Chapter 17 - I can see the future.

Region #234.

At the moment, this was where Jayhan and his friends were currently located according to the system.

In Seoul city, there were a total of 37 regions, each having a different number of people following quests from the world Taskmaster like everyone else.

But the problem was, each region seemed to have different quests given to them.

Sometimes, the Main quest would differ from one another, and if that wasn't the case, Sub quests and Private quests would play a major role.

This made it almost impossible for people in different regions to work together.

At least not yet.

This also meant people would grow at a different pace. Some regions may grow faster than others.

A good reason to grab as many opportunities as you can if you don't want to be left behind.

In this current world, strength alone can only get you so far.

How exactly does Jayhan know all this? It was simple—he had already completed one part of the game.

It took the group about ten minutes to get to the main plaza in Seoul city.

Since Veronica was the one driving, it didn't take very long to get to where they were going.

Often, they saw people fighting on the streets for items, some stealing from one another to get more coins.

It was expected—the apocalypse can be a very dangerous place when humans become desperate.

"This is where we were supposed to meet up with the others? It's empty."

Kara got down from the car, the rest doing the same right after.

"Yeah, that's what Jayhan said, right? Look at this place, OMG, I can literally fit an entire country in here."

As always, Veronica was more excited than she needed to be.

The plaza was massive, surrounded by a square building and multiple cars. Broken and dismantled cars to be exact.

The ground was covered when blood and human body parts, most likely people who were victim of the 2nd quest.

Luckily for the group, they still had ten minutes before the monster began to roam the streets again.

Which was one of the things that worried the ladies. Why on earth would Jared tell them to come out in the middle of nowhere?

Jayhan, on the other hand, was as serious as he had ever been, staring at the system template ever since he got down from the car.

[Main quest #3 - Form a group of five and meet up at the general plaza.

Description: You are to form a group with other survivors and meet up at the designated area. Once a group has been formed, your stats will be updated, and your skills will level up faster depending on how strong your members are.

Reward: A chance to sign a contract with a Divine.

Penalty: Everywhere but the main plaza will be swarming with high-level monsters.

Note: There is no danger in this quest; this is an illusion, choose however, or the statement becomes invalid.]

'This is the next quest the Taskmaster is going to issue to our region, and possibly other regions too. It feels like they are trying to get us ready for something coming, and they'd be right.

Remembering what happened in 1-5 story progression, the MC, Seo Yuna, was the first to arrive at the plaza after the Taskmaster announced the quest. Because of this, she was the only one to get the SSS-ranked goddess, Ishtar.'

Jayhan looked to the side a bit.

'The so-called Divine protectors are chosen at random. The first few people to get to the plaza get the highest rank, and those that come last will get the lowest rank.

Of course, the Taskmaster doesn't tell you this right off the bat—it's what makes this apocalypse a game of wits and not just strength alone.'

Of course, he knew if he hadn't followed the story from the "Apocalypse on Earth" game, he would most likely not know this either.

That's to say, if the game actually reflected what would happen in the real world.

Right now, he wasn't so sure.

The only way he could confirm if the game truly does exist in the real world is when he finally runs into the main character herself, Seo Yuna.

Still in deep thought, Kara moved closer to him.

Honestly, anyone could tell he was thinking of something. No one goes that mute for a long time.

"Babe, are you good?" She leaned forward, one hand resting on his shoulder.

Jayhan looked at her.

"Yeah. Of course."

{The character Jayhan is feeling anxious.}

Kara rolled her eyes.

"If something is bothering you, you know you can just tell me, right? I don't like it when you keep things from me. Do you trust me that little now?"

"That's not it."

"Then tell me what it is..." Kara seemed determined, and Jayhan knew there was no stopping her when she got like that.

Hell could break loose, and she would still want him to open up to her.

According to her, her love for him was far more important than anything the universe could do.

Sigh!

Jayhan looked toward the far distance.

"What I'm about to say might sound crazy—" he began.

Veronica, who was standing on the other side of the car, began listening in.

"I think I have the ability to know what will happen in the future."

There was a pause.

"And right now, I already know what will happen. It's why I insisted we come here. The next quest is going to take place here. In the main plaza."

No one said a thing.

Jayhan wouldn't blame them if they had questions.

"How come you are the only one who got this ability?"

"Why didn't you tell us earlier? Did you also know the apocalypse was coming too?"

Questions like these.

Although Kara might be a bit understanding, the same couldn't be said for Veronica.

Suddenly, Kara asked—

"How much of the future can you see?"

Her question was valid; he expected her to ask something like that.

But telling her he could see the story from other characters' points of view would make things more complicated than they needed to be.

So he improvised.

"I can only see revelations of what would happen in the near future. It's not in detail, so I can't rely on it too much."

He replied, giving Kara a side-eye.

His entire reason for even coming clean about his ability was for one thing only.

If his plan for surviving the next few quests was going to be successful, he needed to make them see he had everything planned out.

Outright telling them to do something illogical would make them doubt him.

Now that they had it in their heads that he could see revelations, their doubts would no longer be a thing that would get in the way.

DING!

[The character Kara has accepted the ability you possess.]

[The character Veronica has accepted the ability you possess.]

"Good, that is out of the way."

He first looked at Veronica to see if she had anything to say about the issue.

Instead, she was practically drooling at him, her eyes sparkling with adoration.
