gaze to Qin Ruojing, saying, "Sis, listen to how skillfully brother-in-law speaks! How did you get so lucky to meet such a wonderful man who can cook and has such taste? Ah, why don't I have your good fortune?"
Qin Ruojing rolled her eyes at her sister. "With your hyper personality, what man could handle it? Any great guy would probably be scared off just seeing you. Once you learn to be more ladylike, you'll meet your prince."
Unconvinced, Qin Ruoying snorted, "Tch! What are you talking about? Brother-in-law wasn't scared off by me. Look, we hit it off right after meeting; if I had met him first, you might really end up being his sister-in-law by now."
