Chapter 90 - Chapter 90: Unraveling the Truth

The woman's office was quiet, save for the soft clink of metal as she reached for something hidden beneath her desk. Nam's eyes never left her as she rummaged through the drawer, her calm demeanor masking the tension that lingered in the air. The weight of the situation pressed on his chest, but he knew this was his only shot at finding the truth.

She pulled out a small device—sleek and unassuming, but its purpose was far from ordinary. It was a portable decryptor, capable of accessing secured networks, bypassing firewalls, and retrieving classified information.

"You're asking for something dangerous, Nam," she said, her voice low as she placed the device on the desk between them. "You're not the first person to come to me with these kinds of requests, and you won't be the last. But you are one of the few who understands the stakes."

Nam didn't flinch. He had been prepared for this. "I don't care about the danger. I care about the truth. I need to know who's pulling the strings."

She didn't respond immediately, instead adjusting the settings on the decryptor and connecting it to the main terminal. Her fingers flew across the keys, tapping in commands with practiced ease.

"Accessing the network now," she muttered, her eyes glued to the screen. "This is going to take a while, but it's possible."

Nam stood by, his posture rigid, feeling the weight of the moment. This was it—the key to unraveling everything. The manhunt. The black site. The people who had been hunting him for weeks. If he could get to the bottom of this, he could strike back. And he would.

Minutes ticked by in tense silence. The only sound in the room was the soft hum of machinery and the occasional click of the decryptor's interface. Nam's mind raced, his thoughts swirling around everything he had learned so far. Who were these people? What did they want with him? And more importantly, why had they gone to such lengths to hide their identities?

"Almost there," the woman said, her voice barely audible as she worked.

Nam glanced over her shoulder, his eyes narrowing as he studied the data appearing on the screen. The code was complex—way beyond anything he had seen before. Whoever was behind this had resources, skill, and access to some of the most secure systems in the world.

"You're getting closer," Nam said, though his voice was laced with impatience. "What's the hold-up?"

She glanced up at him, her expression unreadable. "It's not just about finding names. These files are encrypted for a reason. This is high-level stuff. The people you're dealing with are powerful, and they've taken great care to cover their tracks. It's not going to be easy to get a clear answer."

Nam's jaw tightened. He didn't have the luxury of waiting. The longer they took, the closer the enemy got to tracking him down. He needed the information—and he needed it now.

"I don't care how difficult it is," he said, his voice low but firm. "I need something. Anything."

The woman sighed, glancing back at the decryptor. After a few more moments of tense silence, she leaned back in her chair. "Done."

The screen flashed, revealing a set of encrypted files, each with a distinct label. Nam's heart skipped a beat as he saw the title of the first document: Project Blackout. His eyes darted across the screen, scanning for more relevant information.

"Is that what I think it is?" Nam asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

The woman didn't answer immediately. She was already opening the file, her eyes scanning the encrypted data that appeared before her. After a few moments, she spoke, her voice tinged with disbelief.

"Project Blackout…" she murmured. "It's bigger than we thought."

Nam's fists clenched. "What does it mean?"

"Project Blackout is the codename for a highly classified operation. It involves a network of government agencies, private corporations, and military contractors. The goal? To maintain control over global power structures by manipulating information, resources, and even entire governments." She paused, her gaze sharp as she looked at him. "And you're in the middle of it, Nam."

Nam felt the room spin. Everything he had been through—the black site, the pursuit, the shadows—had been part of a much larger scheme. He wasn't just a target in some random covert operation. He was a pawn in a global game of power, manipulation, and deceit.

"Why me?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

The woman shook her head. "I don't have all the answers. But what I do know is that they've been monitoring you for a reason. You're not just anyone. You have skills, knowledge, access to certain networks, and—most importantly—you're a wildcard. You could expose them all."

Nam's mind raced. He had known something was off, but this? This was beyond anything he had imagined. The stakes were higher than he had thought, and the enemies he was facing were more powerful than any he had ever encountered. He was no longer just running for his life. He was fighting a battle for control over the fate of nations.

"How do we stop them?" Nam asked, his resolve hardening.

The woman stood up, walking over to a metal filing cabinet and pulling out a thick stack of papers. "We need to gather more intel. I can only do so much from here, but I know people. We can't go at this alone."

Nam didn't hesitate. "Who do we contact?"

She handed him the stack of papers, a grim look on her face. "This is a list of safehouses, allies who are still operating in the field. Some of them may be able to help you get to the core of this. But be careful. They won't trust you easily. You'll have to prove you're not just another agent trying to infiltrate their network."

Nam took the papers, his heart pounding. The path ahead was uncertain, but one thing was clear: He had no choice but to keep moving forward. The truth was out there, and he would uncover it—no matter what it cost.

"Thanks," he said, slipping the papers into his jacket.

The woman nodded, her eyes dark with understanding. "Just remember, Nam. Whoever you're up against… they don't play by the rules. You can't afford to make mistakes."

Nam gave her a small nod and walked out of the office, the door creaking shut behind him. The city awaited, but now he had a plan—albeit a dangerous one. The game had changed, and Nam was ready to play.
