Chapter 52 - Cheating Will Get Your Hands Chopped Off

After the fourth round of dealing, the thin man's cards were the Queen of Diamonds, the Four of Clubs, and his hole card was the Seven of Clubs. The man in black had the King of Spades, the King of Diamonds, the Nine of Clubs, and his hole card was the Six of diamonds.

Judging from the cards on the table, the man in black had a higher chance of winning because a pair of Kings was much stronger than a pair of Fours.

At this point, the chips on the table had already reached nearly three million.

The fifth round of dealing began. This time, the thin man received the Six of Diamonds, and the man in black got the Ace of Spades.

Thin man: "Queen, Four, Four, Six," with a hole card of Seven.

Man in black: King, King, Ace, Nine, with a hole card of Six.

Clearly, the thin man had lost. His best hand was a pair of Fours, while the other man had a pair of Kings.

However, after the fifth round of dealing, the thin man did not choose to fold. Instead, he continued to toss in two blue chips.

Seeing this, Bob frowned. The fact that the thin man dared to bet at this point led him to believe he might be bluffing.

One, he didn't know his hole card and was gambling that it might be a Four, which would give him three of a kind naturally win against the opponent.

Two, he knew his hole card but was still confident.

Bob leaned more toward the latter possibility. After all, as a professional sent by the casino to deal with him, the man must have some kind of advantage.

Observing the thin man's calm and shifty gaze, Bob became even more convinced of his own speculation. At the same time, he was quite curious about what the thin man would do next.

The man in black glanced at his own cards and then at his opponent's. He decided to bet two red chips, as his hands were strong. The only way his opponent could win was if his hole card was a Four, which was the only possible winning hand. The probability of that happening was incredibly small.

As the two continued to bet, the chips on the table quickly reached new milestones.

Finally, the man in black couldn't hold on any longer and chose to reveal his cards. This was partly for personal reasons and partly because he was somewhat intimidated by the thin man's demeanor.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the thin man placed his card on the table. At that moment, he was about to reveal his card, and Bob could clearly see the Seven of Clubs suddenly change when the thin man turned it over.

The Four of Spades! Instantly, the man in black was dumbfounded, completely stunned. He hadn't expected the worst-case scenario to actually happen. His expression was extremely complex.

His only hope now was that his hole card was a King, which would be the only way to win against his opponent.

But this was clearly impossible because his hole card was the Six of Clubs, a hand that fell flat.

Through this game, Bob realized that the thin man's greatest advantage was cheating. When he placed the card, he replaced the hole card with another card from his sleeve at a speed that was imppossible to the naked eye.

Bob sneered inwardly. This casino was truly shameless, even leading the way in cheating.

Next, the five of them played ten more rounds at the table.

Throughout these rounds, Bob kept a close eye on the thin man's actions and demeanor.

Out of the ten rounds, the thin man folded twice, cheated three times, and bet normally five times.

During this period, the chips of the other players were almost entirely depleted, unlike his own. Bob, who was wisely placing bets, folded every time in the second round, so he didn't lose much money. His current chip count hovered around eighty million.

"Only two of us left! Shall we continue?"

The thin man spoke softly, addressing Bob.

"Of course! I haven't had enough fun yet!"

Bob spread his hands and smiled.

Seeing this, the other three gamblers chose not to leave and instead became spectators.

"Deal the cards!"

The attendant nearby, hearing this, dealt the cards to the two of them with extremely standard and skillful movements.

Bob : the Seven of Diamonds, hole card Eight of Spades.

Thin man: Nine of Clubs, hole card Ace of Spades.

"I'll bet with a hundred thousand!"

Bob placed a blue chip in front of him and tossed it into the center.

"Good call!"

The thin man smiled faintly and also picked up a blue chip in front of him, throwing it in.

The second round of betting ended, and the attendant dealt the third round of cards.

This time, Bob received the Five of Spades, while the thin man got the Queen of Diamonds.

Judging from the cards on the table, both players had the potential to form a straight. However, if both succeeded, the thin man's straight would be stronger, as he had more face cards. Currently, Bob didn't have a single face card.

"Looks like your hand isn't great!"

The thin man, seeing Bob's cards, said indifferently, while grabbing five blue chips from in front of him and passing them into the center.

"Who knows until the end?"

Bob smiled, directly grabbing a handful of chips and waving them in a very stylish gesture. There were red and blue chips, totaling at least seven or eight million.

Seeing this, the thin man's eyes narrowed, and he sneered without saying a word, also calling with several million.

Bob was doing this to make the other party think he was a reckless fool, so that he would let his guard down without hesitation.

The fourth round of cards was dealt.

Bob looked at the cards as they were dealt and smiled. Everything was under control.

In fact, from the moment the first card was dealt, Bob had used his Observation Haki to see the cards—not just his and his opponent's hole cards, but also the deck in the attendant's hand.

The cards were dealt in this order: Bob's final hand would be a straight: 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, with the hole card being the 8. The thin man's hand would be 8, 9, Jack, Queen, King, with the hole card being the Ace.

This was why Bob dared to gamble so boldly this round. Although he wouldn't cheat, it didn't stop him from doing what he could.

And when the time came, the thin man would definitely try to change his hole card to complete the straight.

After the fourth round of cards was dealt, Bob and the thin man's hands were as follows:

Bob: 7 of Diamonds, 5 of Spades, 6 of Diamonds, hole card 8 of Spades.

Thin man: 9 of Clubs, Queen of Diamonds, Jack of Clubs, hole card Ace of Spades.

As the two continued to bet, the chips on the table had already reached nearly thirty million Berries.

Some of the other gamblers nearby gathered around, seeing the money on the table, and became very excited, eagerly anticipating who would win.

The fourth round of betting ended, and the fifth round of cards was dealt.

Bob: 7 of Diamonds, 5 of Spades, 6 of Diamonds, 4 of Clubs, hole card 8 of Spades.

The thin man: Nine of Clubs, Queen of Diamonds, Jack of Clubs, Eight of Hearts, and the hole card, Ace of Spades.

"The stakes are too low. Playing like this is boring!"

Bob yawned, speaking in a flippant tone.

"I'm going all in!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, Bob pushed all the chips in front of him forward, his eyes challenging the thin man.

Seeing this, the onlookers were stunned. Such a bold move at such a young age—truly impressive. he must be from a wealthy or noble family, and the crowd looked at Bob with envy.

The thin man, however, frowned. He hadn't expected Bob to go all in on the very first hand. His eyes flickered, and then he suddenly laughed.

"Hahaha! Youth is so full of passion! It really brings back memories!"

With that, he pushed forward nearly a hundred million Berries worth of chips with both hands.

"Wow! Both sides are all in! It's a fight to the death!"

"Hahaha! That's almost 180 million Berries, right?"

"This kind of gamble is rare!"

The crowd couldn't help but chatter excitedly as they watched both sides go all in.

Bob, seeing the other side's move, smiled.

"Then I'll show my cards first!"

As soon as he spoke, Bob flipped over his hole card, revealing the Eight of Spades.

"Holy crap! A straight—4, 5, 6, 7, 8!"

"That's a good hand! He's got a strong chance of winning. It all depends on the other guy's cards now."

"If the other guy wants to win, his hole card has to be a ten, right?"

"…"

Seeing Bob's hole card, the thin man sneered. At the same time, he picked up his own hole card and slammed it onto the table.

"What the hell is this card?!"

"Damn! What is this?!"

Under the gaze of the onlookers, the thin man's hole card was revealed to be completely blank—a plain white face.

"Damn it! You're cheating!"

Bob immediately leaped up, grabbing the thin man's arm and giving it a sharp shake.

"Clatter, clatter!"

A stream of playing cards fell out of the man's sleeve.

At that moment, the thin man froze, standing there like a statue.

The next moment, Bob pulled a rapier from John, who was still gambling, dragged the pale-faced thin man to the table, pinned down his arm, and with a swift motion, brought the blade down.

Thud!
