Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Mysteries

Two Days Later

"Look who finally decided to wake up," came the calm voice of Prince Xi Jing.

Ma Feng groaned softly as he opened his dimmed eyes. He rolled over in bed—only to crash to the ground. The pain jolted him fully awake as he slowly opened his eyes again. Blinking against the light, he looked up to see Prince Xi Jing and Princess Rose standing over him, both smiling brightly.

Ma Feng slowly stood up from the ground, rubbing the side of his head.

"What's up? Why are you guys staring at me like that?"

"You nitwit," Rose said with a grin. "Why wouldn't we be excited to see you awake? You fell unconscious in Xi Dra, and we had to rush you back to the palace so the physicians could tend to you again."

"Oh really? For how long have I been asleep? How many hours?" Ma Feng asked, confused.

Prince Xi Jing and Princess Rose exchanged a glance before turning back to him.

"Hours?" Xi Jing chuckled. "Ma Feng, you've been unconscious for two days. And, just like last time, the physicians said you're completely fine—and strong."

"Two days?" Ma Feng blinked. "I thought meeting with the Dragon God Ozel would only take a few hours… How did I end up asleep for two straight days?"

VIOLET: YOU SLEPT FOR TWO STRAIGHT DAYS DUE TO YOUR ENCOUNTER WITH THE DRAGON GOD OZEL. THE DRAGON MAGICS WERE MERGING WITH YOUR ENTIRE FORCE, CAUSING A TEMPORARY SLUMBER.

"Oh, really? Then I guess there's nothing to worry about. I didn't get exactly what I wished for, but I still gained something. It's a win-win situation," Ma Feng muttered, turning his gaze to the bed.

"What about the King?" he asked.

"My mother and father were worried," Xi Jing said. "You're new here, and they don't understand why you've been fainting lately. Is there something wrong with you?"

Princess Rose excused herself with a happy smile and left the room.

"Actually, there's nothing wrong," Ma Feng replied with a light laugh. "It's just that my system isn't cooperating well with this new environment. I'm still adapting."

"Okay then… You must be hungry. The dining hall is set," Xi Jing said.

Ma Feng inwardly celebrated. He was hungry, and the reminder only made it worse.

He threw on a shirt, and the two of them walked out of the chambers. The guards greeted them along the way, and they returned the gestures respectfully. After a short walk, they arrived at the dining hall.

The moment Ma Feng opened the doors, the delicious aroma of food hit him. Everyone turned to look as he stepped inside, and King Ezerel smiled warmly upon seeing Ma Feng healthy and strong.

Xi Jing followed behind as Ma Feng charged toward the table.

Without hesitation, Ma Feng grabbed a tray of meats from a maid and slammed it onto the table before diving in, devouring the meat hungrily. Queen Fei Jing giggled softly, and King Ezerel chuckled under his breath. Princess Rose laughed so hard she nearly fell out of her chair.

Xi Jing, ever the gentleman, calmly took his seat and cleared his throat with a soft cough—drawing Ma Feng's attention.

Ma Feng looked up slowly, eyes locking with those of the King and Queen. Realizing their gaze, he immediately began to choke. He quickly set the tray aside, though by then he'd already finished every last piece of meat.

King Ezerel cleared his throat, still smiling. He was the King of Marcel Kingdom after all—an honorable King who had to maintain composure.

"I apologize for my manners," Ma Feng said, licking his fingers and lips. "I was just too hungry."

He then grabbed a plate of rice prepared by the maids and continued eating eagerly.

"You can eat as much as you want, Ma Feng," King Ezerel said. "A glutton like you, after two days asleep, is bound to consume a feast. But really—why have you been losing consciousness so often?"

"Father," Xi Jing spoke up, "Ma Feng told me it's because he's adjusting to the environment. He's lived in the Shadow Forest all his life, after all. He deserves to eat more than enough."

"Oh, if that's the case, then it's not a problem. We'll make sure you're stocked with tons of food on your way to the Scarlet Academy," King Ezerel replied.

Ma Feng nodded happily, the warmth of the food flowing through his veins.

But suddenly, he paused mid-bite. Slowly, he raised his head.

"Sir… did you just say on my way to the Scarlet Academy?"

He dropped his spoon, stunned.

Princess Rose burst out laughing at the expression on his face.

"While you were unconscious, we received word that the Scarlet Academy will resume immediately," King Ezerel said. "That means every student is to return—it's a boarding school."

"So I'll be going with them?" Ma Feng asked, still in shock.

"Yes, of course. You've officially been registered. You'll be a new student of the Scarlet Academy. There are a few things you'll still need to complete once you're there," the King explained.

"Things to fill like what?"

"My son Xi Jing is a student under the Military Department," King Ezerel said, "and Rose was a student of the Crescent Department until just yesterday. She's now back in the Assassin Department."

"Princess Rose changed her department?" Ma Feng turned to her. "If I may ask… why did you change it?"

She cleared her throat calmly.

"You should stop calling me 'Princess.' You're a Prince too now, Ma Feng. And besides, I listened to your advice. I decided to switch to the department that suits me best. I'm officially in the Assassin Department."

"Shouldn't you be happy for me?" Princess Rose asked while smiling.

"I am quite happy for you, but all this is shocking to me. I will be joining the Scarlet Academy in a few days from now, and Rose already changed her department. I wonder what department suits me best," Ma Feng said.

"Ma Feng chose the Military Department since he is highly skilled in military combat, and with his Artifact specially built for Military Force, he is progressing quite well in the Military Department."

"Just as you know, we Marcels possess a low Magic Level of three and below. We tend to use Artifacts specially, and we are still powerful," Queen Fei Jing said, and Ma Feng nodded before turning to the King.

"I heard from Xi Jing—while facing a enraged Rose—you were fast enough to evade her attacks and copy the same Artifact Rose was using. You are quite amazing, Ma Feng," King Ezerel said, and Ma Feng smiled.

"Well, it's a secret I'm not willing to tell anyone yet," Ma Feng said, still smiling.

"You have a high Magic Level of thirty. It's better if you join the Sorcery Department and become the first Sorcerer from the Kingdom of Marcel. You will become a powerful mage in the future," King Ezerel said.

"I considered that already, but who knows? I don't even know if I'm going to survive in that school, talk less of joining a department. I'll make my choice then, but I'll also prefer the Sorcery Department," Ma Feng said.

He then remembered the Dragon Magics gifted to him by the Dragon God Ozel himself.

"I wonder how strong I am with this new magic of mine. If the Dragon God couldn't make me the Supreme Lord of Magics, I guess I'll have to become that myself and pay a visit to my old world."

"There is still a way to return back to that world from this one, but I will have to grow stronger. There are thousands of people that must be dealt with by me," Ma Feng said to himself, and he smiled.

They were all eating and dining with him, and no one knew that he was a Dragon. He had no intention of revealing that to them, since Ma Feng didn't trust them much. He grabbed the chicken from the plate.

Ma Feng opened his mouth and devoured the chicken legs at once. This world so far had been nothing but blessings to him. There was no more sickness, and now… he was a warrior with a Dragon God inside him—

And a mysterious system named Violet.

Everything still remained a mystery to him.
