[Night - Boys Dorm / Lower Floor Room - 2:41 A.M.)
We zoom in on to Dorm 103. Now inside, you can See Hayden and Ty sleeping on both opposite sides of the room. We focus on Hayden's sleeping face. A bead of sweat rolls down his temple. His brows furrow. His eyes twitch.
The door makes a noise *Clink* to show that its been unlocked. The door slowly opens and makes a creaking noise, the light from the hallway shines in the dorm room and we see someone with a smooth, black, onyx mask, wearing all black.
The Man in the Black mask is seen to be holding a knife, and as we walks towards Hayden, he lifts his arm up holding the knife.
And then—Hayden Opens his eyes ever so slightly. A figure looms above him. Inches from his face.
Hayden's eyes, shoot open. A second later, the man in the black mask drops his hand to Hayden's chest to try and stab him.
Hayden acts quick and grabs his arm, "What the Hell!?"
The masked figure raises a his arm again to get out of Haydens grip—but Hayden's instincts kick in. He catches the wrist mid-air, holding it with every bit of strength he's got. A fierce struggle. The blade gleams.
"Whu-Hayden?!" Ty gets woken due to all the commotion.
For a split second The man in the Black Mask gets distracted by Ty, this gives Hayden the opportunity to finally smack the knife away.
The knife clatters to the floor and the killer bolts for the door.
"CALL THE COPS!" Hayden says the Ty
Without Hesitation, Hayden grabs a hoodie, his grey pants, his slides, and chases after the killer in a dimly-lit hallway. Hayden struggles to put his pants on while running, he hops a little to get it on easier but then he falls face forward on the ground due to his pants making him trip while trying to put them on.
Hayden quickly gets his pants all the way on while on the ground then immediately stands up, he throws his slides on the ground and wears them whilst going towards them still after the killer. He finally gets his hoodie on and now goes full speed after him, furious.
The Killer runs into an emergency exit sign that is labeled
[Use Only For Emergency]
He rushes into it with his shoulder which slams it open and he begins running down the stairs while he holds the railing.
Hayden bolts down the stairs after the killer, adrenaline surging through his veins. The Killer runs all the way to the Juniors Dormitory Building. Doors open as students peek out, stunned by the noise.
The killer dives through an emergency exit at the back of the dorm, but this one leads to outside—Hayden stays close behind.
"Why did he try to kill me…? Was it because I chased him before? I thought he only killed girls. How the hell did he even get in my locked room…?" Hayden(Internal Monologue)
The Killer jumps a fence. Hayden follows. His chest burns, His heart beats quickly, and his face is freezing due to the cold wind, but his anger keeps him moving.
"You're not getting away this time!" Hayden says out loud.
We switch to Amber's room, we see her wake up abruptly due to the loud police sirens in the distance. She checks her phone. 2:48 AM. Carmen Stirs.
"Oh God.." Amber says
Carmen looks confused and tired, "What..?"
"there are police sirens outside, they sound like they're getting closer. What if someone died again..?" Amber says whilst being tired
"It's just the city. Go to sleep." Carmen says while her face falls onto her pillow.
Amber doesn't. She gets up and peeks through the dorm window. She sees flashlights and shadows racing through the trees near the school.
Her eyes narrow.
[School perimeter / Woods - Moments later]
Hayden is deeper into the chase. The trees are thick. The killer is fast. But Hayden is desperate. He's closing the gap.
The killer throws a rock to the side to fake a direction—Hayden sees through it. He cuts the opposite way and—
TACKLES the killer to the ground.
They roll in the dirt. Fists flying. The killer manages to land a punch to Hayden's ribs, but Hayden recovers—grabbing the mask.
He tears it slightly—just enough to see a strand of hair… dark brown. Maybe black. Too fast to tell.
The killer kicks Hayden off and disappears into the darkness.
Hayden now groaning and holding his hip uses his last ounce of strength to yell, "WHO ARE YOU!?"
Watchtower High Volume 1 Chapter 3: Blood on The Sheets
[CAMPUS / POLICE ARRIVAL – 3:12 A.M.]
Detective Cross arrives, calm as ever. Hayden sits on the steps of the dorm, breathing hard, holding an ice pack to his ribs. Ty's nearby, giving a shaken statement.
Cross stands over Hayden, "So this time he came for you."
Hayden doesn't say a word. His face is turned, all he can think about is that he let him get away twice.
We also see Amber outside with a blanket covering her staring at Hayden.
"No forced entry. No alarms tripped. Your door was locked?" Cross asks while writing notes.
"Yes it was. I guess even doubling the security doesn't do shit huh? I chased that bastard for 6 minutes straight with no break or anytime to catch my breath and I didn't see not one single security guard, doesn't that seem a little strange to you. Maybe you should Ask Hawthorne that same question." Hayden says.
Cross seems shocked as well because if the security was doubled there should have been guards swarming the place, so what's really going on?
Captain Martin arrives on the scene wearing a long black coat over a suit.
"There were two bodies found. One in the boys dorm and one in the girls dorms, both male and female." Captain Martin says to Cross
"So three girls and two boys.. hm." Cross says
"Forensics have yet to determine which of them died first, but the blood suggests that-"
"The girl was killed first" Hayden says whilst cutting Captain Martin off.
"Excuse me?" Martin says.
Cross stares at Hayden confused.
"The girl was obviously killed first, The second girl that he originally tried to kill never died. She just ended up in a coma, so he went to finish the job by killing her first and then the guy, which then leads to me, his pattern is Girl, Girl, Boy, Boy." Hayden says while shocking both Cross and Martin
Martin seems interested. "Interesting theory."
"It's not a theory its a fact." Hayden says
"Listen kid, I understand what your saying makes a little sense, but maybe you should just let the police do their job." Martin tells Hayden.
"Your job!?" Hayden yells while standing up.
"Three people are dead, and it would've been four today too, do you want to know why? Because maybe you cops dont know how to do your f*cking job and catch the bastard thats doing this" Hayden shouts.
Cross gets in between both of them hands on both of their chest pushing them back, "All right maybe we should all just relax." she says.
"Thats enough for today. Lets get the bodies out of the building quickly and leave." Captain Martin says.
"What? I havent finished taking witness statements though." Cross says while confused.
"We can do that tomorrow. Get some rest, don't you know how late it is." Martin says while walking away
Cross follows behind him, Hayden stares as they walk away.
[Next Day / Classrooms - Tense Atmosphere - 8 A.M.]
Word spreads. Everyone knows someone tried to kill Hayden. Security is doubled. Hall monitors are posted. The school feels like a prison.
Meanwhile we see Hayden walking in the Hallway, walking towards Amber.
"You said you wanted to help? then lets work together on this, the police cant do their jobs properly." Hayden says to Amber.
"You need to be careful. Someone clearly doesn't want you asking questions." Amber Says.
"And i'm done waiting for answers. I need to find out who's behind that mask." Hayden says.
Amber pauses and thinks really hard about something.
A confused Hayden asks Amber, "Earth to Amber? What are you day dreaming about?"
"I just remembered of something my dad told me before I came to Midtown, He said something to me, like a warning that Midtown was dangerous and that I should be careful.." Amber says
Hayden listened carefully and becomes curious, "What do you think he meant?"
"That the school had a bad history in the past, so maybe we should find out about it." Amber says
"What are you suggesting?" Hayden asks
"Do you think the Library would have old Campus articles? What if we looked into that?" Amber says
"How would this help in finding out who the killer is?" Hayden Asks.
"Well clearly my dad knew something was wrong with the school before the killings even started, maybe we can find out he reason why if we look into the school." Amber answers.
"All right then, lets take a trip to the Library." Hayden says while He and Amber go the same direction.
[Tech Lab - 9 A.M.]
We zoom in onto a girl with glasses on and with long black hair with a white streak on the right.
"Ethan! Come over here." The girl says.
Ethan goes over to her while sitting on his chair that has wheels on them. "Whats up Naomi?"
"I want you to help me with a security system concept that would help the school. Maybe even catch the killer." Naomi says.
"All right then, what should we do first? Maybe start with scanners that can detect Chronium, Nickel and stainless steel and would go off for objects like kitchen knives." Ethan asks.
"Yes but I dont want to start with those just yet, the Dormitory is filled with hidden motion triggers that should activate once used, but the system hasn't been updated yet. He could be messing with the security measures, but theres no way he could have deactivated everything." Naomi says.
"And with that we should do what exactly?" Ethan asks.
"If someone managed to bypass the locks, then there has to be a chance he trigged the infrared sensors. Infrared sensors are a type of electromagnetic radiation why sensing heat emitted or reflected by objects and converting it into an electrical signal and it has various applications like motion detection, temperature measurement-" Naomi is cut off by Ethan,
"Object detection and remote control, yes you're saying a lot of things I already know about so get to the point." Ethan says
"What i'm trying to say is, if hes really capable of manipulating the schools security he would need to do is manually so theres no way that he could've gotten rid of every single feature of the infrared sensors so lets use these to our advantage" Naomi finally says.
"All right. Now you got my attention" Ethan says while he plugs into the dorm servers.
While Ethan types really fast he says, "Lets see if Big Brother caught anything!"
[Faculty Lounge - 9:42 A.M.]
We Zoom in onto Ms. Kensley Staring at her computer scene, but the attention quickly shifts to Detective Cross who walks into the Faculty Lounge. We see her walking towards a wooden door that has Black Bolded letters on them that say "KNOCK BEFORE OPENING"
Detective Cross ignores the letters and opens the doors either way. We then see Principal Hawthorne sitting at the end of the room behind a Desk with a wooden table with 2 Monitors on them. Hawthorne stares at Cross with a blank face, "I'm gonna assume you didn't see the message on my door?"
"I don't give a shit about the message I want you to tell me what you know or I can walk you out of this building with handcuffs on your wrist whilst all of your students watch you go into that police car." Detective Cross says while glaring at Principal Hawthorne.
"Maybe you want to tell me what the hell you're talking about first?" Hawthorne says while looking confused.
"New Security Measures?? What was that Half assed speech you made yesterday if you didn't even mean what you said? Your security guards weren't even inside of the dormitory and somehow didn't see a 16 year old boy chases a guy fully wearing black in the middle of the night when they should've been there." Cross still glared at him showing that she wasn't going to believe another word he said.
"I was just about to call you about that." Hawthorne says.
Cross being confused, "Call me!?"
"Yes. There were supposed to be 30 security guards in that section of campus, 5 in the boys sophomore dorm, 5 in the girls sophomore dorm, 5 in the boys junior dorm, 5 in the girls junior dorm, 5 patrolling outside 60 yards away from the dormitory, and 5 near the entrance of the dorm. But there weren't any of them in that area, want to know why? Because they all claimed to get a text by me at the exact same time saying "Leave your post and come to the main building." see i'm not the bad guy here?" Hawthorne says that all, not stuttering on a single one of his words he seemed to be sincere about proving his innocence.
"At the same time..? That should be impossible.. This better not be some ruse to get out of this situation" Cross says while looking shaken.
"No it isn't you can check all of their phones. So that means this killer, whoever they are is someone capable of manipulating and is very intelligent when it comes to tech." Hawthorne says.
Cross doesn't know what to say, she's visibly confused by whats going on, this is the weirdest case she has ever taken. "Listen, you're not allowed to skip town until I confirm your story and get this whole thing figured out."
Cross turns around and walks to the door, as shes walking to the door, Hawthorne narrows his eyes and tilts his head just slightly.
Cross walks out of the faculty lounge and the attention shifts back to Ms. Kensley, we finally see what she was looking at on her Laptop, its a class list, but she stops when she arrives to a particular name, "Hayden Reeve" She sighs, a flicker of recognition behind her eyes. She closes the Laptop.
[LIBRARY / AMBER & HAYDEN - LATE MORNING]
Hayden and Amber stand at the entrance of the Library building. Hayden asks, "Dont we need a Library pass to even get in?"
"Yeah, but maybe we can just sneak in." Amber says.
"Your kidding right? we could get detention for that.." Hayden says.
"Then what? Magically wait around for a pass? Or maybe ask the Principal for one and then when he asks you for the reason you can go ahead and say "oh we were just trying to help catch a serial killer" I wonder what his response will be" Amber says.
Hayden squints his eyes while looking at her, "Did you have to say all of that?"
"Lets just get in."Amber says.
"We dont even have a pass how can we get in." Hayden asks.
"look through the glass, do you see that backdoor? lets find the entrance to it and pray that ir has a key hole." Amber says.
"Then what? we still can't get in." Hayden says.
"I can use my hair clip to try and lock pick it." Amber says.
"The fact that you said "try" makes me worry if you even can lock pick." Hayden says whilst following Amber.
15 minutes later
Hayden and Amber are seen at the back door, Amber is crouched with her hair undone. Hayden is standing trying to cover her while she picks the lock, "you're lucky nobody has came through here in the past 10 minutes." Hayden says.
"Actually, its been 15 minutes." Amber says in a stressed voice.
Hayden looks around one last time "This isn't worth the trouble maybe we should get a pass-"
*Clink*
The door creaks open and Hayden turns around, "YES I DID IT FINALLY!" Amber says excitedly.
Hayden just stands there for a couple seconds but then closes his eyes and smiles. "Alright then, we spent all that time doing that so we better find something."
The walked inside of the Library, it seems that the Library wasn't ready to be open to the school yet. There were Boxes with papers on the table, all seem to almost everywhere. "Do you think we could find an article in those boxes?" Hayden Asks.
"No idea. But lets look around I guess, lets put the boxes together and look through all of them on the table." Amber says.
10 Minutes Later.
"Damn. It's been a while since we've been looking through these boxes, Lunch time is going to start soon, should we just skip it?" Hayden asks.
"Probably, I don't think we'll get a chance like this one again." Amber says.
They both look through the boxes and put books, and papers they've already seen to the side. "I've already cleared 4 boxes with no articles of past Midtown, seems like we're gonna be here for a while." Hayden says.
Amber stops for a sec and looks at Hayden, "Y'know, since we're gonna be here for a while, why don't you tell me about yourself?"
"About myself? Like what?" Hayden asks.
"For starters, Midtown is a very prestigious school, so how did you get in?" Amber asks.
"Seriously?" Hayden says, "That's your first question?" He smirks.
Amber doesn't say anything, she just waits there staring waiting for a response.
"Well for starters, it was always my dream to get into Midtown."
Flashback
We see a younger Hayden, in a car with a woman. "Are you ready to go to your brothers graduation?" the woman says
"I don't think i'd be in this car if I wasn't Mom." Younger Hayden says whilst smirking.
"This is your brothers special day so try not to screw it up alright?" Anita says
Younger Hayden nods his head and we zoom out of the car and see Midtown High's Driveway.
We cut to the Graduation Stage where all the Seniors are, we then see Principal Hawthorne, who looks younger than before. Hawthorne calls out the name "Lamar Reeve!" Hayden's older brother Lamar Reeve comes to the stage, He shakes Hawthorne's hand and Hawthorne gives him a Diploma Cover.
Lamar says a few things on the stage, "I just want to say, I am eternally grateful for my graduation and that I could have never pulled this off without my family by my side. Thank you everyone!" The whole crowd claps their hands and Lamar walks to the back of the stage.
A little bit time passes and then we see Lamar walking towards a door. "You wanted to see me Mr. Hawthorne?"
"Yes Lamar, I brought you here to tell you that you were one of the few selected candidates that made it to the top 10 of all your classes, so with that it means that you're allowed to choose any 1 person to be selected to come to our Prestigious Midtown High School!"
Lamars face glows up with happiness, "You guys still do that! Awh man this is a great day!!"
Lamar thinks long and hard on who he wants then it finally comes to him. "My brother Hayden Reeve, hes still in 8th grade but when he passes 9th grade, I would like him to come to this school."
Principal Hawthorne looks confused, "Why not let him come during his Freshmen Year?"
"I want him to learn the basics of high school first before he comes to a big school like this, also a lot of parents seem to bring their kids here during Sophmore Year so I want him to fit in." Lamar says with blank eyes while smiling a little bit.
"Well, all right then. We'll begin with his documents and from then on." Hawthorne says.
"Thank you!" Lamar says then turns around to leave.
"Hey Lamar." Hawthorne says getting Lamar's attention.
"You're a good brother." Hawthorne says making Lamar smile.
Flashback ends
"And right after the graduation ceremony ended, my brother came home and told me that he admitted me as a student for Midtown in sophomore year." Hayden says.
"Wow! What a nice brother you have!" Amber says
"Yeah. Hes the best.." Hayden says.
"What about you?" Hayden asks.
Amber continues digging through the boxes, "Good grades." She says.
Hayden also digs through the boxes, "I heard you needed a 3.8 GPA or more to get in here with grades, you must be really smart."
After a while of scavenging through the boxes, Hayden finds an old campus article. He pulls up articles of incidents dating back Decades.
"Holy Shit…" Hayden says eerily.
"What? What happened?" Amber asks.
"Look at this article…" Hayden says while he hands the old article to Amber.
Amber examines the paper for 15 seconds, her eyes widen when she reads it. "This isn't the first time people died at Midtown…" She says
We finally get a look at the article. It's an old article from 1999. The Heading says, "Three Students Found Dead in Dorms. Case Unsolved."
"So what? Are we dealing with a copycat killer? or did the real one come back..?" Hayden asks.
"I genuinely have no idea, but if the real one came back then that would mean the killer is an adult and not a student." Amber says.
"That was fairly obvious, but theres also the conclusion that it could be one of the staff members, all we have to do is find out where they all were at the time of the death right?" Hayden says.
"Yes, but theres no way of finding that out without access to the security room, also don't you think the police would've already done that?" Amber asks.
"Judging by the fact that the police on this case dont even know how to do their jobs correctly I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't…" Hayden says.
"Even if thats the case, we still have no way of getting access to security cameras." Amber says.
"I may know a guy.." Hayden says hinting to someone.
Hayden walks around and goes to her side of the table and looks at the article, "Hey can I see it for a sec?"
Amber hands him the article, Hayden flips the pages and finds the names of the students that were killed.
"The Watcher Strikes!"
"So they called this killer, The Watcher huh." Hayden says
One of the names matches a current faculty member's surname.
Hayden stutters on his words, "…K-Kensley?"
[Unknown Area - Night Time]
The scene puts focus onto A black mask sits on a shelf. Next to it: the remains of Hayden's student ID—burned. The killer looks at a wall, all we can see is their black hair and nothing else, the wall filled with photos, schedules, and names… one of them circled in red:
"Amber Smith"
Hayden[Voiceover/Internal Monologue]: "They came into my room. They stood over me. They tried to end me. But I'm still here. And now I know what they fear The moment I stop running."
