Chapter 25 - 25. Newbie Gains

Leo got up and walked towards the storage room, intending to finally put an idea he had in mind into play given he finally had a reason to

Walking into the room, he stood at the door, pride appearing on his face as he took in the site before him, a large pile of potatoes. 25 tons to be exact

A few days ago they had completed their first harvest. By modern standards their harvest was decent. By the standards of this world? A down right miracle

He had spent 1000 UP upgrading this room, it was always the right temperature, ventilated and kills any microorganisms. On top of that it maintained peak freshness, for up to 1 year, which means 14 months.

To upgrade it to another level would require 10, 000 UP. He planned to do it when they expanded the current scale of the farm

Walking towards a chest at the side, he opened it and took out the blood potato he had upgraded before. He had placed it in this chest and forgot about it, intending to come back to it in the future when he had a use for it. He didn't expect that it would be just a few months later

Leaving the storage room and closing the door, he walked through the barracks, across the field, past the girls who looked at him curiously before continuing their training

He came outside the barracks and stood infront a patch of arable, land 100 metres long by 100 metres wide. 10 thousand square metres, just under 1 hectare of land

Bending down, he grabbed a hand full of soil and looked at it

[ Soil with Good Nutrient Levels ] [ 0/1] [ COMMON ]

Increases survival rate of seedlings by 70%

Increases plant growth by 10%

Increases crop yield by 1%

Seeing this, he nodded his head, he had a plow designed and let blacksmiths build it, which allowed them to cultivate this land much faster and a lot more efficiently. As for who pulled it?

Them of course, he was responsible for 2000 square metres while each of the girls were responsible for 400.

He turned it into a competition, the person who completed their 400 square metres the fastest was rewarded

Snapping out of his thoughts, he turned to the land, 1 square metre of land requires 1 UP. Meaning he needs 10,000 to do this patch. Honestly it was a gamble, he had no idea if 1 upgrade would even do much

He could just upgrade them all one by one, but he found that upgrading a larger piece usually had a more qualitative increase compared to if he did each piece individually

" only 1 way to really know " muttered Leo as he decided to upgrade the entire thing. Ten thousand points was only 2 months for him anyway

The moment the UP entered the field, the entire piece of land started to glow with a golden light before this light gradually turned pale red before it disappeared

Leo looked at the pale red land in front of him and didn't know what to say, it seemed to be good but it also looked quite ominous

He hesitantly reached down and pick up some of the soil in his hand, noting how soft it was as he opened the panel

[ Low Level Blood Field ] [ 0/100,000 ]

Capable of planting Low Level Blood Food

Increases the survivability of blood food by 100%

Increases the growth speed of blood food by 100%

Increases the yield of blood food by 50%

( Normal yield of blood food per hectare 40 tons)

Increases the survivability of normal crops by 100%

Increases the growth speed of normal crops by 200%

Increases the yield of normal crops by 150%

Seeing this, Leo heaved a sigh of relief, as he cut the blood potato into 2 before inserting it into the land. He didn't need any special techniques as the field will do the rest

He didn't plan to upgrade any more potatoes into blood food, he intended to let them grow. Then he'd replant them as seed potatoes until he completely filled this entire field

For right now, he still intended to grown normal potatoes. With the boost from the field, 120 days turned into 40. Meaning they could harvest 10 times a year

Dusting the soil off his hand, he went home. He still had today's training to complete

***

Another 1 month flew by in a hurry. It was soon time for the competition with the baron's guards. In normal cases he should be worried despite his previous confidence, as one, his foundation is too shallow, he has the advantage but that's only on paper

Afterall he's going up against the heir of a noble, regardless of if he's cherished or not so who knows what secrets he hides

But from the knowledge he gained from Hilda the past month, he found that his worries were for naught

According to her, the strongest person under the Baron was his guard captain who was a level 8 Apprentice Knight, there were 5 elite guards who were level 5 to level 6. While the remainder were level 3 and 4

Hearing her words, he fell silent as he glanced at the girls. It's one thing to know you're strong and it's another to compare yourself to someone else and really gauge how for you've come

Each of the girls have once again, broken through to Level 5 Apprentice Knights, while Lisa was level 6, Rebecca was not far from, breaking through to level 8. Still maintaining her lead

Not much has changed in the previous month, he lead the girls to sow potatoes, which they'll be able to harvest in another half month which is actually the time for the competition

The largest change would have to be Hilda. She had a fuck ton of newbie gains

Leo glanced at her training with the weights he'd usually use, and couldn't help but feel speechless. She had almost caught up with him in every attribute except for intelligence

To the point where when they spar, he has to go all out or he'd lose. Not to mention that this is without her using her Battle Ki

Yeah. He found out what that energy was. It's the chasm that separates Apprentice Knights and Bronze Knights. Most of the population will never cross this chasm for 1 simple reason

They wouldn't know how. He only knows because Hilda gave him a skill and explained it to him.

These skills, teach you how to absorb the magical energy in the air and use it to from a Ki seed. According to Hilda, skill level isn't really important as it just makes it easier to sense magical energy

How much magical energy you can absorb to form a Ki Seed is completely determined by your innate potential. So however much energy you managed to absorb will never change outside of your advancement in realm

For example, your ki seed doubles in size every time your realm advances

So if Person A, used 1 unit of magical energy to make their ki seed, by the time he's a Level 9 Bronze Knight, they will only have 256 units of Magical energy

So if Person B, used 20 units to magical energy to make their Ki seed, the difference in quantity is clear from the jump. The more magical energy within the ki seed, the more powerful the person

But this was proven wrong this month by Hilda herself. She had used 5 units of Magical energy to make her Ki seed, in the past month, her ki seed doubled in size to 10, while her realm didn't advance

Which meant that the so called innate potential, was nothing more than the strength of your physique. Which could be increased with training

The body is a container, magical energy was the water. The stronger the body, the bigger and stronger the container, which obviously means more water can be carried. He felt like he was he was constantly repeating himself but once again, why didn't people train

On the other hand, he found that his strength growth had come to a stand still. His strength and physique had capped out at 20, his agility reaching 20 this morning. Even if his skill advanced, it didn't change, infact he got injured as if his body had reached it's limits

The only attribute left was his intelligence, according to Hilda, each realm has a theoretical limit. Reaching that limit, offers the largest benefits its just that most people don't reach that limit, so no one knows what is gained and those that do, don't mention it

Hearing her words, Leo exchanged 100UP for attributes and filled up his intelligence then sat there and waited.....
