Chapter 82 - Familia

Chapter 82 - Familia

Most adventurers didn't possess rare skills, only common ones with limited utility for Roy.

However, some acquired extraordinary skills upon ranking up.

For instance, Bell Cranel's Liaris Freese drastically boosted his growth rate and granted immunity to charms.

Another example was Haruhime's magic, Uchide no Kozuchi, which temporarily raised an adventurer's level by one, regardless of their current rank, with no side effects.

Given that each level exponentially increased strength, this skill was near-miraculous.

These rare skills were Roy's primary targets for replication.

"System, any tasks?"

Roy asked.

Random task offered another source of points.

[Random tasks generated. Please review, Host.]

Roy glanced at the panel.

"Generous rewards," Roy remarked, raising an eyebrow, pleased.

The tasks seemed manageable once he obtained Falna and began dungeon diving.

The only challenge was Task 2—reaching Level 5 in three months.

Bell took one and a half months to hit Level 2, while Ais needed a year.

"System, can I replicate someone's Falna level directly?" Roy asked.

[Feasible.]

[However, it's not recommended.]

"Why?"

[Replicating Falna abilities doesn't allow the Host to develop personal skills or abilities]

[To fully utilize Falna's potential later, the Host must progress normally to unlock skills and development abilities.]

[Higher levels require exponentially more effort to advance, demanding significant investment for skill growth.]

Falna's true value lay in its personalized growth, not just raw stats.

"Three months, then," Roy decided.

He'd aim to reach Level 5 naturally within the timeframe, resorting to replication only if necessary.

Disconnecting from the system, Roy soon drifted to sleep.

The next morning, after breakfast, he headed to the Guild.

Orario resembled a pizza sliced into eight pieces, with eight main streets converging at a central square.

Paved with stone bricks, the square featured gardens, fountains, and a colossal white tower at its heart—the Babel.

Its sheer scale, piercing the sky, dwarfed even modern skyscrapers.

Roy had glimpsed it the previous night, its presence guiding him now.

Adventurers milled around the tower, but Roy pressed on, targeting Northwest Street.

Less than 300 meters later, a grand building loomed—the Guild, adjacent to Babel, facing the main street.

Stepping through the entrance, Roy crossed a courtyard lined with majestic statues, entering a hall of polished marble.

Circular patterns adorned the floor, and parchment notices plastered the walls, with adventurers bustling beneath.

Female receptionists, all attractive, staffed the counters, most idle as morning adventurers had already headed to the dungeon.

"Hello," Roy approached a half-elf receptionist he recognized from the anime—Eina Tulle, a potential source of dimension points.

"Hi, how may I help you?" Eina asked, looking up from her documents.

"I want to join a Familia. What's the process?" Roy said.

"Join a Familia?" Eina replied, unsurprised. Such inquiries were common.

"Have you received Falna yet?"

She categorized questioners into two groups: ordinary people without Falna and adventurers who'd left their Familia.

"Not yet," Roy answered.

An ordinary human, then. Eina sighed inwardly.

Humans lacked the innate advantages of other races in Orario, like elves' magical aptitude or demi-human's physical prowess, making them less desirable to most Familias.

"Please fill this out," Eina said, handing Roy a form for personal information.

Unlike modern systems requiring IDs, Orario's medieval setup allowed anonymity.

Roy used his real name but fabricated the rest.

After collecting the form, Eina asked, "What type of Familia are you interested in? Merchant, crafting, agricultural, or exploration?"

Noting Roy's demeanor, she explained the classifications.

Familias were groups formed around gods and mortals, bound by Falna.

Gods, having sealed their arcanum upon descending to the lower world, retained only the ability to grant Falna, enabling mortals to grow stronger efficiently.

Each god's interests shaped their Familia's focus—merchant, crafting, agricultural, or exploration, the latter being the most common, targeting dungeon monsters for magic stones and valis to fund operations.
