Chapter 14 - Mastering

Naruto leaned back in his chair, eyes glued to the scroll as he absorbed the details of the Hiraishin no Jutsu. His mind raced with possibilities, but he knew the technique would take more than just reading. It was complex, intricate, and required more than just raw chakra to master.

But there was something Naruto had that made him stand out—his ability to make clones.

Shadow clones had a unique ability, they can basically share the clones experience with the user. Meaning if he sent a clone to the shop, after dispelling it he'd know everything that happened to the clone on the way there.

' Why not use them to learn it faster?' Naruto thought, his eyes lighting up as a plan formed in his mind.

Without hesitation, he stood up, placing the scroll down carefully on the desk, and performed the hand seals to create his Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. One clone appeared, then another, and another, until a dozen identical versions of Naruto filled the room, each eager to help him learn.

"Alright, listen up!" Naruto said, grinning. "We're all gonna learn this jutsu together. Everyone pay attention to the seals and the chakra control, got it?"

The clones nodded, their faces reflecting the same determined expression as Naruto's. They each picked up a different part of the scroll, while Naruto himself focused on the hand seals. With all the clones working together, they quickly broke down the movements and energy needed for the Hiraishin.

Naruto's clones began practicing the hand seals, mimicking his movements and chakra flow. Each clone worked tirelessly to get the flow of chakra just right, passing information between each other as they refined their understanding of the technique.

As the day wore on, Naruto and his clones slowly began to understand the concept of the jutsu: creating a special marker, a space-time coordinate, where the user could teleport to instantly. He and the clones worked together, replicating the seals, and even managed to imprint a few markings on nearby objects as potential teleportation points.

By late afternoon, the clones had made substantial progress. It was then that Naruto decided it was time to test it. He created a final set of clones and prepared himself to attempt the jutsu for real.

"Alright, we've been at this for hours, so it's time to see if all this training pays off," Naruto said confidently.

He formed the hand seals swiftly, concentrating his chakra. As he finished the last seal, he closed his eyes for a moment, visualizing the marker he'd placed earlier—a small stone just outside his apartment.

"Here goes nothing!" Naruto shouted, then focused his chakra, intending to teleport to the stone.

For a brief moment, nothing happened. The room was silent, and Naruto's clones watched in anticipation. Then, with a sharp gust of wind, Naruto disappeared from his spot, reappearing in front of the stone outside the building.

The clones cheered, vanishing in puffs of smoke as Naruto stood there, breathing heavily but smiling wide.

"Yes!" he shouted, his voice full of excitement. "We did it! The Hiraishin no Jutsu—just like that!"

He looked around the village from his new location, feeling the rush of power that came with the ability to teleport. He immediately practiced a few more times, moving from one marker to the next with ease. The jutsu flowed naturally now, each teleportation faster and smoother than the last.

By the time the sun set, Naruto had mastered the technique. He had spent an entire day practicing with his clones, learning the ins and outs of the Hiraishin in record time. He felt a rush of satisfaction, but also an overwhelming sense of awe at the jutsu's potential. This was a game-changer.

' I can't believe I just learned this in a day,' he thought, his heart still racing with adrenaline. ' I'm definitely ready for anything now.'

With his clones gone and the jutsu mastered, Naruto walked back into his apartment, his mind already thinking ahead to his next challenge.

' I think it's time I master Wind Release,' he thought, a determined gleam in his eyes.

He had always known that mastering a nature release would be crucial to becoming a powerful shinobi, and with the Hiraishin now under his belt, he felt ready to take on something new. Wind Release was a natural fit for him, especially considering his strong connection to chakra, but he knew it wouldn't be easy.

' Well, I'm sure I'll be done before my genin exam. Let's just have another time skip,' Naruto thought as he lay back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling.

[ 9 Months Passed ]

It was now the following year, the year where the Canon story begins. The year Naruto finally became a genin.

Naruto woke up early, as he had done every day for the past nine months. Sitting on the side of his bed, his room was filled with scrolls that he had borrowed from school, including the infamous scroll Hiruzen had allowed him to keep. He hadn't bothered returning it. Why would he? It was his now.

In the last nine months, Naruto had far exceeded anyone's expectations. He'd mastered Wind Release and had even started working on the Rasengan. However, he deliberately chose not to finish it himself, intending to learn it properly under Jiraiya's guidance, when the time was right.

He'd also put his clones to use in training, learning the art of swordsmanship. Within weeks, Naruto had mastered the basics and even started developing his own unique style of sword fighting. It was a surprising addition to his repertoire, but Naruto had always been one to branch out.

And, of course, he'd gotten closer to the girls in his class—Hinata, Ino, and even Sakura. The cold reception he had once received from Sakura had gradually thawed, and while she wasn't openly affectionate, she no longer viewed him as an annoyance. She might even have developed some respect for him, something that would have been unthinkable before.

He looked in the mirror, noting the changes in his body. His once-ragged hair was now neatly trimmed, and his physique had undergone a remarkable transformation. He was taller, stronger, and his muscles were more defined. His abs were sculpted into an impressive eight-pack that made his reflection look almost godlike.

' And I thought I was the narcissist,' Kurama said, voice laced with sarcasm, inside Naruto's mind.

' You always hate on me. Can't I admire my work for once?' Naruto thought back, smirking at himself in the mirror.

' No,' Kurama retorted with a grunt, but Naruto could feel the amusement in his tone.

The two had become almost like brothers during their time together. Even though Naruto had no plans to release Kurama yet—he had promised himself he'd do that when he turned 16—he still used his chakra regularly. It was an advantage, one Naruto had grown accustomed to.

After a quick bath, Naruto made his way to Ichiraku Ramen for breakfast. As usual, the aroma of fresh ramen filled the air, and the familiar figure of the old man greeted him warmly.

"Yo!" Naruto greeted.

"Naruto, you haven't been visiting me lately. What's happened to my favorite customer?" the old man asked, a touch of concern in his voice.

"Just ninja business, as always. I'm about to graduate, so I've been busy," Naruto replied, giving him a carefree grin.

"That's great, kid. You better not forget me when you become a bigshot," the old man said with a chuckle as he started making Naruto's usual order.

"How could I forget you, old man?" Naruto smirked as he dug into the ramen.

After finishing his meal, Naruto walked towards the Academy, arriving just as class was about to begin.

Hinata was already there, sitting in her usual spot. She smiled brightly when she saw him, her cheeks flushing slightly. As he sat next to her, she greeted him in her soft, shy voice.

"Good morning, Naruto-kun," she said, still blushing but with more confidence than before.

"Hey, Hinata. How did you sleep last night?" he asked casually, smiling at her.

"Very well. Umm, do you want to train tonight?" she asked, still a little shy, but now without her previous stuttering.

Naruto thought for a moment. "I'm not sure if I'll be available. How about tomorrow?" he suggested with a grin.

"Okay, that works," she said softly, her smile growing a little.

Hinata had definitely come a long way. Over the past nine months, she had grown both in strength and confidence, and their training together had helped. While she still had her moments of doubt, she was no longer the same timid girl she used to be.

The same could be said for the rest of the class. With Naruto's determination and hard work as a model, the others had been inspired to push themselves harder. Even Sakura had learned basic Taijutsu, something she had never shown interest in before. However, she still hadn't found the desire to learn healing jutsu.

Just as they were talking, Iruka-sensei walked into the room with a serious expression.

"Good morning, guys," he began, looking a little melancholic. "This is going to be the last week I spend with you. On Friday, your evaluations will take place, so let's make the most of this week, okay?"

The class shouted their agreement with enthusiasm. Iruka smiled at their response and began going over the final details of their training for the week.

As Naruto sat back, a sense of nostalgia filled him.

' I'm really gonna miss this class,' he thought, realizing just how much he had grown over the past year. It was the end of one chapter, and the beginning of another. The genin exam was just around the corner, and Naruto was ready to prove himself.
